to the guzzi tappet destroyer fren
what oil are you using? Maybe look into classic car oil with high zddp content since you're on flat tappet. Modern synthetics with up to date API approvals often have zinc around 1000ppm and that's not enough for flat tappet in hot rods
Or just do a whole roller tappet conversion.

Only three is hard
Giant touring bike for giant tours - HD, Indian, GWing etc
Mid sized adv for camping, commuting, most twisties, and errands - V85, VStrom 650 or 800, Tuareg 660 etc
Boulevard cruiser - HD soft tail, V7, retro cafe, something with more style than function for keeping really pretty and living as a garage queen

If you go to four bikes I’d probably say a supermoto or smaller sport bike, and if you go five or more I’m doubling up on boulevard cruisers
I’ve only ever owned two bikes at once though (currently just have a mid sized adv) so after two is speculative

Thinking about upgrading my CBR500 to a CBR600, realistically I'm keeping both bikes for awhile.
I've had the CBR500 for a year or so now, riding it every day to and from work/school/etc as my commute since I don't have a car. There was only 2 weeks where I couldn't take her out since it was below freezing.
I'm really scared of the 600cc because everyone talks about it like its a death machine. I believe I'm safe enough and careful enough to not chase adrenaline that much.
>>
>>28612872
They're death machines *as first bikes* because of the peaky power and how that interacts with poor throttle control. If you've ridden every day for a year you'll be OK.

My Izh I use as a runabout to the store and about in the town.

My Moto Guzzi I use to be disappointed, but also for long distance riding.

Bought mine for my duke from amazon, but the duke is a popular bike and mine is only 7 years old. If you have some ancient or niche bike, then just find out the bolt width/thread and use another model's from amazon/ebay. Its just a bolt (with an o-ring sometimes).

https://www.amazon.com/ZEXDDI-M10x1-25-Motorcycle-Mirrors-Compatible/dp/B0DC64V81L

As you can see, my bolt is a metric 10 with a pitch of 1.25, the "pitch" of a bolt for metric is just how many mm between each thread, easier to measure it by every 10 threads though. If you know the bolt size, the pitch, and the depth needed, you can literally just buy this for a couple cents from any industrial bolt shop.

Mirrors are pointless and keep you distracted for the most part, however, do make sure to look behind while you are stopped at a light for any sneaky cops pulling up behind you.

Because my hands are fucked up, vibration sensitivity makes ICE rides no longer fun.
And because I actually want to make a lot of stops on my planned tour. I want to stop every half an hour in every village instead of riding for 2 hours straight between major destinations.

I'm fine with the downsides since I enjoy the upsides of the silent smooth ride.
But I need to figure out the logistics of my trip. This is one of many places where I'm guaranteed to get stranded if I go there. Here, Marjampole has a lot of places to charge, but I'm yet to find a provider that serves both the Western Europe and this middle-of-nowhere Lithuanian backwaters.
>>
>>28613111
>Because my hands are fucked up, vibration sensitivity makes ICE rides no longer fun.
Fair.

In regards to the charging situation, you could also buy a couple of adapter, maybe one to a regular power outlet, at least that way you wouldn't be stranded forever, maybe just have to wait 2 hours for a charge lol.

Copemaxxing 9000, if you were actually attempting to maximize your bike's potential launch you would have done a hell of a lot of power wheelies. Thats how I did my first power wheelies, just practicing my launches from stopped and popping unintentional wheelies (which scared da heck out of me).

Went from ninja 400 to cbr600 after about a year. If you respect the bike you'll be fine. The nice thing about 600's is they don't start making the power you're afraid of until like 8k rpm. If you want to learn just start slow. Pull in clutch, give a little rev, release clutch. Took me a while to not want to shid myself when it bucked up. Over time you get comfortable. 310 is great.
>>
>>28613221
Nah, when learning to just chase a wheelie the real risk was not know how to follow its movement when it comes up real fast and sp00ks you-> smashing the rear brake->smashing the front down->shitting your pants all over the place making you whiskey the throttle while you flail over your raging bull. Which is all ok, because you have a 300, whiskey that throttle and top out in first at like 50kmh lol.

Now if you have a 600/1000 supersport, yeah, you might wanna be really fucking careful, cus that raging bull is going to turn into a loop missile instead of taking you on a scary ride for a few seconds.

Sick, I wanna do some wheelies but my shoulder is so fuarked up atm. Vibration makes it feel like death, nvm dropping a wheel down from a whoolie.
>>
>>28613217
> if you were actually attempting to maximize your bike's potential launch you would have done a hell of a lot of power wheelies
I've seen retards like you, popping off a wheelie on their first bike lesson, often crashing moments after, and only later learning basic clutch control.
My instincts made me learn the other way around. In the early days I was always releasing the clutch very-very slowly and carefully. Then I learned to give more throttle and release the clutch faster. Now I know how to give plenty of revs and launch the bike hard enough to feel the lightness in the front wheel, but not that hard to let it lift.
My autism is not your autism, we are not the same.
>>
>>28613236
Dudes on track pop unintentional power wheelies all day, even expert riders. You aren't pushing yourself enough, and you certainly aren't learning the limits of your bike if you aren't doing unintentional wheelies.

Why can't you just admit you're scared brah? I get it, a whoolie used to make me shit my pants too, and when it rises up really quick I would have to breath deep for a minute after I got it back down. Just gotta be a man, and I know you want to learn too, otherwise you wouldn't even be arguing with me,

One afternoon brother, thats all it takes to learn to chase a nice 2-3ft high whorl through first gear.

I would record a big boi whoolie for you (although I can't nooner like you can...yet), but my shoulder is fractured ATM. I'm officially on whoolie timeout (or really any hard riding) for the time being.
>>
>>28613250
> Why can't you just admit you're scared brah?
That's simply not the case.
What scares me is fishtailing in a curve on my old shitbike at 70km/h on wet road and stopping centimeters behind the car in front of me. And I still do this, knowing that my rear wheel will lock up and slide.
One day you'll accept that your desires are yours.

But yeah, that was what I got to in my first afternoon, just chasing out a first gear whoolie. I haven't gone to practice for nooners and the like because I didn't have a stunt cage yet. Then I fractured my collarbone so haven't really been on the bike much lately!

>maximize the efficiency
but wheelies ARE maximising your efficiency
the more often youre pulling a power wheelie, the less often your front tyre is making contact with the ground, therefore increasing the lifespan of the tyre and front forks, and with the correct bike (something youd have to do the math on yourself) the nose being slightly up will actually reduce drag, and improve fuel efficiency

for someone supposedly "autistic", you sure dont seem to have the good king

Yeah, won't do much for road rash anyway, though at least the most likely impact spots are pretty well covered. That's not really what it's for though, just needs to get me to the trails, which are pretty close. I'm thinking about one of those Klim Dakar jackets that are meant to be worn over armor and have real abrasion resistance like a regular riding jacket, then it'll be as good as anything else.

Wheelies have you balance the front end up on one wheel.
Hard acceleration brings the front end up, which the rider keeps held down to maintain control.

Go on though, continue to make a fool out of yourself by acting like Wheelies are optimal. Keep coping lil feller.

Hi anons I have a question but didn't want to make a thread because maybe my question is retarded.

What can I do to my fork (which is a regular/right side up style) to increase the height of the front of the motorcycle?

I don't necessarily want more travel, although I wouldn't mind. I just want the bike to be "leaned back" slightly.

I'm asking because I have a fork service coming up, and even if the increase in "lean back" is only a slight amount, I still want to do it. But I don't want to change my wheel size.

I tried different gloves, but once your hands are fucked up, they become more sensitive and easier to damage with further exposure. Anti-vibration measures just delay discomfort, while electric is just blissful.
According to Talaria Boys the range is sufficient to comfortably hop from city to city. 60km at 80km/h is meh, but good enough for my plans.

Anon with a vibey Yamaha XJ6 again.

I went to reputable local mechanic and here's what he did:
>cleaned throttle butterflies
>changed dirty air filter that was being backblasted with oil
>changed spark plugs that were not changed for 50K km
>made sure all spark plug caps are well-seated
>checked engine mount bolts tightness

Good news is that bike runs much better than before. What I previously attributed to my poor throttle and shifting control was in fact shit air intake for engine. It feels like it goes 3s to a 100 now.

Bad news is that vibration problem went nowhere: I can ride bike for 30 minutes relatively comfortably, 60 minutes my right hand starts to get numb, after 2 hours my both hands are numb and my right elbow starts to hurt too.

I've tried homebrew solutions like re-attaching old heavy bar end weights or filling bar ends with fine lead shot. Didn't help.

Mind you everything attached to engine vibrates: the pegs and levers too, it's just I only touch levers briefly so it's not an issue and I ride with sole of my feet on pegs. If I try to tiptoe on pegs, the feet will go numb too. The throttle hand is the most insufferable one.

This is clearly abnormal, an new problem this season and wasn't the issue last year.

In terms of what else can be done, I can only think of valve/injector cleaning/synchronization check. I've seen it done for 4cyl carbs before, this appears to be similar procedure and if previous owner didn't replace spark plugs for 45K km + he sure as shit didn't sync or cleaned injectors.

Any other ideas that otherwise well-running bike can shit itself hand-numbing with vibrations?

If I was in a better (bigger) market I would be thinking of selling the bike right about now. I did it with Ninja 650 that did the same to my hands before. But the market here is really small and bikes can sell for months and years even, and I'm not rich enough to get new one without selling old one.
