This is probably what happened replaying it in my head, I slammed my elbow into the ground as soon as I repositioned myself. I probably should have also just gone a lot slower since I am still way too new to confidently ride out city streets without corning really slow.
>>
>>28625369
NTA nor the original guy, but you don't need engine braking to load a front tire you fucking spastic, engine braking is just rear brake, if hes braking throughout a corner then hes loading the front.

If he says he held the clutch through the corner and low sided I’m willing to bet there were no brakes used at all
The inertia of the corner can also load the tire but again, given that he took a corner with the clutch in in willing to bet there were no brakes used either

You replied to the wrong post , I'll link it for the curious >>28625356

Anyways,

Slowly roll into everything you do from braking, throttle, and lean. You should also be braking into the corner until the apex, which is the tightest part of the turn, after that its slow roll on throttle and leaning upright again.
>repositioned myself
Do not move around the seat during a corner, it will upset the suspension and cause accidents. You want your butt on the side of the seat before you are even entering the corner, whatever position you are in during a corner should not be adjusted from even if it is sub-optimal. The only time you move your body is when the bike is upright and straight.

Listen to your bike, it should have already warned you about moving during a corner, you would have gotten a bouncy effect from your rear suspension when you've done it in the past, that is the bad sign that you are fucking up badly and due for a crash.

>>28625387
Wrong, usually new riders pull in the clutch because they are braking and are used to doing it for a full stop. Clutch in meant he was braking. Now he might have stopped braking at the wrong time, but almost certainly he was braking for the corner.

>a helmet that comes with paulies haircut

>>
>>28625392
I don't even feel my rear suspension except for on bumps. I usually engine brake and hold rear brake till the apex unless I am already going really slow. I was holding the clutch in and on the rear brake in this case because the turn light just changed as I was approaching but I low sided after the apex. I was trying to get a tighter angle. I have only been riding for less than a year basically when it happened.
>>
Slow in
Fast out
And just don't fall off.

It's literally that easy, reduce Throttle load if you're swinging wide. You guys aren't thinkin straight if you think real world riding is identical or even remotely close to mimicking track antics.

>>28625428
The only way to retighten a line is to lower speed and/or lean harder, but like everything it needs to be gradual, you can't just flick it in as a panic for when you fucked up, and as before stated, lower body doesn't move in a corner, you can move the upper, but like everything else, you do so slowly.

You also got to realize that street tires aren't made for being on their very edge like that, track tires have a more v shape to them to maximize grip while leaning, and your tires might not even be in their best shape to begin with.

So yeah, if you weren't applying throttle (because of holding clutch) and lowsided after the apex from trying to retighten, you asked too much too quickly from your tires, you may have even unloaded the front a bit if you were letting off the brake cus you had apex'd already.

My internet diagnosis is: don't move around in a corner, go wide at first so you don't have to panic correct your corner, don't try to lean over too quickly after you fucked up your apex, and slow roll everything.

Tldr; I panicked mid corner and the bike slid out the rear as soon as I got on the throttle and repositioned quickly. Sorry I was veing vague, I just wanted to know what I should have done on entry to prevent panicking at apex.

Oh you should have said that to begin with, I thought you said you were holding clutch. Ended up writing all this >>28625440 for nothing. Yeah brah you can't be giving throttle AND trying to tighten your line, thats literally the opposite of how it works, brake and lean in vs stand up and throttle. If you need to retighten a line, do NOT give any throttle, better to end up too slow than like this.

Anyways I'm off, looks like the thread schizo is have another melty anyways, good luck in the future and no more throttle +lean at the same time, lean comes with braking.

Should I just live off my bike and go homeless. I'm a NEET and just sit in the house all day. I'm thinking of just getting some camping gear and living off my dual sport. I live in the NY Hudson Valley and there are a lot of nice state forests with mountain overlooks here but not so rural I'll die in the woods hundreds of miles from civilization.

I'm NTA one of the fags who ride a low cc bike that got my msf last year.

one of the msf instructors told me that when going into a turn, the sharpness of that turn is directly related to the speed that you enter it. If I pull in the clutch and start to coast, I just took away the ability for the bike to add power and tighten my lean through a slow, steep turn and thus put myself at an even bigger risk of low-siding the bike.

is this right?
>>
>>28625480
probably the worst time of the year to consider that, no?
and whats your plan when niggers find you sleeping and steal your bike?
>>
>>28625482
it's in that really shitty in-between zone of being too slow to be adequate on the highway while being too fast to convince myself that I really only got it to fuck around so what was I expecting.

In all honesty, I wish I got an XR150L and modded the fuck out of it instead of the bike I got. The bike I got is too slow, screams and moans when it needs to keep up with highway traffic, and was far too expensive for what I got it for. Meanwhile I'd be out the door for 4 grand from any dealer with an xr150l and probably have much more fun with what is effectively a dirt bike with plates.
>>
>>28625488
oh and it's a honder
>>
>>28625450
so how do i fix it?
>>
>>28625488
I used to commute on I-95 on an XT250 because there were like 3 - 5 lanes so I could just ride in the rightmost lane which was mostly empty and slow anyway. I did 60 in those without maxing the engine. You could do highways on them it's just not the greatest way to do them

>should I make myself homeless and rely on an easily stolen motorcycle as my only form of transportation in New York just before winter?
I don't know, man, just be yourself.

I've just parked my motorcycle outside with no lock other than the steering lock and I live in a ghetto apartment complex and it hasn't been stolen after years it wouldn't get stolen in the woods. It doesn't really get unbearably cold until mid to late November nowadays so I have a couple months.
>>
>>28625500
Won't I blow up the engine doing that?

No I don't do that I maintain momentum with the engine engaged, unless it's a panic stop that must be done mid corner that cannot be swerved around (such as a Log or tree in the road from a blind corner)

>Buy one it's so fun, it can go anywhere!
it's slow and fat and has too little power to go anywhere. It's like a big Coleman bike. Not that you'd want to because it has shit like Front/Rear drum brakes

>Well at least it's cheap, right!?
FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS MSRP. There are so many bikes you can get that are superior for less than 800 dollars extra and you spend 1000-2000 extra in dealers fees on the thing anyway unless it's a used piece of shit. Nobody treats these things with respect so good luck finding a used one that isn't thrashed to shit and requires that much in upgrades anyway.

Is body position really worth it for street riding? I've been feeling more confident in my cornering and riding closer to the edge of my tires but I feel like I may be risking too much getting to the edge of my tires and I'd like to try to offset that a bit without slowing down. How much more lean can be achieved with a proper body position realistically?

One of the best tips he laid out was default eye positioning. Dunno bout shilling, but it's crucial to appreciate the useful information.

Where you rest your eyes is crucial when navigating repeated twisties.
