My best friend, who isn't me, originally wanted a Honda Grom for (unlawfully and in Minecraft) filtering through traffic during rush hour. But then he saw this image of the Navi and changed his mind to it instead. It's much less expensive, but is a scooter with an automatic transmission, and uses a carburetor and not EFI.

Is my friend right to choose to Navi over the Grom?

I'm discovering new shit about my bike every time I start so, so here's another question: Why does the Honda RoadSync app prevent me from using the keyboard on my phone?

Every time I start it, the app somehow actives the PHYSICAL keyboard on my phone, which isn't connected (because it does not exist). It automatically disables the normal android keyboard until I showdown the Honda app.

It's not entirely unusable, but if I want to use the bike's navigation, I have to plot the target on google maps before connecting phone and bike, because once they're connected my phone doesn't have keys anymore.

It's such a random and stupid bug/feature.

i would go less of mileage and more off whether it looks like some retards babbys first wrenching project.

i'd rather buy one w/15,000 miles from an autist who rode trails than 3,000 miles from some wannabe stunter

>I've not rode a bike since I did my cbt in 2017
So you need another CBT and a 125cc bike max until you pass your test.

How about spending some of it on a direct access course for the unrestricted 'A' loicence? Then start having a look about. I am more drawn to old quixotic bikes myself but that is just me. I know a neighbour with a 1950s Sunbeam hidden in his garage that he hasn't riden for twenty years and no longer can. That might be a quixotic gesture too far.

What are you guys using for music/audio during solo rides?
The more I've read up on the topic, the more boils down to either Cardo or Sena. Both seem good but pricy choices, especially for somebody who first and foremost wants to listen to music.

Which system do you prefer or do you use something entirely different?
I've tried bluetooth headphones for a while, but they're super uncomfortable underneath the helmet so I won't be using them again.

in the UK you need to do Compulsory Basic Training before proceeding with riding anything above 50cc, or taking lessons on a big bike
>>
>>28685964
You put speakers on the inside of the helmet using velcro/adhesive. Some helmets have pockets for the speakers.

I only have experience with Cardo's Freecom, so I'll bitch about that one here. It does exactly what it's supposed to, which is play music from your phone, make phone calls, and allow chat to other Freecoms.

Voice recognition is a half assed implementation. It works 2 out of 3 times. One handed operation is better, but you will need to read the manual because the UI is unintuive (tap volume dial to hangup, comms button is easy to miss). They also made a weird decision that once you've paired two devices, any loud noise like a cough or cursing will often start up an intercom call.
>>
>>28685961
I use plugfones most of the time. My Shoei has the integrated Sena SRL Mesh which is nice. But that's not really my go-to helmet for some unrelated reasons. Only real downside to plugfones is that the mic is basically unusable since it's fully exposed to wind. But the upside is that they actually protect your ears, ANC can't do that which is why bluetooth earbuds don't advertise any kind of NRR.

ADV Rider is hosting the Trans Florida ADV rally, which is a 2-day tour and I'm trying to convince myself to take my 250 to attend. It's coming up in 3 weeks and I want to go so bad but holy shit I'm unprepared. No camping gear, no spare tubes, haven't packed, haven't made camping or hotel reservations. If I started a month ago I could have gone.

Or if I just say 'stop being such a pussy' and go then I could make it.

New japanese 125cc bikes cost around 4-5k, while the same modela with big engines cost double of that. Does it mean the engine somehow doubles the price? Or everything in the bigger bike is twice as expensive - forks, brakes, seat etc? Or it's just a marketing bullshit?
>>
>>28686516
no, what it means is that the market is absolutely fucked. Those 125cc bikes used to be considered the absolute cheapest transportation you could buy, Flips and Pinoys can afford them in their po-dunk countries where they make $200 a month. Bring the same bikes, with the same engines, and the same components to America, maybe upgrade the lighting and add a cork to the exhaust and suddenly, it's $5000 - $7000

The Super Cub, considered the AK-47 of motorized two-wheeled transportation, is one of the worst offenders. Considered cheap enough for high schoolers in indonesia to afford with piggy bank money, pay attention to this OTD price quoted to someone in America:
https://youtu.be/LQ39z6ymT90&t=36

None of these bikes, even with freight fees, should cost more than $2000. The engine size isn't what's important, the size of Uncle Sam and his Stealership's cut is what's important. This is because jew worship is the official religion of America.
>>

it's also because Americans aren't allowed to afford any transportation that can keep up with road traffic for under $6K. Because Americans need at least one vehicle with a license tag in order to function in their Stroad society, or Stroadciety, if cheap transportation isn't harshly regulated to be out of the hands of The Poors then no one would go into debt to buy their $50,000 Debt Cagies.

I really hope that headstud helicoil holds. It took torque fine so I imagine it should be okay.

Hoonda Australia has no scooter in the 150/160 segment because the PCX and the ADV both have a drum brake on the rear and anything above 125cc in Australia must have ABS f/r.

So Yamaha's NMAX 155 is dominating sales.

When will Honda put an ABS disc brake on the rear of their bikes? I want a PCX so much it's unreal.

$6600 base or $7500 for the SE model that comes with a nicer TFT dash, big windshield, bigger skidplate, metal handguards, and LED signals, as well as better colors. Ninja 500 motor like we thought, looks pretty well thought out in general - frame wraps around the engine, exhaust is decently tucked, etc. Only thing we don't know yet is weight but they call it "light" in the video, guessing 400ish.

Pic related is probably my next bike.

>>
>>28687476
Also, this thing has some significant advantages over the Transalp as well. It's smaller and should be significantly lighter, and is just generally designed better for off road use, with much better engine protection. Kawi also has a history of making better off road suspension than Honda. Also some more subtle stuff like coming stock with handguards, even if they suck it means you can just bolt good ones out with no hassle. People probably wouldn't buy it for the same price but combined with the much lower MSRP I think it'll do really well.

What really sucks is that the guy powder-coated the frame so the extra oil-reservoir with the oil-filter is unusable. So i guess im gonna get some aftermarket oil-cooler and external filter and hope the engine is fine.

I think underpowered is unlikely, it won't be fast but it should be plenty for highway cruising etc. 50hp for sure and probably 430lb at most so it'll at least be on par with the 390 Adventure and Himalayan 452 but it's a twin so it'll be much more comfortable at high RPM if you have to rev it out to hold 80.

Weight is really the big potential dealbreaker but I'm guessing 400-410ish based on the Ninja's 380lb weight and the fact that they're making a point of it being light, plus looking at KTM the 390 Adventure is about 25lb heavier than the 390 Duke so I'd guess there'll be a similar relationship between the Ninja 500 and KLE.

My KLX is already full of non-ethanol and Sta-Bil and on the battery tender, and they're forecasting as much as 24" of snow this weekend in the mountains, which is where pretty much all of the trails are. There's a good chance I won't be able to ride again until April unless I get lucky with good weather on one of my days off. It absolutely blows my mind that we still don't have a tough-as-shit twin cylinder bike in the 500-650cc/50-60hp range. The fucking A2 license bullshit has made a God damn no-mans land right in the sweet spot between every budget, race-to-the-bottom 450 twin and a T7.

Right so get this yeah. I can't insure shit because my country's cucked. 9yrs of continuous riding and no accidents, tickets, claims, and low crime area yet I can't insure a tidy Ducati sportsbike.

Now there are these french boyos who make aluminium tube frames for these bikes. The ownership paperwork follows the frame so a new frame = new bike. Call it a custom and get specialist insurance which might be more accessible

These things look eerily similar to Ducati scrambler 1100 frames though. Perhaps starting with a cheap to insure scrambler base is good. The 1100 motor would be a blast.
Or I could mangle a new monster into a sportbike frock
My best ideas are found at the bottom of the bottle

I don't really maintain my chain. Unless it's covered in mud/sand which had only happened to me exactly once, I don't really see the point. Chain/sprocket lasted me almost 20k miles, never had issues with shifting or power lag etc... It's only a SV650 but I ride it pretty hard. It would have been more expensive to use products to maintain it just to squeeze a bit more miles out of it. I've also never changed my coolant and probably never will.

I know a lot of guys give the Ibex 450 an envious sideeye so this will appeal to them, especially at $7k. But you know what bike this is absolutely going to bury, assuming the suspension is quality and they made the 451 produce torque at low rpm? The nx500.

No-one's buying Suzukies. On their US website you can still find a 2022 brand new SV for sale. And that's a real V-twin, not P-storm, yet we're two months away from 2026 and no one wants it.
