Why the fuck does anyone prefer driving SUVs over saloons? The comfiest way to drive is sitting nice and low with the long bonnet stretching out in front of you.
>hurr le stiff ride
A jag saloon rides better than 99% of cuckUVs
>>
I used to have an XE, it was a very comfy ride. Also I refuse to have an suv. A full on 4x4 is fine like a landcruiser or old defender etc etc. They were built for purpose, suv/crossovers are an abomination.

>I used to have an XE, it was a very comfy ride
I love mine, it's the only car I've had where the driving mode is more than a gimmick. Normal is extremely comfy and relaxing, but in dynamic it handles like a focus RS. The supercharged v6 is absolute kino as well, instant response but still rips all the way to redline. Much more interesting than the german turbo 6 cylinders.
>>
>>28761053
I liked mine but didn't love it. But It was the 2 litre diesel. It was British Racing Green, however I replaced it with an F-type which I much preferred, that thing just wanted to go faster, if you were doing 20 or 120. It just egged you on.
>>
>>28761062
To be fair if it's a V6 F Type it's the same drivetrain as the XE S
>>
>>28761018
Women and manlets like being high up

Who the fuck prefers to drive saloons over coupes?
Stop buying a grandma family car
>>
>>28761305
Real men own both
>>
>>28761018
For some unexplainable reason normies have decided that sitting higher up is a big selling point. They can fit bigger cargo and have more ground clearance for if you drive on poorly maintained unpaved roads, but most owners make use of these a few times ever. In exchange, you pay more, have worse fuel economy, have a worse riding and worse handling vehicle. Most SUVs are also hideous, but not everyone agrees.
>>
>>28761410
sitting up high in a big truck is pretty nice.
>>
>>28761072
Aye, same drive train, few tweaks and extras on the F-type. Really loved the car. However, i'm back to a big ol' saloon again.
>>28761305
Because mine has a 6L V12, and while I love the coupé I would like for people with legs to get in the back and carry more things when I go away.
>>28761410
A lot of crossovers and SUV's have less space in terms of interior and/or cargo. Not all, obviously depending. But people point at the space/cargo as their reason and pretty much most times crossovers/suv's are defeated by an estate in that department. Which what it boils down to is, they like to sit up high. Like a child in a high chair at the dining table.
>>
>>28761464
>6L V12
Aston Rapide? Extremely based if so. Had any trouble with it?

I had some very minor repairs essentially some bolts, heat shield needed to be fixed down again. Only real minor issue is the driverside window/rear passenger window has dropped very slightly. So I may need to get it redone plus seal replaced. Apart from battery quirks when low, it's been good as gold.
>>
>>28761429
If you're a manlet I bet this feels empowering.
For a normally developed man its not.

this isn't even a positive point. why would you want to sit higher up? i had to drive fiat van for toil and hated sitting up high in that thing, just feeling like i will tip over if i turn at higher speed than walking pace
every car i have seat is as low as possible and the bottom slanted back so my knees are tucked neatly under the wheel. very comfy driving position. just baffling

I had to drive an SUV for work and every time I got back into my own car (a sedan), it felt like getting into an F1. It always felt like I was sitting only a few inches above the road and there was no body roll at all, the contrast is insane if you go straight from one to the other and you really appreciate non-SUVs when you try it.
>>
>>28761525
I'm the same as you, apart from my daily shitbox which is a hatchback. All my cars have been pretty low seating positions. I've driven high up seated cars etc, and I always hate it. I don't think it's a positive at all but people out there seem to weirdly like it.
>>28761526
Cheers mate. That's a lovely toast rack you have there as well, I bet that M3 has an excellent 0 - toasted time.

>>28761562
Pre-2014 all Jags had aluminium timing chains and tensioners. Bare that in mind.
>>
>>28761562
My XE S is prefacelift but still has the later screen, so it has android auto and a few other bits and bobs
I'd imagine you can get a prefacelift XF S with the later screen as well, definitely worthwhile shopping around so you can get a 6 cylinder.

It's maybe a bit of an illusion when I'm driving it, I'm 6'3 so my driving position is pretty much where the B pillar is. It make the front of the car feel quite far away.
Also those are 20 inch wheels, so there's a lot of wheel arch there

It's actually not but I do prefer sedans over suv's.

Normies think visibility means saftey, even when you are inheritly unsafe to get more visible
>>
>>28764182
what do you mean? you're saying bigger cars are inherently less safe for the rider?
>>
>>28761116
>>28761410
This. The higher up gives normgroids a sense of superiority. One of the only few times in their cattle life where they feel above, in every sense of the word.

They like sitting high up so they can see further ahead in traffic. Or, to not be blinded by fkin bright lights.
I have always wanted to mount a forward facing camera on the tip of the passenger side mirror so I can look around traffic for passing reasons.
>>
>>28764191
i'm far from a normalfag, but i feel safer when i can see farther ahead of me and it seems less likely i'll get crushed by bigger cars

do you guys actually have a case? since when is a small 2 door race car safer than an SUV? elaborate
>>
As someone who’s 6’3” I just find sitting down into a sedan annoying and prefer getting in and out of an SUV.

Getting blinded by headlights isn't as bad if you're in a higher vehicle.
>>
I miss my Passat sedan like hell. But had to sell it as it was old and starting to get that ol' Volkswagen rust. My current cuckover is very convenient vehicle and sure to hold its value well over time but the driving is so floaty. Like I'm driving on a soap bar. I've been thinking of maybe snagging a cheap Model 3 as a secondary car.
>>
>>28761018
you ever peer into a normalshit's car? they drive around with 3/4 of their belongings crammed into their vehicle. bigger car = more SHIT that can be pointlessly hauled around.
>>
>>28764244
that salmon looks grossly overcooked
>>
>>28761018
They don't. SUVs are bought by vapid people who don't give a shit how comfortable their car is and just want some hunk of junk to get them from A to B. If they weren't being socially engineered into buying them by dealershits then we would see a lot more diversity on the road.
>>
>>28761018
>Why the fuck does anyone prefer driving SUVs over saloons?
Either:
>Old or fat people who can't comfortably get in or out of a sedan properly
or:
>Genuinely hylic-ass motherfuckers who just HAVE to drive a fucking tank that's taller than they are and just HAVE to be safe in a collision, nevermind the massive blind spots or the fact that the higher centre of gravity makes it more likely to roll over.
>>
Only reason why SUVs are popular is because largest group buying new cars is old people. There won't be much choice in the second hand market if the cars that aren't designed for geriatric population don't sell in the first place.
>>
>>28761018
It's comfy during the daytime, but absolute dogshit for driving at night since you will be blinded by every single vehicle on the road.

How different are the engines from the ford variants?
The 2.0 diesel seems to only suffer from chain issues which the original ford TDCi never had.
>>
>>28769275
If you go back before 2004 they had plastic timing chains and tensioners.

There's a beauty 2.2d XF for sale near me. £4.4k.
2014, so it has the reliable engine.
Why shouldn't I buy this? I drive a Rav4 atm. It's fine, but like anything Toyota, very very bland.

Every single time you turn the engine on you will regret it. It’s a 4 cylinder diesel. It’s a great looking car, it handles excellently and it’s a better car than the German equivalents of the time. Don’t ruin it by putting a fucking money saver engine in it

Life is too short. Unless you are doing mega miles out of your own pocket why would you ever consider a diesel?
