ask yourself WHY they sell for nothing
go back about a week and we had this discussion with a german who wanted to buy a cfmoto

the after sale (if you get from a "dealer") is non existent
spares, parts and repairs are few and far between
all user manuals are in terrible chinglish

people buy them new on tax incentive schemes
realise theyre shit, and cut their losses, then buy an established western or jap brand instead
dont waste your time getting burned,
theyre just skinsuit companies designed to help china shoehorn into the western market
you'll see the same with indian-made bikes in a few years, now that they own KTM, except the build quality will be even worse
>>
>>28675820
apology for what, for saying trident 800 instead of saying trident 798?
>>
>>28675818
No, used market is dominated by name brands, value is determined by name brand notoriety. Its why Gucci can sell a plain t shirt for $300, despite offering no advantage over any other $10 one.

China is already more advanced than the western world and Japan, its very likely better put together.
>>

just because they have a branch, doesnt mean they'll be useful
sometimes you'll break a niche part of your bike, like a clutch lever
and they'll only replace with brand parts, but that part isnt being produced right now, so you have to wait 2 months for them to batchmake it, then 2 months shipping, so youre without a bike for 4

many such cases

Yeah Insta360 is nice, but more expensive for no really any gain. The actual 360 camera from them is probably worth the insane price, if you want to set up a selfie stick behind you. I didn't really notice a difference between the action 5 over 4 to justify the cost increase, the only thing to note is that the battery on the 5 lasts way longer, but the 5 batteries actually work in the 4, so when you buy an extra battery you can just get the better one as your extra.

how much of an impact does getting new gloves wet actually make on their fit? i just got some new held phantom pros to replace my old phantoms in the same size but the fit is a little off on the new ones - left index knuckle is kinda tight and hot spotty and the thumbs have an extra 1/2" of empty leather at the tip. would soaking them in water and wearing them till they dry out fix that kind of thing or should i return them?

I can understand people wanting midrange bikes, like a 600rr, r6/r7, 636, gixxer750 etc. because realistically, youre more likely to be able to push that to its limits vs a leaderbike
but i dont get the 800-just under 1000 class of bikes, its just a leaderbike but worse, and youre not winning on emissions or tax or anything

Picked up an XR1200X from the local Honda dealer with less than 6000 miles. Fully aware that Harleys are gay but I've wanted one since they were new. It's joining my Enfield 650 and the CBR1000 project. Took it out to the Dragon two weeks ago, appreciating how I can actually sit upright.

Finally fixed up my bike after 10 months. Feels so good to ride man!
>2002 Vulcan EN500
>did entire rear end
>rear tyre
>new drive chain (shit Chinesium Caltric for $40)
>rear sprocket
>new chain tensioners
>new rear brakes (these were a bitch)
>painted the scratches and dents from dropping the bike
>new rear brake lever
It still needs more parts though. Gonna do an LED conversion, gotta tighten the rear brake light spring, probably need to add a little fixaflat to the front tire, gonna swap the front brake pads, and bleed the front brakes. Moreover, I gotta buy a better chain, because this Caltric one rusts insanely fast. Also gonna tune the carb, swap the sparkplugs, and do an oil change before end of year.

Shop kitty's name is Buttercup. So far her favorite bike is the Ducati. She loves to rub up against the rear axle in particular of that bike and get her white fur all greasy. Lmao. Got her spayed. She's been in doors exclusively for a week now. I haven't seen the hawks in a while, so hopefully they moved on. I think they did in fact get the other cat with opposable thumbs before I was able to bring him inside and make him my own cat, but at least I was able to save Buttercup. I'm going to ease her back outdoors on Sunday, because I can tell she wants to go back outside. Hopefully, I can let her outside during the day while I'm at work so she can hunt mice, and bring her back inside to feed her at night.

why dont motorbike manufacturers just put the gas tank under the seat? that would save space i think

also why did motorbikes move past the "motorized bicycle" early motorbike concepts? would a motorized bycicle still make sense ? at what point do you really need to turn a bicycle with an engine into a normal motorbike?

With the same tiny engine, I guess. However you now have electrically assisted bicycles that will go just as fast if not faster and give you a very usable range for the same weight.

I am a diehard R9 hater, but I have to admit that the mods are looking pretty promising and they seem to be reliable. I will trust Two Wheel Dyno Works on just about everything.
In factory configuration, the R9 is still pretty meh tier. Especially with the cracked frames. However, if Yamaha could make the adjustments and squeeze these numbers out from the factory reliably, it would be a killer platform. Make it so you just need exhaust and tune when you pull it off the showroom floor.

I'm going to say this again, but why does anyone care about modifying sub-leaders to go faster when you can literally just go out and buy a used leader bike for less than just the mods cost to still be slower than a leader. I mean it probably costs more to get an R9 to 140 hp than just buying a brand new off the shelf R1 with 199 hp.

Both look generic and uninspired, so no arguments there either.

I mean how LOW IQ do you have to be to spam pictures of hot chicks next to your favorite PRODUCT just like actual real life ADVERTISEMENTS do. Be sure it's the clutch and not just first gear doing first gear things.
Mine does the same thing when I shift into first and hold the clutch in, but only when it's in first. It's basically not a problem.

they used to be like that, but as they got bigger and bike got more complex, it became a hassle
some of the BMWs their tanks in different places, like the F800GT having the tank at the back, and harley put the tank under the seat on the new (2022) nightster they tried a couple years ago, but it was massively inconvenient and people hated it, since it makes you more vulnerable at gas stations if you prefer to stay on your bike to refill
ergonomically it was actually a massive success, but practically its too annoying to deal with

Euro4/Euro5 emission and noise standards
every single bike you buy post about 2010-12, you have to put an aftermarket exhaust on
the manufacturers know this, the customers know this, the dealership knows this, the exhaust makers know this
but the prices dont come down, and even optioning exhaust on the model have to be noise and emissions restricted

I went to look at a 2018 fireblade recently (sue me, I like hoonder, fuck the litrebike "whos the best" arguments, rule of cool) and it had an aftermarket Akrapovic on it, but to buy the bike I had to also accept the dealerships stock Akrapovic(for free), which was euro4 and still connected to the cat, because they didnt want it, and they refused to sell the bike without it
its all a jewish scam

The alps and the dangerous woods is one of the best bikes Honda has ever made and I'm serious. If that's the bike, it's in great shape. you have to be cautious because these bikes are usually bought by people who want to run them into the dirt doing offroad things. That looks like stock footage so be on guard just buying these things off Facebook. They're honders, so you can fix them, but you can easily buy one where the juice isn't worth the squeeze

ergonomically its great, it lets you have a super low centre of gravity
but youre just pumping the gas slightly backwards to the motor
on a full sized bike, youre pumping it against the inertia(?) and usually upwards to the motor, making it costly and cumbersome

that is indeed the bike in the picture, there are other pictures available, it looks clean with 50k kms on the clock (30k miles)
its being sold for 5k$, its pretty expensive for what it is, but a new transalp costs 20k$ here so the price isnt too unreasonable
i'm just concerned with parts availability if something breaks
>>
>>28677656
im 5'9, those are too tall for me
no other reason, i would prefer the AT over the TA otherwise

That's nothing for a Honder, man. You hit the jackpot and I am mad jelly.

>5K
holy
fuckin'
SEXO grab it tomorrow

ngl anon if there is no catch to this then I'm mad jelly. I'm looking for a similar bike in the states and I'm running into the 'Buy new because none of the owners of the originals are ever selling' problem.

>im 5'9, those are too tall for me
are you gay?
theyre made for japs from the 80s, these bikes are MADE for midgets
lanklets have to LIFT them to make them rideable
dont let your dreams be memes, go out and test ride one and you'll see its fine
>>

are you a top or a bottom?

you fuckers always say the same thing yet in my 2024 honda CL250 (790mm seat height) i can barely get both feet flat down, what the fuck is the catch here
>>
>>28677682
some people have a (short leg / long torso) body build.
i have this build which made it difficult to be fitted to a correctly sized pushbike for competition riding.
>>
>>28677679
im straight anon sorry
>>28677687
im afraid i do have this build
>>
>>28677682
it's one of two things, either he means your inseam length which varies from person to person. Or he's shitposting and thinks you're going to be gain 10 cm inseam length by "just lifting at the gym bro".

seatconcepts are your friend. Even if you buy the Transalp (I'm the anon that says you should stop arguing with yourself and do it) you should look into a lower seat height. Lowering kit, preload, and triple tree adjustments should be the last things you consider, but are still a possibility.
>>

>im afraid i do have this build
I had to Purchase™ the optional lower seat for my XMAX which is a whopping 40mm lower than the stock seat. Perhaps that option is available for you too.
>>

Yeah. But it was noticably louder than usually. Rebel 300. I kinda blanked out and realized I am approaching a speed bump and just quickly let go of the clutch though.
>>
>>28677691
honestly you sort of convinced me, i own another 99 honda (accord) and im in love with it, and i want the new transalp but i dont have the money for that so i'm thinking of selling my CL and buying this, if i can
>>
>>28677697
it's probably nothing. what has likely happened is you weren't thinking about noises like that until you dumped the clutch and became acutely aware that you could have caused a problem.
>>
>>28677699
>i own another 99 honda (accord)
>wants to buy a bike form '99
>gets 99 dubs
this is the way
>>

>i can barely get both feet flat down
youre not supposed to be able to do that on every single bike you ride
when I ride my 1300GS I only flatfoot one side(5'8)
as long as the bikes moving, you dont need to foot down

if a 5'3 brown womanlet amerimutt can ride a GS, why are you afraid of a jap adv?

Thats what I am hoping. First gear is fuckoff loud in general but again this was a louder whine than I am used to. Like it is louder than the ebay exhaust I put on still.

good luck anon.
I'm lukewarm on if the new transalp is for everyone. the new transalp is fun, yeah, but is a maintenance behemoth. how do you change the air filter on the bike you're buying?

how do you change the air filter on a new 2025 transalp?

>take all the fairings off and lift the gas tank

anyone taller than 5"8 is a power bottom

Currently riding a rental bike while mine is in the workshop. Gonna try pulling some wheelies today.

oh, just in general you twist the throttle and see if there is any sufficient speed increase. no speed increase then your clutch is fried.

you dont have ears and/or a phone?

gonna need a recording to say for sure in that case, sad to say.

i dont get the hate for the new transalp
>air filter is hard to change
you need to do that how often? you'll be fine
>exposed sump
any bike you wanna take off-road, you have to upgrade the factory skid plate anyway, besides the 2025 models come standard with the skidplate
>bad on offroad
it's more capable for most things that its buyers are capable of, and it's undoubtedly the best in its class for everything else, the 92 hp hornet engine is a future classic
for the extra money something like a v-strom costs, you can upgrade the suspension on the new TA and have a better bike in every way

Gentlemen, it is done. I bought the choppah baby. Fucking dumped it on a left turn in too high of a gear though. carb sputtered out and I gave it too much throttle while turning to keep it from dying, just ended up eating shit. A quick tuck and roll and I was back at it though. I dont know why down shifting feels sketchy. I really gotta figure out the sweet spot.

If I brake, and pull in the clutch and I'm in say 3rd gear, then let the clutch back out while giving it some throttle because "oops I didnt actually need to come to a complete stop" am I just going to eat shit? Please advise, I'd like to continue living.

oh wait i just realized a lot of scooters still have the gas tank under the seat too
