its ai from a japanese twitter account that just spams "anime style" "manga style" in the keywords
you cant identify if because its not a real bike, its what AI interprets an "anime" style bike to be
>>
>>28682827
but the AI must have been trained with pics of real bikes so this bike would be an amalgamation of multiple bikes

unlike these bikes which is clearly identifiable

are you fucking dense you ESL retard?
you ask it to draw a "kawasaki"
it has 1,000,000 references to a kawasaki
it doesnt know exactly HOW a kawasaki looks
it doesnt know HOW to put together a kawasaki
it amalgamates what it thinks is APPROXIMATELY a kawasaki
it cannot redraw EXACT things
it can draw APPROXOMATIONS
which is why you can vaguely say
>that is a motorbike
>that is a tyre
>that is the suspension
however, you cannot identify any of these things because they are NOT REAL
they are an INTERPRETATION of DATAPOINTS

it very may well be that these tyres are BASED on Michelin Reggae, but thats a scooter tyre
it has 2 fenders and 3 break lights
a single sided suspension arm, with an ohlins preload adjustor
the chain is hidden inside the housing of a shotterscooter, but it clearly has the exhaust and ergonomics of a motorbike
and to top it all off, the character has a right foot

It's fine in the city too. It feels surprisingly nimble (better geometry than a softail), and its weight isn't an issue unless you drop it for some reason. Filtering is less available, but that's really the only difference between this bike and the smaller bikes I've had. The gearing lets you tractor through downtown traffic in 2nd no problem, and the bike actually converts one cylinder to pumping air to cool the engine when you're forced to a crawl in hot weather.

>you ask it to draw a "kawasaki"

>Filtering is less available
For me this is a deal breaker because filtering passed cagers is the most enjoyable part of motorcycling. When they honk their horns in frustration it's hilarious.

>pic
Are you not allowed to park your bike on the sidewalk? We're pretty much forced to in Australia because if we park our bike in a car space some cager will kick it over because their limited parking spaces are precious to them.

You were saying that is a positive. There's one near me for relatively cheap but idk I've heard people call it the SUV of bikes: a big, bulky bike that has loads of off-road features nobody uses.

>the chinese will dominate the market in less than 10 years
They definitely could, they had perfect opportunity to do that from 2015. But chinese demographics and market hit its wall, and now it's too late. CFMOTO 450MT was the last try after all those Lifans and Voges, yet they failed miserably and now at least in my european country our aftermarket is full of dirtcheap cfmotos with 2k km on clock without anybody wanting to ride them.

What these chinese bots should do instead is propose creating a new motorcycle brand and pay another marketing campaign in EU and US, maybe next time you will sell more (unlikely).

The older Vstroms are odd ducks. They're somewhere between upright sport touring and dedicated ADV. Mostly road focused, they tried adding some offroady trims in the later years. The 1050 is still a pot bellied pig, even the DE. The 800DE seems like a much more sincere attempt to make a Tenere-fighter. They're genuinely excellent to ride, especially for a tall guy, they're just not sexy.
>>
>>28682911
Ok, now unironically what does Vstrom have from an adventure motorcycle?
>>
>>28682907
I still see voge around, they just released a new bike recently.
There's like no dealers that carry them though, I think CFMoto did the best thing a chink brand could do to break into the wider market: start on side-by-sides and ATVs which people don't care too much about being quality to establish a dealer presence before jumping to bikes.
>>

That sounds really based.

Ah. So actually for me, this is probably what I should be going for from a practicality standpoint. I ride alone so I don't really care about showing off to others

>Are you not allowed to park your bike on the sidewalk?
You're not supposed to, but some people do. I used to park my Vespa on sidewalks but shop owners would bitch at me and threaten to call the cops because it was either "blocking foot traffic" to their store or "it will break my windows when it falls over" so I just stopped. I do see people doing it, but never big ass touring bikes like mine. People don't normally mess with bikes here, and I don't normally park in places where they are more likely to.

schizophrenia incoming:
>We all know how reliable 600 and 1000 engines on VStroms were and still are but the problem with the 800 is not only is it a new platform - granted, it's still a Suzuki, yes, but it also has a WAY higher engine compression ratio compared to both 600 and 1000 engines from Suzuki and basically any other motorcycle line-up that has been crowned with the reliability badge over the past few decades. In short, high engine compression is the root of all wear and tear in an engine and it is the reason why sports cars and sports bikes have such short lifespans compared to other types of vehicles. That is why all engines across all manufacturers and all platforms, which have been given the title of ''king of reliability,'' have one thing in common; low engine compression ratios (from 9:1 up to around 11.5:1), which surprisingly VStrom 800 engine is the only one and also first on in the VStrom history, to have compression ration above the VStrom standard of 11.2:1... The 800 engine has a compression ratio of 12.8:1, which is either higher than or very close to some of the crazy supersport motorcycle engines such as the ones on R1, GSXR1000, S1000RR and so on... To give you an even better perspective of just how high this engine compression is, if you were to take your or your pops good ol' BMW 3 series and do a FULL stage 2 rebuild and tune and then do a stage 2 ECU mapping - you'd be looking at a compression ratio of somewhere around 13:1 up to 13.5:1... Suzuki VStrom 800 engine has stock engine compression of 12.8:1... That's very, very high...

>Very weird that they went with such a high engine compression on that engine, when close to everyone else in the adventure segment sticks to compression ratios below 12:1... I believe KTM 790, Ducati DesertX, BMW F900 and VStrom 800 are the only adventure bikes with compression ratios above 12:1.

It's an air-cooled V-twin, is why.
>>
>>28682907
They are quite popular in Europe and some places of South America like Chile and Argentina(probably cuz Spaniard folks like it a lot in their reviews), feature-wise is pretty much a KLX for a lower price, besides Loncin which is the actual manufacturer, used to make the engines for kawasaki for many years, particularly the low cc ones. Imo I would dare to say Loncin/Voge is better than CFMoto, the only downside is that you can really notice the cut-down on certain things like the fairings and the display, they look super cheap. Recently they have released some 660cc ones, and also I think Zontes is also a branch from Loncin, yet these are more tech featured than Voge, with a nicer finish also, some even put CFMoto to shame.
The issue with Zontes and CFMoto seem to be the service more than anything, they are too expensive on some places for some weird reason. As for Voge, I would say those are more focused for the ones that fix the shit themselves and used as a spare for a fun bike.

Wanna have a dual sport to bash and beat the shit out of it on the trails that is cheap and easy to maintain? That's why you get one of those mainly.

I ride a 2008 Electra-Glide as my around town bike because I got a smoking hot deal on it after a friend's uncle died. A big Harley, Indian, or Goldwing can easily be maneuvered in tight city conditions. If they couldn't, every large city police department wouldn't buy bikes like this. No one would get them if they were absolutely unwieldy because how would you navigate a slightly parking lot.

The 19" cast wheel is more road biased, but a compromise. Not as sharp as a 17" front wheel, not as awful as a 17" on dirt roads. The 21" front wheel is to run truly dirt worthy rubber. There are a lot of great road only tires available in 19" front if you want a pavement pounder. I believe the suspension travel is lesser on the cast wheel bikes, too, but don't trust me on that and I am too drunk to fact check myself.
>>28683123
The 800 engine was primarily made to decimate the MT07 and R7 crowd. It's more powerful. They used it in the VStrom because they know they can't keep making the 650 forever. As long as the metallurgy is good, it'll be fine for the lifespan of the bike, realistically. Almost all bikes meet their end via an accident before the engine dies of natural causes.

>The 19" cast wheel is more road biased, but a compromise.

You can take a lot of bikes down dirt roads of varying shittiness with the skillset and balls. Small wheels really want to follow any disturbances in the road, or just not roll over bumps very well. These qualities are less than ideal for dirt. The 19" is less bad about this and has knobby tire options. The BMW GSA uses a 19" and that's the poster child or ADV. The 21" is the standard the industry has decided on for many years now. If you want the luggage, you're just going to have to spend extra on aftermarket boxes.

Another option for you might be a used Africa Twin. Big, comfy, powerful but not insane, reliable engine, 21" front wheel as standard prior to the latest generation.
>>28683235
36 is very young unless you take shit care of yourself + work a blue collar job. I would buy the Z900RS just because it's gorgeous and reasonably comfortable unless you see yourself doing a lot of aggressive riding and/or track.

So it's kind of a compromise touring adventure bike while something like the T7 is much more like a compromise between dual sport adventure?
>>
>>28683246
>The 19" is less bad about this and has knobby tire options. The BMW GSA uses a 19" and that's the poster child or ADV. T
I did not know that. I guess I need to research this topic a bit more because I just assumed there were dual sport tires for all rim sizes. But what you're saying makes perfect sense.
>>
>>28683253
ADV is a very broad category. It gets muddier when you have different trims that are focused on different things with the same model.
>>28683259
You can get knobbies for 17" wheels too, and 19", they just won't be as good at their job because front wheel diameter is important off-road. The T7, Africa Twin 1100, and the KTM 890 in particular are the most off-road focused ADV bikes.

I'm in the market for a new helmet. After 8 years my Shoei RF1200 is a bit tired.
I'm only looking at Arai or Shoei. Not sure if I should just get the RF1400 or maybe try out Arai's RX-7V Evo. The Arai is on sale at the moment so they're both about the same price.

Yamaha R1 still holds the record on Nürburgring since 2012. Motorcycle ban for tourists was introduced in 2025. For 13 years no other production bike could beat the record in tourist rides and since start 2025 no other motorcycle is being able to do that during private rides in this track. >Can't even think of anyone making attempts at the Nurburgring on bikes, so not really a record
Nürburgring is the biggest tourist track on this planet with people shipping their machines oversees just to ride it. It is the the one and only track to test their production motorcycles and cars, and people were doing it almost everyday for the last 98 years no less. Stop coping, R1 is just the best production bike for a track by a large margin.

best helmet to buy is the one that fits well, not the one that's most premium or the most expensive one. Get a lidpickers measurement and exclusively buy helmets that are the ideal size and shape.

best helmet I own was an online flash sale $150 Scorpion helmet. I keep trying to replace it, but nothing else fits as well.

Sure, but you can take the cheekpads out and shave them down, you can't make a circular helmet into an ovular one.

Guy is saying that zuki's 800DE 12.8:1 compression ratio is unusual for adventure/offroad bikes and is more at home in sport engines. The extra strain compared to the Vstrom 650's 11.2:1 means it's not going to be as reliable as its peers. But idk if I buy that because what kills engines isn't compression ratio but that + high RPM + shock load that sports engines would sustain. I don't think anyone is going to be taking an 800DE to a track.
>>
>>28683578
>what kills engines isn't compression ratio but that + high RPM + shock load that sports engines would sustain
more compression is more strain on the mechanical parts, so you naturally have lower durability in the long run. This isnt new or unknown.

I haven't seen anyone report 800DEs exploding yet, but then again they aren't as common of a bike and are only 4-5 years old as a platform.
I trust Suzuki has put their homework in and is using some method to reduce strain on an engine that is supposed to be for the long-haul. If ptwin 800's started dying before the old 650 v-twins do, people would be pissed. Plus it would be something they can't really say 'sorry' about considering they're trying to phase out the 650 line for them.

Went outside to take the legos back to my house and I had my car and a red panigale outside.
Wanted to ride the duc but wondered how I was gonna get the bike and car back home and figured I’d get a ride later for the car
Go back inside and get the rest of the legos but when I get outside te car and bike are gone. A guy at the end of the driveway said they got towed a couple blocks away
Start running over and see some clown parking lot attendant riding the Ducati.
Yell at him but he pretends he can’t hear over the exhaust noise

The oven in my house was designed and probably installed before I was born. I had to have it serviced recently, and the guy just swapped out a heating element, took his payment, and told me to never ever replace it unless it died completely.

I'm not saying there's never a case for electronics on a motorcycle. But I think of shit like weapon sights from Aimpoint or Trijicon as some of the most robust electronics Incan get, and one of them that lasts a decade is considered good. If manufacters put a computer on a motorcycle, it needs to be easily accessed and replaced.

I don't think I'll ever get the throttle body sync right on this bike. I think something is fucked by design. I can get it close, but the vacuum pull on the throttle bodies will always jump around by 1-4 kpa. It won't be dead solid like the other bikes I've done.
I've checked for vacuum leaks extensively and there are none. Crankcase blow by is not excessive. Only other thing I could think is worn valve guides but I don't see how the fuck that could be since oil changes were kept up with.

Anybody experienced something like this before?
>>
>>28683814
I do, its for glorious reason "r*cism" most of the time and I serve it with pride, and I'm brown btw.
>>
>>28683838
Could be some sort of gasket failure. Ik you checked vacuum but have you tried compression test / pressurized the entire system.
Alternatively it could be a stuck open/closed fuel injector or fuel pressure regulator causing inconsistency

I haven't done a leak down or compression test yet, that would be the next step. I fucked up the throttle blade sync between the two banks by doing too much adjusting. I had to pull the throttle bodies out last night and zero the blade angles to restart the whole process.
I pulled all the injectors out and ultrasonic clean. If it was an injector causing it, it would have to be all of them.

The problem is not that I can't get all the cylinders equal. I can get them all within the same range, but they all move around by 1-4 randomly. I could see worn valve guides causing that. Maybe I could see low compression causing it, but I would think less so. Probably would have to rule that stuff out before looking any further.
>>
>>28683871
>They don't like hard hits as much.
Fair. But if I just keep it on normal dirt it should be fine, right? I'm not silly enough to take a 500lb bike onto rocks.
>>
>>28683980
Just for the fuck of it, pull the fpr vacuum hose off and start/crank the bike. I doubt you'll get 100% 1:1 matching for all clyinders. Key is just closing that range as possible. You're on the right track, alternatively if there's any o2 sensors on that thing then test those too just to rule it and the fpr out.
>>
>>28683980
Properly worn guides would eat your valve seats pretty quickly, but also fuck up compression completely to the point that you're not starting that shit at all when cold.

So, I bought the Honda.
It's fun.

I could write five paragraphs about how cool (literally) it feels to finally, after 15 years of not making use of my license, to ride a bike.
Picked it up from the honda dealership in the late afternoon and spent about 2hrs driving home. 90% of that on the highway, which was very cold.

I need a garage.
And my hands hurt a little and I might've caught a cold, but I didn't die despite it being a "hurrr 1000!!!" ccm bike.
I am aware that I'm the person with literally the least riding experience in the entire thread, but I'd still like to say that apparently, if you don't WANT to ride like a racecar driver, the bike doesn't react as if the road was a racetrack. In fact, the bike reacts perfectly fine and controllable, at least in rain and normal mode.
Didn't try sports mode yet (won't for a while either), but so far I did not have a moment where I feld like the engine was ambushing me with it's power/acceleration. Hope it stays that way.

I love taking pictures of it, but I'm shit at photography.

these aren't necesssary, i ride a 800lb bike with a smaller kickstand than that and it doesn't sink in to wet ground. if you're real worried about it, get one of these, or just put a small block of wood in your saddlebag
>>
>>28684260
does your bike not have a centre stand?
>>
>>28684252
>>28684269
Better pic right after I started my way home, you can see the side stand.
Right now it's parted on a cobblestone road and the stand looks stable enough, but I can't even imagine having an 800lb bike rest it's entire weight on such a small area.
For comparison, my bike is "only" 468lb/212kg and it feels so heavy that I went out of my way to park it on stable ground.

What is riding an 800lb bike even like on lower speeds? I'm still struggling to not drop my bike during very tight turns and even though it caught it every time, despite being fit it feels like trying to stop a boulder from rolling away.
Feels like with twice that weight, once you lose balance it's fucking over?
>>
>>28684278
Sadly not.
Before making the decision between the Honda and the Suzuki, I even called Honda Yurope about the center stand because I didn't find any options online.
They explained to me that at least the Hornet CB1000 can't fit a center stand and can't be adapted to fit one because the frame doesn't have a mount for one in the first place. There simply is nowhere on the frame to attach it to.

The stand is fine. I have a Honda with the same kickstand and weight.
The weight is another reason people don't recommend 1000s to newbies.
See, with experience on smaller bikes that inspire confidence you wouldn't have these kinds of questions. Too many people think just hp and speed are the reasons to start smaller.

Anyway. Confidence. You need to practice more. Feet stay on the pegs unless you're actually gonna fall over. Dangle leg twinkle toes are for boomers on cruisers and the bike is too heavy to catch when rolling.
When going slow speed, just use the rear brake to moderate speed. Rear brake while driving forwards gives a feeling of confidence. Don't try to moderate the throttle or clutch because that gives you 3 variables to control the bike's speed and that's too much. Just halfway clutch and a little throttle and keep em there control your speed with just rear brake.

Do that and practice. When you're confident, try 'pushing' the bike down. Lean the bike over while you're staying upright. Google 'Motogymkhana' and see what's possible. It's getting cold and wet now so don't push your luck
>>
>>28684319
Is it laid down because it was involved in the crash or because the rider bailed to get out of traffic? I've seen bikes laid down because the rider immediately stopped and jumped onto the sidewalk to avoid the waterfall of idiots behind him that would likely not stop in time for the actual wreck.
>>
>>28684325
As a starting exercise, just try weaving at idle speed.
1st gear, don't touch the clutch, don't touch the throttle let the bike trundle along at idle speed. Try circles and figure 8s. If you feel like you're gonna fall over, just add a tiny bit of throttle and straighten out.
That's a good confidence building exercise

For a while now I’ve been having so many issues with my bike and worrying about not putting wear on certain parts and saving my miles/tires for weekends. I was beginning to feel like maybe I don’t love riding as much as I used to. I felt apathetic and annoyed going 2 weeks just commuting to and from work. All I could think about while riding was what needs to be fixed.
Got sick and went almost a full week without riding.
Just got home from work and oh my god oh my god oh my god I forgot how amazing it feels to ride. The feeling of freedom, that I can go do whatever I want whenever I want. The feeling of being connected to everything around me, being able to fully sense every location I ride by. The feeling of power and agility, the strength and ability to do so much more. The feeling of peace and connection to my machine, the adoration and love of my machine. Every sound, every vibration, every tick, click, and quirk was a warm reminder of what I love
Thank you motorcycles

How long is reasonable for a backstreet repair shop full of bikes and parts to fix something left with them? I don't trust myself to fit tires but I reckon I could have a go and the disconnected speedo and charging myself once I get a stand. Instead she sits there in front of the shop in the rain. They have been there since the 1950s and by the mob of bikers lurking around clearly have a good reputation.
>>
>>28685095
Tires I leave to the shops because they have the weaponry to fling rubber on and off in 20minutes.

Everything else I do myself because after the amount of mistakes I've made over the tiniest things, I couldn't trust anyone else to do the job. C-washers that are designed to cover a little dowel pin in your can sprocket you wouldn't notice unless you read the note in the clymer manual and could cause your engine to obliterate itself if you easily installed the washer the other way around, etc.

If you just want the shop to change your tires, it shouldn't take more than two or so hours if the wheels are on the bike, 20 or so minutes if you took the wheels off the bike and brought all the stuff to them.

Everything else is a cointoss because of parts
>>
>>28685102
I'll go see them today. It also has a minor oil leak from the gearbox but I think that is likely to have been there years, given the previous owner gave me two bottles of gearbox oil.

I wouldn't mind paying for them to sort but if it is going to be weeks to look at it I might as well have a go myself.

I was SO close to buying the new Katana because I fell in love with the design before I had even read anything about the bike. Would've gone for the same price as the honda as well, with ~4000km and 2 years older.
What ultimately put me off was the small tank (12L) and the old fashioned LCD in the dash. Suzuki pricing is out of this world.

Still, it looks so fucking cool that if I had the money and the display was a bit more modern, I'd haven chosen the suzuki.

I’m convinced that small tank is the only reason it didn’t sell
If there was a proper long haul touring variant of it I would put the money down in a heartbeat, in the Japanese market there was even a manufacturer making aftermarket full size gas tanks in Katana styling specifically for the nu-katana
I love Suzuki but for the life of me I don’t understand why they won’t listen to their customers on this one. Who the fuck wants to ride a literbike with a 3 gallon gas tank????

>>
>>28685200
Well they should come with any pair of trousers or jacket worth getting, so hardly a waste of money. And yes the do something. I don't remember exactly what point Fortnine was trying to make but it was something along the lines of they won't stop you dying or having your leg torn off. But what they can do is prevent broken bones.

They’re not for protecting you from a collision they’re there to help offset the damage of the many thumps you’re gonna take when you go down.
It might not help if you hit a guardrail but it’ll definitely help if you start tumbling at 65mph down the road
>>
>>28685208
His point was that the standardization makes it so they stop at what the standards are for development(which isn't even close to true) and therefore they are useless.
Idk what brain damage you need tto get there and still support airbags by the end of the video(they have 1 no clear testing at all period on most brands)
>>
>>28685247
Back one is actually tested on uneven surfaces usually, the others are not. This is why there are multiple types of spine protectors because they go through extensive testing for what the planned use is. Street you want super high density foam or silicone on the strike face for back and not a homogeneous pad, unfortunately japanese brands tend to do homogeneous back protection.

>>

>Watched an old FortNine video about them and they argued that these things are a waste of money, even though they're fairly cheap.
FortNine sells expensive gear at a premium. While it's true that Airbags are superior in terms of impact resistance they're not in terms of cost and abrasion resistance.
Airbags aren't going to save you if you have a Gixxerbrah situation and get thrown into a wall of urban tank steel. Likewise the difference between an accident where these things can help and an airbag can help is miniscule.

In his video, he puts a plate over a bowl of cream cheese and the airbag over the same bowl and beats it with a bat. Now, I don't know about you, but I haven't met a human who is made of cream cheese, and the point of this armor and why it was engineered is to get impact ratings down to where it doesn't break a bone.

On that front, these things are absolutely effective and he's tricked a bunch of people into not even wearing armor at all that could save lengthy hospital stays even for minor drops and slides.

Also good luck finding a good airbag pant that doesn't suck, they don't exist. But tons of armored pants exist.

The biggest difference in those is that in fancier ones the Kevlar is actually woven into the fabric, whereas the cheaper ones have a Kevlar lining. E.g. BMW branded ones are well fitting while the cheap ones from mystery companies might feel uncomfortable with their Kevlar lining being wrinkly badly in place. As for the brands, I think all the name brands are potentially good and the biggest difference comes from how they are put together
