ALL triangular road signs are warnings
ALL pictures road signs are information
maybe, just maybe, this road sign is WARNING you of some CRUCIAL INFORMATION that may be relevant to you in an area
it doesnt matter if the only driving you do is from münchen to berlin on das autobahn to spend your days in Berghain
as a licensed road user it is your duty to be able to comprehend and decipher such confusing pictograms to ensure the safety of yourself and other road users

if I showed you a French-Canadian stop sign, you'd not be confused by the fact it says "arret" instead of "stop", despite the fact that even the french in france say "stop" on their signs, you'd know its a stop sign BECAUSE ITS A BIG RED OCTOGN, THE SAME AS ALL STOP SIGNS

anyone that driven 250km, let alone 250k km would understand that

I even asked if I could go drop off the key and they basically just told me it was getting parted out or auctioned as scrap. Guy seemed somewhat competent, was looking at the service department's quote on the phone with me and they wanted "$4500 for damaged fairings and two front turn signals alone. I won't even go into the powerparts catalog things as they're on a whole separate quote"

Yup. you found it. It's where the turn signal broke off and lightly scraped the paint. Nevermind the two other scratches when I dropped a ladder on it in the garage and covered it with honda rallye red touchup paint.
The BMW emblems are a separate cost from the fairings too but I wasn't told what it was.

they don't get to refuse, it's not their bike until you sign over the title. You can take it back from them any time you want. If the damage is as you say, the bike is 100% rideable and based on these pictures you don't even really need to do anything at all to it. One pannier has a scuff, the other is bent. If you can bend it so it closes you can keep it. Your engine guard is scuffed. It's whole job is to get scuffed.
If they're dicking you around, write to your state insurance commission. Takes 5 minutes and can be done online. https://www.michigan.gov/difs/consumers/complaint
this complaint goes straight to someone at the insurer who handles the insurance co's relationship with the state of MI, it's outside the normal insurance team and will light a fire under your adjuster's ass
if you post your contract with personal info redacted i can take a look at it and maybe give you some options, i fucking hate insurance cos
you should do this for every single insurance claim of any kind

if a dealership signed the title for a bike over to you, they wouldn't give you a few days/weeks processing time before they expect payment

I've always purchased bikes after the first night frost in late october/november when used, and when new previous model years early in feb/march.
It all depends on how much the discount is worth it to you and whether you're financing and have a place to store the bike. Sometimes even a heated storage unit for the four months can be $300-$400 which could still be ahead overall.
>>28672916
I've heard of it happening, but the one time I saw a bike get knocked over it was by a lady backing into it with her car and driving off. It seemed malicious but could've just been retardation.

286cc, rebel needed new tires and was wrecked with insurance dealing with it so I wasn't riding for about 4-5 months. I feel more retarded than when I was completely new because now I'm harder on the throttle, lean, and I keep doing shit from memory that i lost the muscle memory for. Not only am I applying too much throttlw when setting up a downshift but im using throttlw upshifting and downshifting when I shouldn't. I don't need to be on the throttle upshifting, but when I'm not paying attention I keep doing it now.
>>

Not really. You will have a whole month dealing with getting paperwork and title as well as time to do short trips to get comfortable for riding season.

>month of paperwork
what. you can get a paper tag and just keep it with you or figure out a way to put on the back. Insurance is just a phone call with a credit card.
I don't know what other paperwork you need unless you don't have an endorsement.

between now and march is actually the best time to buy

>now
people coming to the end of the season looking to shift their bikes because they want a change, or are quitting
>after xmas
desperate people that need a quick cash-in (youre being ethical by saving them from debt)
>after blue monday (3rd monday of Jan)
(the least ethical, but best deals) loads of people kill themselves, and their family sells off their shit, they dont know how much much its worth
>march
start of the new season, people realise they actually want a new bike, so sell their old one

the only problem is getting the bike home, if you travel a distance for it, dont have a trailer and the weather is turbodogturd in your country i.e. uncleared snow or sideways rain

I've had to run out in nickel sized hail with nothing but a plastic bowl on my head to get a car in a garage before. Does this hurt in full riding gear?
>>
>>28672989
>month dealing with getting paperwork
what kind of 3rd world, red tape, prohibitive bureaucratic shithole do you live in?
you look the dealer dead in the eye, sit on the bike, shake his hand, and ride off within 15mins, even buying brand new (like an idiot)
a V5C can be done electronically in like 5mins

what do you think?
most gear only really covers shoulders/elbows/outside hips/knees, and back if your lucky

Yes. hail seeks nuts and pieces where the armor is thin. Left paintball type welts, and the adams apple is not immune. it's the one type of weather I hope to never get caught out in ever again.

Maybe this is why ride now is considered kinda shit. It took a month for them to get me everything so i was riding with an expired paper tag that entire time.

I used to use a cover but stopped because it seemed to just trap moisture and condensation within the cover to rust the bike. It was a Yamaha branded cover too. I just leave the bike in the shade now under a tree to protect from UV damage. Not worried about rain anymore since it just cleans the bike. Sometimes I have to take rust cleaner to some bolts to clean off surface rust other than that the bike looks mint no different than some garage queen.

Ride now around here is that + salesmen who try to upsell but then want to drag you through massive financing pits + 2K Dealer "service charge" + tip
>>
>>28673021
>ride now
at a cursory glance, sounds like yankee version of SuperBike Factory
yeah i'd avoid places like that, national "salesroom" where they just ship the bikes around to get upsell people who arent willing to drive more than 30mins to look at their dream toy
try to find private sellers, shits always much, MUCH easier because bikers know bikers and wont try to scam you. salemen mostly dont ride and just want commission.
>>
>>28673027
I only trust the random parts guy at mine because he kept me from the salesman convincing me to start on a beat up w800.
>>
>>28673026
Would some kind of moisture absorbing box under the cover help? Asking as someone who will probably have to keep a bike under a cover outside soon.
>>
>>28673034
The service guys in the back are typically pretty cool, if not overworked because they are the only cool ones at the stealership

The guys up front can burn in hell

KTM 390's in general are turbo underpriced compared to nipshit, literally buy 2 used rc390 for the same price as a used ninja 400. You can buy a BRAND NEW rc390 for 5k Canadian pesos, its crazy.

White people in the midwest are unusually kind to the point it often makes me uncomfortable.
She pulled up next to me and the bike and kept yelling at me to get inside. I politely declined and chose to ride away nearly eating it on the nearby roundabout.

Ah, i see my msf coach talk to those guys when i go there for various dumb shit I don't have tools for. I think my msf coach regrets passing me. Its fair lmao. He saw me, saw me the day I picked it up after months in repair and asked me "are you sure you should be riding" when he was showing off his new gs to one of the shop guys.

I assume it is more because I went through the course on a grom and terrified people by leaning on every turn, i didn't even sit up right and it made the right hand turn at stop impossible but everything else I could do. But I own a rebel 300, this cannot lean and is absolutely the wrong bike but after my crash leaning in the rain I'm a bit scared to lean now.

Comfy times were had on my XR150L last night on my longest trip yet. Had 250 miles ahead of me to visit my cousin and stopped halfway through for a break, rode into the woods and idled the bike to run my headlights and USB port to charge my phone and browse this general while sitting on it while eating goldfish I had in the rear box. Used the engine to heat my hands. The way the bike isn't comfy for that purpose as it's designed for 35mph backroads and dirt trails makes it more comfy. It's not much but it gets you there.
>>
>>28673189
I'd jump if I could. I don't think he'd be too happy to let me test ride if I slowly shuffle up his driveway with a walking cane shaking a bottle of oxy.
>>28673036
Some covers have vents in them that regulate moisture to basically be the same as ambient.
In hot sun I've even noticed a slight breeze coming out of these vents.

Finished the ultrasonic cleaning of the injectors and got it all back together. Going to test ride tomorrow. I doubt it will fix the sub 8000rpm touchy throttle issue but at least I know the injectors are clean now.
I do think maybe they were a little clogged or sticking because the ecu has been tuned by two wheel dyno works, and three of the plugs looked like it was running slightly lean. One plug looked perfect. However, that could have been from the valves being out of spec before I did the adjustment.
I did however find out that there is in fact a center sync screw for the throttle bodies to sync the two banks together. Found the procedure and pictures in the service manual. Never could get the vacuum sync quite right. Numbers were jumping around and one side has screws all the way out, other side all the way in. So I'm going to back them all the way out and start from zero and do it the way the manual says now that I have that, instead of just pulling shit from decade old forum posts. Kek.
One thing at a time though. Need to see if the injector cleaning did anything.

>>28673216
Why isn't anyone else admiring how comfy this is? I'm NTA but I want to do this now on my Grom.
>>
>>28673318
From today I'm carrying spare fuses in case this happens again so I can pull over and fix it right away but I still think this is poor engineering.
