Do I need a DRZ bros? I have a DR200 right now. I want a DRZ400 so bad it seems like the perfect dual sport. Same top speed as the DR650 but much lighter so it's better off road. You should prioritize skull fitment. Any good manufacturer will have replaceable/adjustable cheek pads.

I have a skinny narrow face, so I have to get thicker cheek pads with pretty much every helmet I get. Some people have little chubster faces and need thinner cheek pads so their fat cheeks aren't smushed into their eyeballs.

Gonna tap into the top of primary tank fuel lines and T off it/bottom of primary tank. The customer wants one just so he has a heads up when to reach back and twist the reserve tank peacock on while riding.
>>28654157
Save your snarkposting for plebbit. This is a 2 owner bike, 1st owner was a comically large Fatman who had too many toys to rotate around thus low miles. If it was my bike I wouldn't care about a gauge or light because you can literally hear and feel when the bike needs to switch to reserve like a dirt bike or dual sport.

You don't even need soap. I put a wet cloth over my visor and let it sit until the dust and bug guts are rehydrated then wipe it off. Then dry with a microfiber cloth or soft paper towel.
Learned this from cleaning my windshield.

you people always sound like redditors when criticizing chink bikes. this type of chink bike has been being made for decades most of the parts and all will be standardized by now, the engine is probably a 2 valve air cooled single honda clone with not much to go wrong. i would get it, these types of bikes are huge in the third world since they're simple and easy to maintain plus gas is expensive in those countries and they're good on gas. it looks comfy riding around on a poorly maintained third world gravel "highway' on one of those with a milk crate strapped to the back to store your things. i love these utilitarian not flashy bikes even after getting a sports baik.

mechanically speaking;
if I bought a hornet 1000sp
got a nice big can on it
flashed ecu and tuned to original fireblade engine specs or better
i'd in essence have a 2017~ fireblade, but naked, right?

but then on top of that
I bet honda have been lazy and the 2025 hornet
the rake is probably around the same angle and size as the fireblades
so in theory, you could probably fit their fairings on
and get them real cheap from crashed bikes, get a pristine front from a rear end, pristine rear from a wall crash etc.

meaning you'd have a 2025-2017 fireblade

that specific bike probably has an issue
unless its neon yellow and they cant shift it, and need space for a 2025 model, they wouldnt drop the price that much
and even if it was just a colour problem, it wouldnt be a 5k drop in price
they'll get their money back from you from repeat custom with CERTIFIED repairs or some other nickel and dime shit
theyre kikes and theyre in it to make a buck, not to give out cheap bikes
price drops like that are ALWAYS suspicious

What the fuck is up with the used market right now. Looking for specitic models is like searching for hen's teeth. I went to look for a used Transalp and there's like, 2, in my entire state across multiple services like craigslist, cycle trader, etc. The prices aren't anything great either. Yeah, you save on dealer's fees, but people are selling bikes that are averaging 8000mi a year for $1-2k under MSRP, which is honestly pretty damn high mileage per year around here.

I've heard horror stories about the used car market, but I thought bikes weren't in the same boat.

I may have figured out why: It's not the DE model. When I looked up the wheel base and suspension I noticed they were off from the model I saw. After looking it up it turns out I was right: It's the touring vstrom. In which case it's MSRP is 10K.

But 8.5OTD is still a great deal on that, right? It's not like I can't get spoked wheels and new forks for it.

The problem with a mid-life crisis is that they usually aren't a crisis. It's a guy finally earning enough to financially cover his family's needs and have some left over, so if course he's going to spend it on things he's always wanted but put off because responsibility called first.

You want a real midlife crisis? Try realizing that you're sliding into the back half of your life so you dig in hard to what's left of your sport at your age because you know you've got a decade left before it hurts too much the next day. Or the guys who just start chasing 20 year olds because women they're own age make them depressed.

Fake Yoshi sounds really good. Classic Japanese sport bike sound. I was worried this morning it would be too quiet because it sounded almost like a stock bike on my way to work. I guess the fiberglass matting broke in a bit or something because after my ride home it sounded perfect. Not to loud, not too quiet.

>>28654186
There's probably other techniques, but I stand behind the bike with it on the stand. Get the stand seated on the swing arm at and angle. Simultaneously push the bone up right with your left arm, and keep pressure on the stand so it stays seated to the swing arm and the ground as the bike stands up. Once the bike is fully up, immediately put more pressure on the stand so it grabs the rear weight of the bike and then press the stand into position to hold the bike. It's definitely tricky and requires some practice. I recommend practicing with someone to catch the bike from the front of it starts to go one way or the other.

>>
>>28654786
>best next bike
KTM 500
>>
>>28654786
The DR650 is better I wonder why the DRZ is more popular. The DR650 can cruise at 75mph easily and both of them are too heavy to do crazy technical off roading easily anyway so the 30 pound or whatever lower weight for the DRZ is inconsequential. DR650 is even often cheaper with 250 extra CCs.
>>
>>28654786
Not yet. I'm kind of Vince Strang's opinion on the air box mods. Unless you have access to a dyno, you're fiddling around with all of the air intake, jetting, and exhaust, and it's all just "feels more powerful now, bro". Meanwhile you probably just fucked up your gas mileage.

I absolutely will be upgrading the forks with stiffer springs and cartridge emulators when it's time to change the fork oil though. Shit's so fucking undersprung you nose dive at every red light so hard that you bounce up when you let off the front brake. That shit alone might make the new 4s worth it if they actual come sprung for a 180lbs rider.
>>
>>28654797

You gotta read your plug. And a bike will give you a lot more feedback via sound, like popping on decel, than a car.

Diet, stretching, and wearing properly fitting shoes is the most important thing if you want to stay active in your older years.

Yeah I think performance mods are overdone somewhat but I haven’t really looked into them too far. I did a fuel dongle, throttle plate delete, pipe on my klx all for maybe a couple hp and bad mileage lol. Idk how I’m gonna offload this thing it sounds like metal bees inside it

In a word, suspension. The front on the dr-z is fully adjustable. You get what you get on the 650. If you going to be doing rough shit at speed? Dr-z, 100%.

I'm not saying crazy shit like the Honda 450 or a KTM aren't even better, but for a relatively low maintenance dual sport that still gives you enough rope to hang yourself down with, DR-Z is probably the best there is.
>>
>>28654808
there was an xr650r not too long ago but it was BiLl of SaLe only of course. Would be sick though. Those ktms have pretty intense maintenance intervals but the bottom line is I’m just not gonna be able to ride it well enough
>>
>>28654786
Either way both bikes benefit greatly with a pumper carb. I had a drz with a fcr39 mx carb and that carb made the bike so much better. Ran cooler too. Way better in all conditions. Less buzzy at high speeds.
>>
Should I get a DR650 if my friend also has one? I like those bikes but we won't ever have a reason to swap bikes for a change if we just have the same one.

Unrelated - Neighbour just handbrake reverse-parked his Leaf into the shared driveway at 9pm.
Burst through the driveway shrubbery to confront him and give him a handshake, promptly turning him from a scared little bitch into a giggling little schoolboy.
His wife apologized for the noise but I just ignored her and gave their two kids highfives to calm that shit down.

Why would you need to make a good consumer bike to win at a racing event where you build completely custom bikes? Are you retarded? Whats next, nitro drag racers should be able to make the next Toyota Corolla?

>>28655349
>cries about shit unrelated to racing
Lol.

All racing should be done on the exact same bikes with only frame/rearset being made differently for riders of different height. Motogp is an capitalist's advertisement, not a real racer's race.
>>
>>28655367
RE's are beautiful bikes and I'm sick of pretending otherwise. Jeets wouldn't bother buying anything that didn't look nice.

>>

Explain and expound.
>>
>>28655371
My main issue with them is that new V7s are rotting on showroom floors so you can get an Italian stallion for the same price as a jeet bike
>>
Not only should all the bikes be the sameas I said here >>28655369, but there should be a minimum weight to riders to try and even the physical playing field between taller vs shorter riders.

Chess and Go are two equal sides with the only variable being who starts first.
Boxing, tennis, etc sports are all essentially equal
Quake 1v1 only variable is beginning spawn.
Highest skill match up in Starcraft is TvT with variable spawn, highest skill match up in Streetfighter is Ryu vs Ryu with variable side start

A racer's race would remove these clown capitalist manufacturers from the equation entirely, all bikes should be identical except for the adjustments to fit riders. Anything else is just playing defense for billionaires and their marketing teams.

Okay I've looked at a chinesium adventure scooter and I want it right now lmao. It fucking has everything you need to travel across majority of continents, has huge ass fully enclosed trunk, radially spoked wheels, all electronics, reliable engine and a proper 41mm suspension. And it rides like a scooter. Anon please give me a reason not to commit because I don't see any right now, it's Zontes 368G probably inspired my Hondas X-Adv
>>
>>28655369
Moto2 has the same engine I think but they can customize the chassis
No aero or ride height
The races are usually very good
>>
>>28655446
Scooters in general are a thinking mans two wheeled transportation but they are not fun nor sporty.
Tons of luggage space
relaxed riding position
light enough to not need 1000ccs to hit 70 mph
easy to service
good enough suspension and travel for the road

What do you miss? the possibility of racing on a motoGP track, which is something nobody here does anyway.

>>
>>28655470
Fucking setup for a holy war, anon. Short answer? How much comfort and top end are you willing to give up in order to risk breaking a rib trying to catch air over a berm?

No wind protection, a 300lbs bike, the drone of a 70% dirt 30% road tire, just so you can rattle your teeth out by racing over a bunch of rocks at 50mph? Probably should be on a dual sport. 2-5 day tour across God knows what terrain just for the fun of being on the bike? Plan on hitting 100mph on the boring stretches of highway? Probably an ADV bike.

The line got blurry because a bunch of MX and enduro guys got older, got tired of being miserable and bored on the highway, and figured out they were good enough riders to catch air on relatively expensive, heavy shit like T7s and Kove 450s, and now that's every fucking ad for an ADV bike despite most guys on an Vstrom or a BMW 1300 never riding like that.
>>

So far there's 3 KTM 390 anons that I know of that post here.
There's one that doesn't post that much and has a 390 ADV and had a 360 cam I think because he shared a webm, then there's the RC 390 who fucked up his leg, and doesn't post often as well, and the one being called a faggot by almost all of dbt is the one with the Duke, besides being a fucking leaf, yet he is the one that has been posting regularly.
>>
>>28655933
>the one with the Duke
We love that guy here.
>>
Mostly would be comfort vs weight, it will depend significantly on what the end goal is. So if you are doing trips that are over 150miles a day keeping a high speed on the highway, then picking up the ADV is better. Yet I would say that it will also depend quite a bit of the bike itself that you are considering, if it where to pick one of the same brand like KTM 390 ADV R vs Enduro R, imo I just think the Enduro is a better pick for the price, yet you will have a crappier light and miss on having a GPS mount vs the other one, yet there's always workarounds on these things and that will depend on the person.
