Is this the ultimate dad car?
>good power
>Honda reliability
>5 doors and usable backseats
>manual shifter
>very fun to corner, despite being fwd

Price is a bit high though but on the other hand for 50k there is no better alternative imo. What do you think of it?

>Supercharged V8, Boomer appeal
>Lots of space for road trips with the kids
>Drivetrain is proven
>Doesn't look like a boiracer car
>>
>>28658188
Out of production.
Limited market.
Rare because hardly anyone bought them.
>>
>>28658189
This, I could buy an ss of the same year for 30k less then make it 1000bhp with 15k leftover for other shit.
Fuck boomers and their hsv

Sadly we don't have them in Europoor

>Out of production
Not a big deal, lots of cars are out of production. The Commodore uses a really common drive train and they sold heaps of them so parts are plentiful
>limited market
Not sure why this matters if you want one
>Rare
Definitely less wagons than sedans but they're easy to get.
>Cost
Definitely costs more than buying a cheaper model and modding it.
>>
>>28658221
Limited market matters if you live anywhere that's not Australia
>>
There is nothing wrong with FWD. All responses are either cope or skill issue.

WRX VB is a better dadmobile
>cheaper
>AWD
>seats 5
>>
>>28658510
270hp in 2025 is not enough, especially when you are losing a lot of that from the AWD.
>>
>>28658185
I don't know about that - I don't see anything about it that makes it worth it other than seeming more like an adult.

>>28658320
0-60 times and oversteer stupidity ARE parts of a sports car, as someone who got the CTR.

>>28658510
Hear reliability is shit. Looks pretty bad in comparison. Overall, it was an option if you need 4 seats, which I don't.

>>28658550
It would be fine, but it's not the same in terms of all other aspects either.

I think the consensus that I am gravitating toward is that the CTR is pretty expensive for what it is, and at the end of the day it's compromise if you want some hp, are ok with paying $500 for front pads, but don't want to pay more.
>>
>>28658959
Also, see my post here >>>28651457 and ama about it, but I probably don't know. Ever since I got it, I lost all interest in cars

$40k C7
>>
>>28658982
C7 is the only car today that beats the Supra. There is one key component to dad cars though - not having to spend days under them, which a beat-to-shit C7 won't qualify for. And then there is the whole "have to get the Z06" aspect, because let's be honest, at that point you want to be the undisputed king and not have supras, Mustang GTs, other Corvettes, M2s/M3s, 718s, etc step to you.
>>
>>28658320
This
>>
>>28658185
I agree the ITS is more of a dad car than the CTR.
The CTR is more childless husband.
>>
>>28658320
There's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just objectively worse in every single performance metric possible.
>>
>>28658182
This feels like the most invisible car. Literally no one gives a shit about it and the Golf R. Even the GR Yaris/Corolla get more attention. I still don't know wtf a GR Corolla is and why it exists.

I enjoy working on my cars and having my kids help.

>"have to get the Z06" aspect
mooncricket mentality.
>>
>>28659046
Toyota developed the GR Yaris as a homologation car for a WRC rulebook that didn't eventuate. Because the normal Yaris isn't sold in the US, federalizing the low-volume GR Yaris would not have been worthwhile for Toyota, so they decided to do the easy thing and create a GR variant of the Corolla instead, using the same guts.
>>
>>28658182
If if came in wagon then it may be acceptable.
>>
Audi A6 Avant or Volvo V60/90 diesel would probably be the ultimate imo but I'm european.
>>
>>28658182
At least all the vents are functional and spray a bunch of dirt on the car.
>>
>>28658221
85k for a 9 year old automatic car lol boomers are fucked in the head
>>
>>28659184
HSV + wagon makes an expensive combination, plus relatively low km.
You can get manual sedan SSVs for a lot less. They're about $10k cheaper if you're willing to go for the 6L instead of the 6.2
>>
>>28659233
And a hsv is just a slightly modified commodore they are not worth double the price.
Maybe if it was a 1khp hsv it would be worth double the price of an ss
>>
>>28658550
A 227hp car will easily break every speed limit in the country, and go faster than you should ever drive with your kids in the car.
>>
>>28658182
A responsible parent should never be transporting their kids in a car that sits at below headlight level with the average vehicle.
>>
>>28658959
VB WRX is remarkably reliable. CTR can have issues going into limp mode with fuel pumps/fuel regulators.

>>28658550
Its like 250whp, its 2025 horsepower.

Personally I bought a VA STi for $16k because its half the price of everything else on the market even if the engine blows up and it still feels very nice to drive from how mechanical it is.

>>28659046
IRL its hard to miss a Civic with a big black carbon fiber wing and wide arches. The Corolla is only visible from the widebody.

>>28658986
$40k C7 is pretty damn reliable because its not a old car, and its as fast as anything you listed unless you're a shit driver (or vice versa).
>>
>>28658182
Actually the ultimate dad car is a 80s Corvette that struggles to make 200hp with 5.7L of displacement.
>>
>>28658182
you can get a used Vette for that money but you can't drive stick and you gotta have McDonald's struts on every corner, wrenchlet.
>>
>>28658182
The ultimate dad car is a car which increases your productivity as a father. Ergo, a minivan.

How is the reliability of the Type R? Can I drive this thing forever, like 300.000km+ or will it fall apart close to the 200k? Service / oil change every year included.

When I look for used ones, also older gens, they all sit at around 100k km
>>
>>28659684
This. They're just so good.
>>
>>28660501
At least you can reach stuff in the bay, unlike on the Z. Should be fairly reliable, but there is a bunch of sensors still. I imagine they will all glitch out before 200k, but could be wrong.

Yeah bro you really showed that right turn whose boss on your all seasons. (Inb4 something something onramps)

A dad mobile is a boring npc car made for utility not this garbage gookshit made for retarded weebs. If you're a grown ass man still driving a Riced out fwd honda you're a literal disgrace to your family.

It's ok - faster in a straight line / 4WD, but other than that it's a preference thing and it's less reliable just by virtue of being a VW for sure.

This is actually the ultimate Dad car (maverick xl hybrid awd 4k tow). You don't like to hear it but it's true. I just got mine a couple days ago and the electric torque is hilarious, I can floor it at any time and it instantly accelerates like an EV.

I can gap almost every vehicle on the road (for 2 seconds).
>>

sedans are pretty fucking gay dude
>>
>>28659233
In burgerland the only difference between the two engines is about 1.2mm of engine bore size. A 6.0 could easily take 6.2 pistons on a rebuild but everything for a 6.2 is wildly expensive, while you could turn any 6.0 into an ls2 for about $500. I'll never understand it.
>>
>>28658182
Too small to haul kids with sports gear or anything from home depot. Its a rich college kids car or for childless office drones.
