Hey /dbt/, it's one of the XT250 fags who have been on and off posting since December. I haven't had much time to ride recently but I got a general question about break-in periods.

I bought this one new because I already decided that this was the right bike for me, but I'm noticing something odd. I already did the manual's 800 mile break-in, but around the 2,500 mile mark, it's starting to experience what seems like a second break-in period. What I mean is that power and torque appear to be way up.

Before I couldn't really keep 60-65 without feeling the engine was having a struggle, but now it feels like the engine can easily do 70, maybe even 75 if I tuck. This subtracting the 5 MPH bonus speedo it seems to have.
This is a 250 on 50/50 dual sport tires and it's handling highway speeds like a champ and my question is: Is it normal to have a second period where the engine comes to life or am I getting excited at something that could be completely coincidental/all in my mind?

My daily ride leather jacket of 8 years has finally given up. The zip is totally knackered. It'd be more effort than my time is worth to repair.
It had armpit vents which made it a truly all year round jacket. Anyone know of other leather jackets with such good ventilation? Ideally something that can close up for poor weather

to clarify, that plug isn't a problem, but if you have it out, replace it and gap the new one, even if it says pregapped. the most expensive plugs are ten dollars and if yours was a problem you will notice the difference. you have to replace them often anyways. also use sparkplug/dielectric grease on the threads if you plan on riding through water or in the rain.

I have an RST S1 CE. It's leather except for the inner part of the arms up to the armpits, which is a breathable textile. It also has perforations on the chest and back, and a zip out liner. I wear it year round, with the liner in and a thermal baselayer under normal clothes I'm comfortable on my 30 minute commute down into the upper 20s. I wear it in summer, it's warm but not uncomfortable as long as I'm not stuck in traffic.

1x the Abus Granit Extrem Plus 59 in 110cm and 1x the Abus Granit Extrem Plus 59 in 170cm. i can wrap the 170cm around a concrete pillar and then connect my bike to it with the 110cm long one.
i also bought some airtags just for good measure

our garage is basically a concrete carport, and the apartements are around it, so if they do start fucking around with an angle grinder it would unironically wake up the whole neighborhood. the lock just needs to deter them, or as least be so loud to crack that people notice.

Could somebody give me a few options for bike mounted center stands that fit a CB Hornet 1000 (2025) or a GSX-S1000 (2021- current)?
They seem to come, like most new bikes, with side stands only and for reasons I am really looking to get center stands for them. Aftermarket solutions are fine, I just can't seem to find them.

it may be the honeymoon phase but it's light agile and fun, i don't think it would be a bad first bike at all.
I'm still doing the run-in period of 1000Km (bike was brand new, 0Km on the odometer) so for now i basically have only half the rev range of the engine but it's still very fun and peppy even without being able to push it properly past 6.5k rpm so have to shift early and can't pull the lower gears as i want/did on the old suzuki dr350 engine.
some vibrations on right peg and handlebar but not a problem for me.
Overall really happy for the new bike! i want to finish the break in as soon as possible and do some proper small single pulls with it.

today i tried connecting phone and intercom to the bike and while the music control is handy to never leave the hand off the handlebar i still use a quadlock clone to keep google maps on.
i might try the husqvarna navigation next time since that's the only way to have navigation on the dash, if i find it good enough i'll be happy to remove the quadlock and just get a tank bag for phone so that it stays charged because last trip really damaged my phone apparently

I've got the low seat option on my Yamaha (XMAX), which is 40mm lower than the standard seat. It doesn't sound like much but the profile of the seat is also narrower which enables more leg extension when you put a foot down to steady the bike at a stop.
