Guys who are out here not riding below fifty are the ones telling you nakeds are good choice
Average low is under fifty eight months of the year here, if I stopped riding under fifty I would only have June July August September
>>
What's everyone's favorite news out of EICMA this year?

Mine is probably the Honda V3. My buddy is excited for the new SV-7GX because his favorite bike was his SV-650, but a touring based model would be more versatile for his life now.

I mogged this dork on a dual sport today. He was doing like 50 in a 55 on the slow piece of shit and I sped by at 125 on my CBR

I don't even wear a helmet. Lol a helmet on a motorcycle looks as dorky as wearing one on a pedal bike to me.
>>
>>28705680
I don't even bother wearing half of my thermals at that temperature. It's downright embarrassing how people will refuse to ride when it's too hot, too cold, too wet, too dark, too windy, too much pollen, too many bugs...
Just get an indoor hobby at that point.
>>
>>28705688
Yeah I don't even wear my winter bike jacket until like 30 degrees. It's 40 - 50 these days and I'm just wearing my T shirt. Makes you feel more alive being cold and it conditions you for freezing temperatures.
>>
>>28705688
Very true Mr. Chancellor
Especially rain, you’d think some of these people are made of sugar
Except for roads covered in snow and 110+ degrees, if I’d drive in it, I’d ride in it, and if I wouldn’t ride in it, I wouldn’t drive in it
>>
It's cheap motorcycle season again.
However, how many motorcycles are too many motorcycles? If I get another, I'm looking at getting a 2008 DR650 for cheap rn, I'm at 5. I'm looking to sell 2 of them, but one is going to a friend (paying me what I paid for it), and I'm not going to sell the other one in the off-season and lose money when I don't need to sell it.
They all get ridden a couple times a month, but only 2 are really commuters (get rode at least twice a week). The other 2 sit and only get rode to keep them running well.

IDK what the favorite is, I'm excited for Honda V3, I like CB1000F, CB1000GT, Himmy 750, F450GS, Norton 650s. The one that I'm most likely to buy if I ever buy new is Norton 650 and F450GS as it will be locally made.

>>
>>28705681
Leading into it I was most excited about the V3R, but now that we know it will have 1200cc performance I'm more excited about the CB1000GT. Not that there's any practical difference between 150hp (Hornet) and 190hp (Super Duke), it just seems like too much for me. I'll wait for reviews, and possibly just end up buying an old Versys 1000 or V-Strom 1050.
>>
>>28705681
I'm looking forward to this thing not necessarily because I intend to own one but because I intend to laugh at CFmoto as KawaKAMI takes a fat hot shit on the Ibex 450's marketshare at a close-enough price point.

Total chinkbike death in our lifetime.

At the moment SV-7GX and the Bullet 650 are my favourite pieces of news.
I'm waiting for Peak motorcycles to do his tour/walk around of the event since he visits the small manufacturers and they tend to have more interesting ideas and products.
Last year there was this Chinese EV company and they had a EV scooter that could do 200kph for a minute.
>>
>>28705772
I can agree with that sentiment, especially because I'm not a really a fan of this segment (smaller displacement ADVs). They're all Chinese or Indian made (Ibex 450, RE Himalayan, KTM 390 ADV, and the newly announced BMW F450GS), are marketed as being able to do stuff they shouldn't be doing (the KLE and it's competitors are advertised as doing stuff their ground clearance, power, and weight all prevent them from actually doing), and they're not actually that much cheaper than tons of mid-size ADVs that are way better and made in better places.
If the KLE 500 is at least a quality version for this demographic, it'll at least kill the rest of the competition.
>>
>>28705497 #
He said he's from yurope and you in response gave him a list of jeet top choice bikes.

?
>>
>>28705772
The problem is KLE will never be cheap although it's an entry-level ADV. I already bet my ass on 9k€ final retail price and I stand for that bet while everyone here copes.
>>
That V3 is lame as fuck, why on earth would someone want a engine that is naturally unbalanced.

Who the fuck even asked for this? Literally no one. I am not looking forward to fixing them let alone tuning them or setting up timing for the turbo on top of the bootleg engine. I bet they'll be dumb enough to bolt that E clutch on it too for extra fuck you.
>just turn it off
Just make it a cable so I don't got extra shit in my gearbox.
>>
>>28705811
>The problem is KLE will never be cheap although it's an entry-level
Why does everyone keep pretending we don't have a price on this thing? I don't know if one has been announced for Europe, It's US MSRP is $6,599. That confirms it's going to be over €7000.
>>
>>28705681
Imagine for getting excited for the same bike but throttle by wire for riding aids like abs and traction control on an easy to ride bike, a worse version of the sv650 basically
>>
>>28705824
>it's going to be over €7000.
*It's NOT going to be over €7000
>>
>>28705826
FACTS. YET THESE FOOLS EAT IT UP AND WILL BUY IT.
>>
>>28705823
Honda is genius and V3 is so advanced you just proved you are midwit. i3 has the advantage of always being in motion but has worst rocking couple vibrations, what Honda does with v3 is split the axis of the rocking couple into another dimensional plane, this reducing OVERALL vibration while improving efficiency thanks to less cylinder friction of lower cylinder count while also increasing volumetric efficiency with positive displacement
>>
>>28705826
More fairing and wider seat are good things. Cruise control is a good thing. The bike has had ABS, I genuinely don't get bitching about ABS on a street bike. If the throttle is mapped like shit stock, then save up a few more shekels and get it remapped.
>>
>>28705830
>Cruise control is a good thing
Complacency kills
>>
>>28705833
Cruise control reduces mental fatigue. It's not radar cruise, it's just a chance to rest your right hand for longer.
>>
>>28705835
That was cruiser control's intent on solving but the product of solving such 'problem' is complacent riding thanks to separation of rider from machine
>>
>>28705835
Additionally, if mental fatigue is such a problem, take a break instead of relying on techbro solution to carry you to your casket
>>
>>28705839
>if mental fatigue is such a problem, take a break
Actual good advice. I only use my cruise control to shake my hand out and get the blood flowing again, then turn it back off. When I'm mentally wrung out I stop somewhere and sit for awhile or if it's late enough in the day start looking for a place to spend the night.
>>
>>28705824
>MSRP
Lmao that's some royal cope my friend. MSRP means shit. It was 9.2k$ for Tenere but bikes were being sold for 12k anyways, now it's 11.6k BEFORE dealership fees and transfer costs.

Your 7k MSRP will swiftly change into 8k after a month or two. And after all fees you pay a final price of at least 9k. For an entry level ADV from kawasaki. Stop coping please.
>>
>>28705824
By the way chink shit with a smaller engine starts at 6.5k€ before all fees.
>>
>>28705839
>>28705843
If I'm doing 350+ miles in a day, a "techbro" solution of a servo motor and a potentiometer is going to have me in a bit better shape for the last 50-100 miles. I normally agree with just finding a place on the fly to camp, but sometimes you have a specific destination and/or deadline and need to put the miles on.
>>
>>28705847
That amount of time and mileage is about the same as riding for a living and I ride for a living doing an average of 8-10h of riding a day without cruise control, 6 days a week (being a courier sucks big time). If you can't do 350+ miles or 8h+ without cramping up then you aren't physically ready for making the trip.
>>
>>28705843
Does anyone use those throttle palm rest things?
>>
>>28705829
>imagine actually believing this
It's just a p-twin with a thumper on the back.

>MSRP means shit
>Posts MSRP
Wat?
You also do know that motorcycle sales are down all across the world, right?
It will swiftly go down in price at dealers, not up, if current trends continue.
>>28705845
That's another MSRP, not a listing at a dealer which you were trying to say were also more.
Also, comparing the Ibex to the US price, it's $800 more than the KLE. Obviously, that means the KLE will cost more in Europe, but it won't be over $1200 more. No other motorcycle, including those from Kawasaki has that much of a price difference between the US and Europe.
>>
>>28705852
>courier
Being a doordash driver isn't the same as pumping out 400 highway at a constant speed a day for a couple days on a trip, dumbass. If you're constantly changing your speed or only doing short stints on the highway, you don't need it, we all know that. The problem is when you're on the same road for hundreds of miles at the same speed. Try holding your wrist in the exact same place, with the same amount of pressure on the throttle for literal hours. You're going to get a cramp eventually, that's just how the human body works. That's why cruise control is nice.
I'll admit, it's unnecessary feature that just adds cost if you're just delivering some pizzas.

Lifter tappets worn to shit again, maybe bad/wrong oil, I dunno.
Ironic how an old Ural doesn't give 2 shits about what oil you use, but a hand crafted italian masterpiece "known for its rugged reliability" shits the bed when you don't use olive oil.

There's also some really retarded engineering choices on the thing, like the oil filter being inside the oilpan.
>>
>>28705988
It's a street legal 125, hardly a race bike. The main problem is parts availability/quality. I bought an aftermarket intake manifold for the bike which makes it impossible to connect the carb to the air box. Mind you that this is despite it having a common engine that's also used in karting. Otherwise it would be even worse.

When I had a quick look it doesn't seem like it's that difficult to source KTM/Husky parts plus they have a bigger aftermarket.

Shopping for a new bike in the spring, and there's so many good bikes now? How the hell do you just pick one?

Any reviewer or reddit post is just like "X has 8 more horsepower than Y, so obviously you go with X" like it even matters at 100hp+. I'm pretty sure the only dealer near me that lets you do test rides is the BMW dealer, and renting in my area isn't really an option either.

1000km over the last 14 days and I still don't regret my decision.
Weather was pretty good today (mostly sunny even) and since I had to do a ~6hr drive which was almost exclusively on the highway, I had the chance to really revv up.
Whenever the road was clear ahead, I switched into sport mode and just cranked the throttle open. Feels good to know that that amount of power and acceleration is there, even though it was hardly enjoyable riding at 190kmh at those temperatures (was too afraid to go higher and there is literally zero wind protection). Better to have it in case you really need to finish and overtake or something similar than to not have it.

So far I don't regret my decision with the hornet.
Still shit at taking photos though.

A long winded answer for "it will not last past 50k miles"

Enjoy your gimmicks, I'll stick to what actually works, I'd rather be interpreted as a midwit talking down on the gimmicks instead of having 1 less clyinder, a complicated balance correcting splitted axis coupler, and dealing with a tiny forced induction system. Do you have any idea how much it's gonna suck to tune this shit? They could've just threw a supercharger on a V4 and call it day but no we got turbos and V3s so TWO experimental systems in 1 fucking thing.

>Less vibration
>Less friction
>forced induction
It will rev fast and efficiently, but that will speed the wear up of the internals substantially. I bet they'll cope with some sort of internal coating to tuff it out a little longer but that motor is not long for the world, even with Hondas superior build quality in mind.

streetbike motors are solved. That said I openly embrace a company acting like it actually enjoys the products that it makes, and knowing Honda no matter how weird it is they will have it work well because it's Honda. The reason why I asked if the oil is dirty is because if your clutch is wrecked, your oil will be full of clutch.
Just start with cheap and simple diagnosis first, and then progress to more complex stuff.
Start by making sure that your clutch cable is adjusted properly, and give it a good lube. Then if that doesn't fix it, change the oil and look for chunky bits. While the oil is out, you could even take the clutch cover off and inspect it if you feel like it.
You can find pirated service manuals for your bike online (I know, because I have one). You're presumably a federal employee, so you should have the time and ability to learn this stuff.
>>

I like how it looks, and I think I'm in the target market. I just don't get why I would buy one over a V-Strom 800, Transalp, or Tracer 7. Unless it was priced more like an NX500, in which case there's probably a decent case for it.
>>
Why the fuck scooter prices are so high? I thought maybe I don't need a motorcycle config so I looked into Honda Forza and X-Adv with proper engine displacement. Man they are more expensive used than proper motorcycles. Is it because normies are scared rinsing bikes but not scared about scooters, basically driving prices up for no reason?
Location wise in europe if it's important.

You're wondering why a premium product has a premium price? You do not need a 750cc, and they're probably too fast for you to even handle as a beginner.
Both of those are technically motorcycles btw, because their engines are mounted in the frame rather than the swingarm.
If you just want an economical way to get around, buy a CB125. If you absolutely must have a maxi-scooter, get an XMAX.

it's been kinda difficult to find a wr250r around here that isn't overpriced or clapped out. i see wr250f's and wr450f's on marketplace, and it's not so hard to convert them to dualsports.
it's more power and a lighter bike, but they're also more racing focused engines. i'm trying to figure out just how much more it would cost in time and parts to own one of these bikes instead of the 250r.

in the owner's manuals, it says oil changes every 1800 miles which is not so bad, or 600 miles for "competition use". but then people online say every 300 miles.

and then there's a top end rebuild. i don't even really know what that means. putting a new piston in? the kits for that look like 200$ or so and you have to do this every 100 hours?

it looks like a "full rebuild" is like $1000 in parts on what would be a $4000 bike. how often do you do this shit? is it every year?

i just wanna ride trails and go fast in the woods and be able to ride home on the streets. at an initial glance it seems like the cost of ownership of a "dirt bike" compared to a dual sport is ridiculous. like you'd be able to buy a whole new bike after just a couple years.
>>
>>28706733
Breh I need 500cc+ otherwise the fucking trucks would overtake me on the autobahn and it's dangerous. Yeah technically I could ride 350cc doing 130kmh with 8000 rpm burning as much fuel as a car and destroying cylinders but it's not normal engine operation for those scooters. And in here there are either 350 or 750.
Now name me a single reason to buy a used scooter for more money than NC750X for example.

After much trial and error, I have found the perfect recipe for chain lube.
>75% bar and chain oil
>25% white lithium grease
You have to mix it up in a cup and it creates this disgusting looking glop that literally looks line cum but it works so well.
>Minimal fling
>Long lasting
>Doesn't attract dirt
>Chain stays clean
It works like bar and chain oil to keep your chain clean and not attract dirt, but the addition of the grease helps it last longer and fling less. Using this mixture, I still don't really have to clean my chain like I do with can spray lubes. Basically just have to wipe it with a rag before applying a new coat.

some people in my area have scooters they ride all over the street. "all over" as in no rules. no pattern, on sidewalks, around traffic, against traffic, through the gutter, etc, etc. total joyride, right? it's annoying because it's mostly at night and they're slippery and unpredictable, but if it's just another species of road roach i can ignore, should i just let it slide?
they aren't yelling or doing anything destructive. they wear helmets, they're scooters have lights, vehicle and foot traffic in my area is sparse at the hours i see them out. idk, ignore them, beat em or join em, i guess.
thoughts, dbt?

70mph (115kmph) average is what I often see on my board computer driving on autobahn without a limit and doing 150+ when possible. Cut your bullshit my friend it's not like people here didn't ride scooters and don't know their capabilities especially 150cc lmao. Picrel Forza 350cc is doing 130 kmph with 8000 rpm in clock and dying during the test. Didn't eat any oil my ass.

A colleague had his Ninja 300 stolen, so he went out and bought a new 800NK.
But then the police found his old bike and returned it to him, so now he has two bikes.
But the crazy thing is that he barely ever rides his 800NK, he prefers riding his Ninja 300.

It got me thinking, if your bike was stolen (or crashed) what would you replace it with? Another identical bike, something similar but better, or something completely different?

I fucking hate them. Blacks don't care about their shit either I've bought a gaming PC from a black guy before i knew better and somehow he had a bunch of scratches and dents on a PC case thats supposed to be sitting still in one spot. White guy and i have the title bill of sale immediately after purchase and its safe to meet at his or my house because we know we wont rip each other off. Often we get to have a good chat too.

>Honda V3.
I'm not stupuid and I know it will be shit to maintain and own. No reason to buy it over a CP3. Maybe it will be common enough in 10 years or so. Or maybe it will be dead in 2 years if Honda isn't planning to actually create more bikes with the same engine.

>SV-7GX
Now this is cool, it gives me hope for an RGV-looking racing SV. Although knowing Suzuki it will be the same bike with full plastic at best.
For example CP2 bikes are all different, meanwhile Suzuki basically made one bike 3 times with their 8-series. This is lame
>>
>>28707633
Anon, you're preaching to the choir. If Kawa was serious about it's offroad chops, that have real aluminum handguards, a much thicker bash plate, and engine guards to protect that rally fairing on the SE.

>>28707636
I would also add, China did make something close to an honest-to-God rally bike with the Kove 450 Rally and nobody fucking liked it because acceleration was snatchy as fuck, the suspension was racing stiff, and the bike was not comfortable at all for more than 30 minutes.

Just use anhydrous lanolin or fractionated coconut oil mixed with beeswax.
If you want any of those to run thinner you can mix with mineral spirits, or limonene.
They are consistent winners in ASTM corrosion resistance tests, non toxic, smell good (if you like the smell of wool anyway)

like the 300 anon saw, you should look at how many hours are on it and what the service intervals are for it. you may have to do a topend right when you get it, if they haven't already done one. some years of ktms are prone to frame cracks, so check as well as you can for those and rust, but it's hard to check everywhere ngl
look at who is selling you the bike, they're very high maintenance machines and does your seller seem like a warzone playing mexican (no offense) who doesn't take care of his stuff or a mechanical autist who babied it?
>>
>>28705844

All Chinese bikes other than Lifans are not worth getting. CFMOTO is barely even cheaper than the big brands. Lifans are under 2 grand and the engines are super reliable
>>
>>28707830
yup if your gonna be buying chinese knockoffs you better be paying knockoff prices no matter the quality.
>>
>>28707819
is 10K even good for a tenere? I know their msrp is 12K but it seems to be a trick to underprice the bike to get their price as close to MSRP OTD as possible.

If my XMAX 300 was stolen I'd replace it with a smaller NMAX 155.

The smaller capacity NMAX is more suited to city riding and that's where I do most of my riding. The XMAX is great for the highway but it's heavy for the city and has the turning circle of container ship.

No. Triumph may be making money off brand cache and hipsters, but when it was resurrected it did nice modern bikes and that side of the company still exists. Yes they don't have a litre sports bike and that sucks, but let's say you're on the market and you want a mid displacement naked bike. I'm the boring practicality guy so I'd pick some of the Japanese big 4 brands and fuck off, but if I bought Trident by accident I probably wouldn't regret it. It's a competent bike in this category that stands out from the competition by not being a parallel twin engine bike.
Likewise you wouldn't think of Tigers as a massive downgrade from industry standard and we can go on to other non-retro models because it's almost all like that.

Norton and BSA are just mueeh retro bike for a very specific kinds if boomers(hipsters are alright with either triumph retros or RE). Find me 5 reasons to buy a "BSA" made in jeetland for daily riding. You're not even going to look unique in these people will think it's one of the mentioned pair. The only reason you'd ever want one is because you expect there to be not many of them and therefore you want to stock one for eventual sale to a museum or something.
