Well that probably explains why the valve clearances tripled in 100km, fucking germoid "steel", most definitely it's the cheapest pig iron chinesium they could grab and spray painted black.
I just hope the cam isn't ruined, it looked okay and I'd send it hard in an Ural, but this isn't a good bike like an Ural where such trivial matters like a worn cam mean jack shit.
>>
>>28792175

Yeah the lifter spins, but you could take shots out of that dome.
Actually there's an idea.

I'm still blaming the oil I've used which was Scania LDF4 which is a "low ash" oil, meaning no ZDDP.
Now I went with redline 20W-60 was it or something like that, "Harley Davidson" oil specifically for older harleys and mechanical lifters.
Here's hoping the lifter munching stops.

I also HATE these lifter shaft "logs" in the gucci.
In my Ural the lifters are held by the head studs and nuts.
These shafts are an absolute bitch to align and you can probably guess how fed up I am with dropping the 6mm bolt into the engine.
The Ural lifter mechanism is its separate component, it's simple and elegant, easy to take apart and put back in, don't even need to take it apart to retorque the head studs.
Here you have to take the whole rocker "tray" out to retorque the head, see how two of the 10mm nuts are underneath the rocker shafts, then you need to adjust the lifters again because you had them off.
It's shit like this why I don't like this bike.

Italians are right that a good bike or car is like a woman, it looks gorgeous, moans like no other, but is an absolute bitch to live with.

Work today stopped on a hex head bolt doing what it does best, the key slipping and rounding the recess.
Not sure why they used this style of bolt instead of a regular head you can undo with a spanner or a socket.
And of course it's a slightly special type of bolt and not a regular off the shelf part due to the way the alternator is mated to the crankshaft end cone.
If memory serves, the factory original rotor puller bolt was something ridiculous like 30 bucks or so, albeit aftermarket ones are 10 bucks.
It's just a regular bolt with no thread for the first 2 inches or so.
I hate this specialist tool bullshit even if these aren't THAT special yet.
>>
>>28792457
The threads do look a bit wider than the unthreaded shank. Kinda odd. What brand?
>>
>>28792472
Yeah, that's because the alternator anchor fits on to the crankshaft with a taper and the crankshaft itself has threads in it, the bolt is used just to pull the armature into the crankshaft snugly. Of course my Guzzi happened to have the kinda uncommon Sparisa alternator instead of the more commonly found Bosch one, so finding anything for it is kinda expensive.
The armature also has threads for pulling it off the crankshaft, but if you use a full thread bolt then the armature obviously won't be pulled onto the crankshaft properly.
>>

900cc is closer to a quart than a liter, so any bike under 1000cc is a quart bike, not a liter bike. We need to raise the liter bike threshold to above 1000cc anyway to filter out all the learners.

Same, especially with "classic" bikes.
Little brother came to visit on Christmas, suggested him we'd make a trip to the big city through the "old town" center, he could take any bike that he could get running.
After some pointers, got the Izh running and took that one, gave up trying to kick start the Ural.
Trip went fairly well, only had to pull over twice as the clutch cable jumped out of place and the throttle handle fell apart on the Izh.
I told him to be careful with it and not twist it too far forwards when coming off the gas because it's with a slider and if you twist it too much, the cam will hop off the slider and be misaligned.

Nah you're not an ass for wanting a moment to yourself.

Should you never hang with friends just to ride?
No. That's not good for you long-term.
Theres a balance to it. You can enjoy solitude without being isolated but TOO much of that behaviod will result in you unintentionally cutting your friends off.

Hey you fat fuck Harley riders, there's a 6XL Helite Turtle airbag vest up for bids on shop Goodwill. It's currently at $41 with free shipping.
That's $500 worth of airbag vest right there.
I've noticed since Ozempic became available there's a lot of fat boy suits and motorcycle gear showing up at thrift stores. Good for the previous owners I suppose.
>>
>>28796977
sadly they will still look like they are wearing this vest. is it possible to take the sides way in on one of these things
>>
>>28797007
It's an airbag vest, probably a better idea to buy the correct size rather than trying to fuck with this one.
I figured there was still plenty of Harley guys on here who could fit a 6xl and benefit from a 90% savings on a vest.

>They better be real gallons not weak sauce american minigallons
This is factually wrong. America uses the wine gallon, the real English gallon and also used im Europe before Napoleon imposed French revolutionary measures. The gallon used in England was invented in the 1820s as a response to the metric system.

All gallons are imperial gallons. The empire refered to is the Roman empire not the British empire. The wine gallon used in America is the more authentic in that it is a traditional measure defined in antiquity unlike the 1820s gallon.

If it's a CV carb, only if you are trying to do fuel cooling at high-rpm open-throttle. Which doesn't really work with four-strokes, so, probably never.
If it's a slide-valve with the throttle cable connected to the slide, you usually only need to shim the needle up or down or change the c-clip position. But if it's a two-stroke, going to a needle with a steeper second taper (the one at the end of the needle) will let it run richer at full throttle and still get good fuel economy. HOWEVER a power jet is usually a better choice for that application.

Yah. Some thought was clearly put into the carburetion already. If you modified the ports or put on a radical expansion chamber or something of that nature I would consider upgrading to and adjustable power jet. You already have the plumbing so the upgrade would be easy. But don't do it unless you have some legit complaint about the mixture as it is.

The thing I like about the modern scooter community is they aren't assholes like the Harley Boomers.
They're also a lot more creative in the things they do with their bikes. Actual engineering goes on, where the HD and liter bike communities are all about using that HELOC to pay for mods based on the distinctiveness... Dunno if you guys were here for the Ducati guy who spend $3K on a pipe so his bike wouldn't look like the other Ducati's at the malt shop?

What? Harley riders are not the only other type of riders. You're framing that as if there's only Harley riders and scooter riders and you have to be one or the other.

Also people who tune scooters are just like people who drive a "sports car" that's just the sport trim of an economy car. Poor, gay, extremely myopic, usually all of the above. I don't care if there's "interesting engineering" going on, the barrier to entry for actual fucking motorcycles is so god damn low that if you choose a scooter instead, you've already said more than enough about your character and I don't want to talk to you.

Picrel I guess, tried the Harley thing last year, not for me.

The best-selling vehicle of all time is the Toyota Corolla, with over 50 million units sold globally since its introduction in 1966, renowned for its reliability and affordability as a dependable "people's car". While the Corolla dominates overall, if considering just single-body style cars, the Volkswagen Beetle held the record for a long time, and the Ford F-Series is a top seller in North America, and the Honda Super Cub (a moped) has sold even more units across all motor vehicles.
Top Global Vehicle (All Categories)
Toyota Corolla: Over 50 million sold; a consistent, no-frills reliable choice for decades.
Other Notable Top Sellers
Ford F-Series: North America's best-selling truck, a consistent favorite.
Volkswagen Golf: A leading German contender, known for quality and appeal.
Ford Fiesta: The UK's best-selling car, praised for being compact and affordable.
