Im glad hes back in jail.
>>28650122wait is this bigc or s10fag? the former i always found it odd how much he'd fly off his handle if your opinion differed even slightly from his, it just became impossible to talk to him outside of just riling him up for lulz. and if it wasn't that, he'd somehow make everything about him lol.
>>28650135Im neither of those dipshits.Bigc was just a troll, s10fag was a fucking moron. I honestly tried to help him many times but he was such a worthless waste of oxygen that I gave up and joined the choir. And everything I said about the dogfucker stands.
>>28650155oh i wasn't asking if you were one of them, i was asking if you were talking about them.there's only so much you can do to help someone, if they constantly ignore your advice all you can really do is shrug and go about the rest of your day

Are leaf springs under tension with the car jacked up? I would assume not, but I have to unbolt it from the front shackle and want to make sure I'm not dealing with an angry slab of potential energy
>>28650621If the frame is supported and the axle is hanging from the leaf packs then theyre under "reverse tension".I would suggest supporting the frame and then moving the jack to the axle. You'll know when its at relatively neutral tension by how the hangers behave.
>>28650626Noted, thanks anonI've never owned a vehicle with leafs until now
>>28650034bro wtf
>>28650034t.bongexplain this map to me, are the red parts places you can offroad in?
>>28651111Yes, mostly. Some of the red is military, Indian reservations, and wildlife refuge/research areas. The rest is BLM and state and national parks. You're pretty free to do what you like in the BLM areas
>>28651109Yeah man, it's hard to get into offroading when you live east of the Rockies.
>>28650631Just to add-When you unbolt the shackle you can adjust the diff height until theres no tension on the bolt to pop it out without having to take a sledge hammer to it.
>>28647497Prev>>28554252
>>28651154Mind you most of the Indian reservations in the south are heavily polluted from uranium mining. Not vacation material
>>28651154I ride my quad to the gas station.During deer season I've seen a dozen SxSs at the gas station (no cars or trucks). We dont need BLM land because everyone knows someone with property. I have my own 15 acre dirt bike track in my backyard.
Why are kia/hyundai drivers so low IQ?
>>28652962It's a rental, red tags. I would want to know what their tow bill comes to. Black bear is a fun pass, it's unfortunately being ruined by retards.
>>28652962Because they bought a fucking kia/hyundai?
How the hell do I pick a tire size when there's a range of like a dozen that will fit? Stock is 205/75r15, but currently have 31x10.5r15sWas thinking of just going in the middle and grabbing 235/75s
>>28653683I just check the forum for whatever vehicle it is and see what other people did. For my 4x4, I put the biggest tires that people said would fit without any trimming or lift needed.
>>28650155Take a seat and tell us how the namefags hurt you. It sounds very personal. Did they cum on your face after you helped jerk them off?
>>28653726Part of the problem is I don't know how big of a lift is on it, and it's a very underpowered car
>>28653683Cut out cardboard tyre mock ups, remove shock, bolt up template and move suspension around to see if it rubs, if yes apply 3lb sledge and osculating tool.

i always forget to take pics while i'm out so you can have pics of my bending and painting the skid plates during my oil change

>>28663159mother of fuck I look at my FJ underside and think "god damn I gotta do something about this crusty surface rust and flaking" and then I see shit like this
>>28663218The rust shield was the worst of it desu. Lexus wanted like $300ea for new ones soo $25 on ebay it is
>>28663318would've just drilled some holes in a trash can lid and bolted them on if nothing else, Yota really does enjoy assraping their customers.have to get an intermediate steering shaft soon and my choices are chinesium pot metal amazog brand for $77 or OEM Toyota for $380:(
>>28663332Don't get me started on the $6 seal (not for sale by Totota) that they want you to spend $2k (or fuck it whole new transfer case, 5k!) to repair.Got a 4 pk of the seals for $20
>>28663373I genuinely think they do this in some cases to make repair cost-prohibitive and thus the user is more likely to just buy a new vehicle. It's why I tend to avoid stealerships, especially now. Some stuff I just can't do myself and it needs 2 people and a lift though, so hard to find a decent private shop too. All they want to do is oil changes and tire rotations, ask them for anything more complex and they start making excuses OR they fuck it up and you're worse off for having hired them.
I can't wait to start offroading, bros...there are so many trails near me and I actually have a proper offroader now, I'm just fixing it up because it was horribly neglected
>>28663425based, once you start it'll become addicting and you'll wanna froad every weekend. i love it but sadly my local trails have been infested with drunk hicks in RAM1500s lately, they're actually a danger to other people and i might have to do something about them.
How do I find a good TJ and not get burned?
>>28663987Look for a collector's TJ, ideally one owned by a boomer that remains unmodified and was basically just a summer toy for them. They are rare but they are out there. Anything else is going to be someone's daily driver which was then bought up by offroaders who modified and beat on it, and it will show. There's no "middle of the road" TJs left unfortunately, it's all beaten high mileage modified stuff or pristine low mileage stuff that will cost you more money. Ideally look for something from Texas, Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico as TJs do have rust issues and these are the cleanest territories.
>>28664018>There's no "middle of the road" TJs left unfortunatelyThere are. That in-between stage where someone bought it from a boomer, modded it but only drove it to work on fridays. Not exactly common but dont walk away from one with a lift that you've only seen pictures of. There's a chance it just has some bolt-ons and never made it off asphalt.
>>28664026I can't see anyone doing that with a TJ, they're too old and coveted for a normie to turn them into a pavement princess. If you were looking for a JK or JL I'd agree, definitely tons of those with a little lift and KO2s that have never left paved roads.
Are XJs still popular or has the meme value died down enough that it's worth looking for one to offroad?
>>28665155They'll always cost more than other 4x4s of the same year/class because it's the only one with a solid front axle.
>>28665166oh shit you just kicked the hornet's nest.sedan-suspension anon bouta chime in real quick
>>28665166hmmm interesting. I know they're unibody too, kind of a unique pairing considering most stuff is SFA and BOF or IFS and unibody.
>>28665171Along with the inline 6, it's a unique vehicle indeed.

>>28647497How do I get my friends in our mid to late twenties to go off roading more? We all have 4x4's!! Pickup trucks and SUVs. Hardly any are modified really, other than a loud exhaust and smoked out interiors cause of cigs. Most have street tires and wornout suspension. I cant think of a good excuse to go off roading other than shooting or camping twice a year. I wish tires and gas were cheaper. FUCK we are all broke and mentally exhuasted at the end of the week!

Don’t know if this really applies to /org/ but I thought you fellas might like this pic from a tractor pull event. This shit was electric. And yes that’s a hole in the headlight for an intake. His stack literally blew off out of the bed when he got to the end of the pull.
>>28666430>this shit was electricI'm 99% sure that's a diesel
The Honda Ridgeline is the greatest truck ever made. There is no need to be upset.
What tools/parts do you guys bring with you when offroading?not just basic wrenches and ratchets, but shit like shovels, jacks, traction boards, cv axles, etc
>>28666671Tool bag with impact wrench, spare battery, deep sockets, vise grips, pliers, adjustable wrench, mini sledge, pry bar, screwdrivers, hex keys, ratchet with regular sockets (3/8 drive), bottle jack, various pieces of 2x4 and 2x6 for platforming the jack or using to bash stuff free, smol shovel, big shovel, ComeAlong, chain, MaxTrax, NOCO booster pack, air compressor, flat tire repair kit, spare tire, tow straps, fire extinguisher, breaker bar, folding saw, hatchet. As far as parts I bring spare fluids, some assorted chunks of flexible lines and rigid lines, hose clamps, stove wire, zip ties, o-rings, assorted nuts, bolts, and washers, JB weld (fuel safe one), some lubes, duct tape, MagicWrap (in case a line starts leaking), assorted fuses, paracord, I don't bring any spare parts like CV axles, if one ever did break you can always disconnect and remove it and limp home in 3WD drive. Might be forgetting some stuff but that's my usual handtool and parts loadout that fits into two .50cal ammo containers and a regular sized HUSKY tool bag.
>>28666328Naw.Just a twig from the last trip offroad.I mean, you dont think someone would be retarded enough to route a brake line 2 feet through the air between the frame and hub on a long travel vehicle that was built to plow through desert scrub, right?I mean, that would juat be fucking stupid.>I posted the pic btw.
>>28666688That's a lot of stuff
>>28666786It is but it all fits nicely into the vehicle and surprisingly doesn't take up much space. The big shovel and MaxTrax goes on the roof, everything else basically takes up the equivalent physical space of 1 human inside the vehicle. My vehicle has over 200,000km on it, trail repairs are just part and parcel.

Should I put offroad tires on these rims or will I need new wheels entirely?
>>28677064They look like +35 offset so much fatter meats will rub without spacers (or negative offset aftermarket wheels). This can be slightly mitigated by going narrower when increasing radius. Or take a sledge to the wheelwells
>>28677176ganghaps I will need a lift. This is a crosstrek (I haven't bought yet but plan to)

Finally managed to finish my rear seat delete. I already had removed the backrest and the cushion last year only keeping the metal frame of the bench part. But that was far from being perfect. I had this metal grating laying around the rest was a few hours with angle grinder, stick welder and rattle cans. >inb4 why didn't you just use wood?I wanted something that allows me to use smol ratchet straps just how I need it depending on what I gotta haul on the bench. Also wood connected with screws tends to become a squeaky nuisance
