Will having knowledge and experience of a motorcycle manual transmission translate into manual car driving well?

I know in a manual car the main difference is that the gears aren't progressive meaning you can go from like 6th to 2nd and blow things up. Granted you can do it on a bike too but still.

Any other main difference?
>>
But seriously I am not spending 300 burgers on $200 tires again.
>>
>>28652059
Wet clutch vs dry. You can ride the clutch more on a bike.
>>
>>28652059
the clutch in a car is less forgiving during starts, it’ll buck more if you aren’t smooth
otherwise no difference
>>
God fucking damnit, they got me again
>>
>>28652059
This >>28652063, but also car clutches aren't multiple plate, so they don't slip. They also don't have slipper clutches like you mentioned, so hard downshifting will fuck them up as you mentioned. Gear shifting is harder in cars, but luckily everything else is 20x easier.

>>28652067
Literally who even cares? Motorcycle design hasn't changed in like 20 years, how much of a consoooooomer do you need to be to actively need to know every detail about a bike that will be the exact same as every other bike before it in two decades.

The newb no-bike here again, I was reporting about visiting a Honda dealer couple of days ago and how it went really nicely and people were helpful. Well today I was in Kawasaki and Yamaha dealership (same building somehow). Here it was absolutely opposite, nobody came to me although two kiddos were talking at the counter to each other giggling, there's papers on the motorcycle that say you can't sit without asking, and the worst thing pricing. How the fuck are those prices even set? The worse machines cost more than better hondas. At least I got my answer what brand I'm buying after getting license.

>>
>>28652089

>>
>>28652115
All bikes are designed for all riders, your first bike isn't a big commitment since you're gonna get rid of it after a single season. Your biggest choice is clip-on handle bars or dirt bars, and from there its rearset placement. Essentially the question is how much sport you want your bike to be.

Truth is that you should just get a naked bike since its the middle road for basically all paths, and then pick from there. If you just like lazily riding around then get a cruiser after, if you want to ride harder then get a real sports bike, and if you like a mix of both then either stick with naked or a sport cruiser. If you're dirt-curious but still want to ride on the road then an adventure/enduro would be good, with sumo being a road bike that can ride up stairs.
>>
>>28652120
>>28652115
Also a naked won't have as many fairings you are going to scratch and fuck up from dropping and/or crashing.

>>
>>28652120
I don't know mate, maybe you are right and everyone should start on a naked bike. But as I was at honda the NC750X felt better to sit on with hands on bars comparing to CB. Maybe riding would be different but I can't check that now.
>>
>>28652135
>NC750X felt better to sit on with hands on bars comparing to CB.
Its all to do with bar height, thats why clip-ons are so uncomfortable for most, they are low. NC has really high bar placement, which is why its more comfortable than a naked. Cruisers and adv bikes like putting the bars in a natural placement for the arms to make it more comfortable over longer distance. But it all depends on what you want to do, when you do to corner and hit high speeds in a tuck, you'll curse those higher handlebars.

Pick your ride based on where you want to do, not on comfort. All touring bikes are comfortable, all sport bikes are not. There are variations in those categories, but you won't feel or notice them because you haven't even ridden before.
>>
Any ideas why my rear tire feels like it wants to slide out with even the slightest lean? Theres plenty of chiken strip, Tire pressure is ok and tires are warmed up.
The rear feels more stable on the stripped dirt roads than on the tarmac.
I'm wondering if they messed up the alignment during shipment.
>>28652115
Learn to ride first, then buy a better comfy bike later on. Sit on a couple of bikes and get the feel for position you like.
Beginner bikes hold their value very well, and the riding position will be more neutral.
I suggest a beater bike like a ninja 250/300 or cb300, if you want cruiser look for an old honda shadow, vstar 250/650 or Rebel.
>>
>>28652144
Alignment is easy to check quickly just look at your swingarm it should have markings by the rear axle. Misaligned wheel will be obvious and will shake. You can also coast with no hands, hit the rear brake and see if it pulls.
Most likely you just don’t trust your tires and are nowhere near sliding
>>
>>28652144
Sure it isn't just the tire being new, did you properly set balancing weights?

>>28652144
Dunno what you mean by slightest lean, but adventure bikes and their tires aren't meant to be leaned way over. Especially the suspension setup isn't made for that, compression is probably way too low if its actually made for bumpy dirt roads, if you want to lean over and feel stable at speed try tightening that and see if it feels better.

If its just new tires and your bike felt fine before, then either you need to still scrub the smoothness off, or yeah maybe there is an alignment/balance issue.

In my country of around 85 mil people there are currently 6 ninja 250's, 18 cb300's and 384 nc750x's selling, and the latter one is the cheapest of them. The market is different, people don't like sportsbikes and I don't think there's a reason to buy worse motorcycle just for the sake of trying "the best beginner bike from a youtuber's tierlist", you know what I mean? Its not a matter of what is better or worse, light bikes and low cc allow fundamentals to develop. Is a busa a better bike than a Yamaha Crypton R? Yes in every metric, can you reverse a busa out on a slight incline? No that shit weighs 580lbs.
Beginner bikes hold their value because there is demand for them.
Those lists are there because theyre learner bikes.
If you're over 6'0 and +180lb you can probably start on a ninja 650 or Vulcan S if you have restraint.
I know a guy who whisky throttled into a pole in Astoria on a CB300F from a red light. shit happens and better that shit happens on a cheap low cc light bike.
I'll repeat what an old man told me before i got the versys.
"No bike is too tall for anyone, and you will drop your first bike, probably the second too and maybe the third"
I dropped my bike twice in the first week of ownership.

I tell myself that it is unwise to ride when drowsy, or depressed due to dulling my observations, but I particularly avoid riding when I'm angry.

I fear that my anger would simply overwrite the objective feedback I recieve and interpret from my bike or I'd be too foolhardy to enact proper control strategy.

What are some of your strategies you deploy to counteract sabotaging emotions when out for your daily spirited Throttle therapy session? To regain calmness from fury is something I strive for on 2 wheels.

It's easy to prove btw, just search on youtube something like "z750". What you get is usually one of three: kiddos going fast in night cities against the law obviously, "look how fast my bike gets to 200 kmh" or "check out this acrapovic sound". If you search more mature bikes on youtube you don't get these results.

I cleaned the chrome up and took the CB1000 to a first time bike rally/event in the area on the 27th. I started in the dark at 6:00 AM because I wanted breakfast, and had to throw on a sweater and bake my hands on the engine every so often since I froze my ass off. It was a 70 mile ride. I paid $35 for special parking and found a CBR600 fren to park next to this time. There weren't many Japanese bikes there, literally a handful that I went and counted as I looked around. There were some neat standard bikes there though, and a few cool vintage Hurrrleys (1941/47, 1960s). There was a bike judging competition so I submitted mine to be judged, but didn't get a single vote because there were a vast majority of Hurrrrrrrrrrrrleys, and a small tribe of Indians. I was a little disappointed. I did get a ton of people coming over and looking at mine though, and a common mention was that there weren't many of mine left on the roads. When I asked, it wasn't so much that they broke down as that they usually lived long enough to get trashed in an accident out on the highways. People also said that they were surprised it was in such good shape.

They had biker games too. "Weenie Bite" where your passenger has to bite a suspended hot dog, and then they had slow races which I didn't participate in because I didn't trust myself not to dump the bike over. That and I just put OEM replacement handlebars on it like a week or two ago. Things got a little out of hand after each run of the slow races, where the riders would high-rev to a deafening point and do burnouts. I literally got to watch a modern Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrley go sideways and he almost low-sided it. If he would have, it would've gone belly-first into a small group of people and straight into a line of BMW R80/R90s whose owners had all parked in a line together. The two cops watching went and gave a brief admonishing to the organizers who had to ask the good ol' boys to chill out.

Price might be the only problem, I think you can buy a CB1000R Hornet for cheaper or the same price, which is just crazy. I like the looks of CB1000F, retro bike, it looks better than xsr900 for sure, 8t in green is quite the looker, this is what brits should have made.

Do any of you fags own an Arai helmet?

Do the vents at the top of the shield blow air on the shield and help with defogging or not?

I'm struggling with fog since I have a huge screen on my Vstrom that prevent good airflow to reach the chin vents on my HJC helmet. An helmet with the defogging vent on the forehead would be ideal

>>
>>28652654
I have an Arai Quantic.
The answer is that you need a pinlock, but I find that my pinlock still fogs up a bit below around 2C. In that case I find that opening the top vents (which are actually directed at your temples) does help, but obviously then it becomes louder and colder. They aren't really intended for defogging, it's just that the cutouts in the pinlock to accommodate them naturally become fog-collectors, which means you need to open them up to counteract that. It's a circular problem.

Yamaha R1 2005 still holds lap record on Nürburgring among street legal motorcycles. Excuses? Thoughts?

And check out the balls on this guy.
I guess he gets away with it because the yoshi label plate isnt attached when he ships it- like those fake purses they sell on the street in NY where they glue on the emblem after you buy it.

Nürburgring only lets motorcycles on with the tourist traffic, and does a fake short lap called bridge to gantry. Basically comes down to how heavy your balls are to race with minivan retards on the track, and also luck for who get in your way or not. R1 is gud bike though, Nidyanazo rides one, so you know its gud.

I have debated getting an R1 over my future clapped out GIXXER THOU, but they are usually more expensive because of supply.

I've got a VZ800 Marauder, pic rel I recently took it on a 2000+ mile road trip and then road it some more around town since early summer and last week I noticed a vibration so I stopped riding it to commute. I thought I found and corrected a vibrating head shield so I wanted to ride it again and then I realized the clutch turned into shit all on its own just while sitting for the week, the cable is fine like I can wiggle the clutch fork arm with my fingers so the plates froze and went to shit or something. I drained the oil before pulling the case cover and immediately realized it was super watery, completely opaque dark grey and stunk like gas. I was a lazy nigger and rode it for a few months without shutting the pet cock under the tank but I never realized it would be an issue. How fucked am I. The bike only has 8k miles on it.

I started enjoying motorcycling 100x more when I slowed down
There’s a bridge between Easton PA and Phillipsburgh NJ with a 25mph speed limit that most cross at 50, over the Delaware river. I never gave it a second thought until one day i rode over it at 25. The view is tremendous, just breathtaking when you stop and take it in. I do all my riding like that now, may well be on a horse; unless I’m running late anyway, then it’s back to hurtling down the interstate and cutting traffic in the median grass on an adv
>>
>>28652851
>Maybe just don't enter the left lane?
Staying in the center or right lanes wasn't an option. At least, not a prudent one. Plus, at this rate, in another year 20mph over the limit will be the average in the right lane.

>automatic fuel valve
I have to look into this now, I don't think the petcock is leaking when shut because I shut it when I did the carbs on it a few months ago and pulled the tank off (that was still full of gas)
I'll have to verify that it isnt leaking all the time but it leaking gas into the cylinders was likely just from me leaving it open for months like a retard, not realizing that its there for a reason.

I'm assuming you're talking about something like the 650L, which is what, 35hp max? Meanwhile a EFI water cooled twin 450 is putting out nearly 50hp these days, same as a 600cc Transalp was in the late 80s. Christ man, a fucking rebel 500 is 10 more horsepower than that, and that's a fucking A2 bike.

Yeah, no shit you couldn't keep up. At a certain point dual sport guys have to realize that as bullet proof as those air cooled carbed bikes are, they're prime was when the average speed limit in this country was 55mph. If you tried to sell some soccer mom a Subaru forester and told her it topped out at 90mph, she'd laugh in your face.

TL;DR: stay off the highway until you get a faster bike.

I agree, I was skeptical of it but I've put 3k+ of those on it in less than a year of ownership, ive been loving it and built up a good bit of trust on it, only headache being the stupid twin carbs which were a real headache to figure out coming from not much carb experience at first. It has cobra pipes on it and I get compliments all the time on how great it sounds. I got it from an old guy who had a bunch of surgery so hadn't been riding from some time and it had clearly been sitting in his garage for a long time but he still kept it in good shape. I got it in a trade for a clapped non running aw11 mr2.

Btw they copied 80s honda scooters a lot. Also never let yammie lie to you because his boom250 is actually a cfmoto vnight that is on its second white label since the motor is cfmoto the chassis is cfmoto and the rest was designed by qlink which did most of the cfmoto export relabelled bikes. This was a third tier 2 wheel company in china till the second release of the nk650. KTM did a number on their design language when they partnered after that bike, probably for the best.

Anybody here have kids that they take for rides? How young is too young to start taking for rides?
I'm going to have kids eventually and I think often about taking my future kids for a ride.

>>28653198
Nice, I like M4. The shorty gp pipe I had on my gixxer was just too loud for a daily rider.
>>
>>28653247
Took my son for a ride when he was maybe 11 or 12. He moved around so much it fucked with the bike's stability. I have no idea what the fuck he was doing back there. He never wanted to go for rides after that, which was a let down.
>>
>>28653247
Careful about their hearing when they’re young
>>
>>28653243
Go ahead, it's a fine touring bike. I tried my friend's speed 400 t4. Its smol and pretty cool. I liked it.
>>
>>28653247
I don't have any kids, when I was a kid, my dad used to take me on his scoot. I used to stand in front and he let me twist the throttle, cool days. I learnt how to ride that scoot pretty early in life.

>The alternative job will have less hours but there's hot girls working at the place to interact with
Here's a hint
Dating girls at work is always, 100% an unmitigated disaster.
The MICROSECOND either you or her has a falling out or she decides she wants to cheat or have leverage, there's her going to your boss with a sexual harassment complaint.

in the workplace, they hold literally 100% of the cards and when it's he-said-she-said, it's going to come down to she-said every time. Professional environments are just like divorce courts in that way. Never, ever let a woman have power over you in a place of work. You MAY score a date with hot girls or you may score a pink slip and a warning to all other employers to never hire you again.
>>
>>28653296
I don't even see the point of getting a CFMOTO, they're barely cheaper than jap bikes. I have this Lifan dual sport another chink brand and genuinely haven't had any issues it's been a reliable bike with 5k miles on it. The only problem is its only 197cc and barely goes 70mph with no wind with full throttle. it was less than 2,000 dollars brand new but these CFMotos are like 1,000 cheaper than an equivalent jap bike.
>>
>>28653313
>equivalent jap bike
Yeah but that's why these things fly off the shelves, Jap bikes don't offer a parallel twin 450 adventure bike. Honda has teased making one for years but the one time they make one, it's a 700 parallel twin that costs upwards of 10 grand MSRP.

Not trying to sell anyone on it, it's just there's a gap in the market and desu this is the only thing that fills it.
>>
>>28653296
Wait for Kawasaki and Yamaha to release their 400-500 ADV and pick which is most comfy

I need a little bit of help.
I was going to get a scooter and still probably am.
But I was lead to believe SOME motor Bikes are different.
Here's the thing, A motor bike that does NOT need pedaling (but can) is something I would like.
But I don't want to pedal (unless the battery is low, or i feel like like it. But basically ALMOST Never. I just want the option. For EMERGENCY only.

So What do i choose? (the scoot comes with a SEAT)

Why everyone is measuring and comparing this useless metric called "power" or "hp"? The only important characteristics are RPM and Torque at the back wheel, that's it. Power tells you literally nothing about bike performance, like in this case for example >>28653506, where the torque on wheel will be nothing after going through the gearbox.
>>
>>28653672
Power is just a single, simple number that works for most surface level discussions. You don't have to go that deep in the weeds unless you start getting relative technical, or you're doing weird shit like the engine you mentioned.
