No.... Honestly a shitty bike. So underpowered, its basically a lawnmower.
Same goes for the other one.
Get a CBR600 if you want a honda, its a much better bike, and is the minimum performance you will need.

I've had a CB500X for the past 3 years, they're brilliant bikes. I'm sure the F is good too, but I like having a windscreen, crash protection, and luggage.
I also think the seat might be slightly higher? At 183cm my bike feels pretty good ergonomically or maybe a tiiiny bit small now that I've gotten used to it, so I wouldn't want it to be any smaller.
I've put 24,000km on mine, commuting for about two hours a day, 3 days a week. I honestly don't think any bike could be better for that purpose, except for the slight downside of the bars getting in the way sometimes when you lane filter.

A few pro tips:
>You need a windscreen extender. The stock one is too short and causes buffering.
>They're so thin that a pair of barkbusters will completely protect them from falls on flat ground
>Some of the accessories are either/or. Like you can fit a bash plate OR a centre stand. And a luggage rack will remove the passenger grab rails.

Buying used with a 5-6k budget? As a student? Idk, priorities would be a dual snort like a drz400 clapped out with every spicy mod and supermoto if youre an urbanite hoonigan
Also communiting on an i4 supersport is going to bankrupt his ass with gas and insurances probs
At least the piss twins are economical for gas and insurance, single might be little more maintenance
>>
>>28806089
The CB500X is so economical it's unreal. I usually get 3.3 L/100km, but this last tank I've gotten 3.1. If I'm out cruising with my friends it'll go well below 3.
I seriously can't believe people will spend $10/day on a train ticket when I'm spending $3.50 on petrol AND getting there 45+ minutes faster.

In terms of the best of what buddy is asking for, if he has the confidence, a vfr800 is a similar and better option
I knew a guy who started on one, only other bike when not in full shoom mode that got good gains like the cb500x
When i traded for tje cbr600f4i my wallet was raped instantly, it sucked
The crf450rl is prettt good, when not broken, little less than the cb500x from my experience but that might be because i bogg it the fuck down with weight when i tour and im a 200~ lbs plus gear rider

I feel like my zx14r is suprizingly efficient when not in the ShoomZone, and like the vfr800, the cluster gauge informs you of fueleconomy via revrange
Suprizingly in 6th you can still cruise at like 170-200kph(?) And be fuel efficent ECO mode
Maybe it topped that at 220? Idk bros cant remember but it was ridiculous
The vfr800 i think could only sustain 150-170 like that, and maxxed out for me at 232kmh
>>
I wore some real gear (moto body protector and actual riding boots) for the first time in a while, and holy cow, I need to get used to it. Usually, I'm just in work boots, knee guards, and a hoodie. Also, I weighed in two pounds lighter than when I left.
It did make me feel more invincible, however, and I'm getting a little more comfortable in the dirt.
>>
>>28806110
Yeah the VFR is a nice bike. If I crashed my CB500X I'd consider replacing it with a Crossrunner. I'm not spending much time at high speeds, because the limit is 80 km/h for most of my commute and they're ridiculously strict with speeding tickets here. But I have one stretch of road where I know there aren't any cameras and I'll often get up to 130-150, so maybe I would go faster if I had a faster bike.
>>
>>28806117
If you have a need for sneed then buyer beware because its addictive and costly if caught
Where you at anyway?
>>28806114
>had to get used to it
Yeah i tried the tech7s on the vfr800 once and it tipped trting to scooot away from the curb lmao
Oddly enough, theyre great on the zx14r footpegs because theyre made of the squishiest rubber, i barely notice them, i actually prefer them now

Australia. Speeding fines are hundreds of dollars, and they're all unmarked camera cars. The only upside is that they all face backwards, and our bikes don't have front license plates. I got caught once at 53 km/h in a 40 zone (a fucking F1 track, no less) and the fine was something like $350.

>>28806120
Scooters are cool. I prefer my bike though, because 125s aren't comfy at high speeds and maxi scoots are too fat for filtering. Also you can't bang through the gears with clutchless shifting at wide open throttle if you only have a CVT.
>>
>>28806120
>>28806061
Quit trolling the noobs you fucking retard.

>>28806060
I recommend sitting on both of them and seeing what fits you better since there's a bit of a seat height difference. For road trips, the X will likely be better since it's set up more as a tourer/"""adventure""" bike. Performance in terms of power and power delivery should be roughly the same, but the F will turn in a bit faster because of the smaller front wheel.
And don't listen to the other guy about power. 47hp is more than enough to comfortably get you where you want to go and enough to break the law if you so want/need.
>>
>>28806129
Its okay shoomshoom, we can tell you are not the schizo as you are not seething as your life falls apart
>>
>>28806047

>>
>>28806131
>trolling the noobs
Nta but he isnt right he isnt wrong, aptitude and rider control always a variable nobody can really predict until its hands on time
Like i dumped my cb500x the moment i turned it on because stoxk tires were 0 traction on anything but perdext roads and i had a gravel spinout immediately when testing opening the clutch to throttle
15mins in the side streets of 30kph residentials in 1st and 2nd with one stall and i was Shoomin without a license the whole month later lmao

One thing to note with the cb500x is that the torque was suprizing big for what i expected to be a learner bike
Later when i traded foe the cbr600f4i i had opportunity to testride a tw200 at the guys garage- that being the original bike i was out too get before impulse buying the cb500x
It was a gutless engine i wouldve gotten bored with very quickly but anybody can learn to ride comfortably on that thing before stepping up, and its a forevertractorbike

NTA but I've always had the stance that people shouldn't care about the power of their desired bike, they should instead care about the ergonomics so they can fit it 100% and have the discipline/self control to not twist the throttle like a monkey with a screwdriver.

All (non tech nanny ridden) motorcycles give out what you put in, there's no true right way to ride a motorcycle but there IS objectively wrong ways to ride a motorcycle so just don't do the retard inputs such as stabbing brakes and it's nbd

On my dual sport, I want good economy because the fuel tank is small and I don't want to carry lots of extra fuel when I'm on a multi-day ride.
On my sport bike I want to get decent range so I can get out to the remote twisties and not run out of fuel.
When I'm on track I only need enough fuel to finish a session, but the more efficient the bike the less fuel I need to carry and the less weight.
Fuel economy is very important

From what I heard, Royal Enfield sent like a years' worth of bikes when tariffs were announced but before they went into effect. Mine's a 2026 model and I didn't pay any tariffs on it.

I have to ask: is this the "normal" /dbt/ again?
Where, as long as it's a fucking motorcycle, I can talk about it, no matter the type, brand, displacement, color or whatever else?

Asking because I've not frequented bike threads on /o/ for at least 3 weeks since the fucking schizo wars broke out and retarded namefags, anime faggots and underfucked incels had to inject their various mental illnesses here.
I just want to talk aboot and post bikes.

Im insuring street bike.

It asks for years of riding experience.
I grew up riding dirt bikes and quads, no accidents on record nor was insurance required then. Do I use this to up the years or do I exclusively use the date of acquiring street endorsement? I don't want to pay rape rates nor do I want to commit insurance fraud. What do

If it's got two wheels and an engine (or motor) I'm talking about it.
I currently have two bikes and I'm wondering where I got for my third. I love my bikes, but after riding a newer 600 I realise how nice new bikes are.
I'm thinking of retiring the Fireblade to track only and getting a big naked for daily riding.
I love the GSXS1000, but I'm not sure if I want another 4 cylinder.
I think the new Street Fighter V2 is really cool but Ducati's are expensive and I like Japanese dependability.
I'll work it out one-day.
The best think that could happen is if someone crashes into my Fireblade and it gets an economic write off. Then I pocket insurance money and buy it back and throw track fairing on it.
>>
>>28806524
Generally they want to know how many years you've been riding on the street since when you're riding dirt you're not interacting with traffic or public roads for the most part.. Just go with whenever you started the process to either take rider training or get your license. They tend to like if you've taken a safety course, too, so I'd look into that if you haven't already, even if it's a course for more experienced riders.

A retro bike would be a nice gap, maybe something like one of the Triumph Bonneville variants or, if you don't mind jeetbikes, one of the Royal Enfield 650s made in the past 5 years or so.
There's also the Green Goblin mask of the Cruiserpill waiting for you to acknowledge it sooner or later.
>>
>>28806530
Yeah I got all my papers and shit it's just a lower number of years of experience. Permit, msf, dirt. It's just annoying that I'm gonna get dinged for being a good boy just to have a stupid gold star to not lose my licence
>>
>>28806538
People far more retarded than you get motorcycle insurance, anon. Not having any claims and a clean record will do you wonders, especially if you're on a sport bike.
You can try calling and setting up insurance to let them know you've been riding dirt for a while, just don't expect it to do much for you and be pleasantly surprised if it does.
>>
>>28806528
>I love the GSXS1000, but I'm not sure if I want another 4 cylinder.
if you decide for another 4cyl, whats preventing you from buying the hornet 1000 then?
less expensive, even the SP variant with 158 horses, assuming you're not in the US.
>>
>>28806449
As the other anon said RE is well stocked. Additionally their admin and distribution staff in Milwaukee might get retooled to do final assembly.

My statement was in regards to the general new motorcycle market in the short term.
>>
>>28806545
It used to not be required, the fact it was changed is what erks me. I have 0 claims, squeaky clean record, and a car under their company as well. It's just shit that I gotta go from 0 dollars to whatever they make me pay.

I like Suzuki's more in general, and I think the GSXS is more attractive.
We only get the Hornet SP in Australia and it would cost me at least $18k (used).
The GSXS has been around for a lot longer and you can find better deals. For example picrel, and there's a 2023 with 2,000km for $15k.

I watched Lamb Chops to a side by side comparison of the GSXS and the Hornet and from what I remember they were pretty close to each other in all aspects. Close enough that I wouldn't want to spend more on the Honda.

Marvelous. Still thinking about grabbing another yellow Triumph, loved the RS, it handled almost like a 125cc.

Why is Honda the only Japanese brand that still has mid-sized inline 4 naked/standard with the cb650r/cbr650r? Gsx-s750 has been made extinct but still has inflated value on the used market. I understand pollution and noise rules fucks inline 4s. But I don't want to be like all the other folks with their metrosexual parallel twins. My only options for experiencing an I4 is to either get a 900cc+ OR getting a sportbike which is too uncomfortable to put my broad on the back of for more than an hour. I want to be comfy AND make a nice noise.
>>
>>28806715
Does it have to be new?
>>
>>28806715
I4s make more sense when the engine gets bigger. They're heavier, more expensive and typically need to rev out a lot to make power.
People want and love i4s, but twins suite the way people ride a lot better.
>>
>>28806715
For now. Pretty sure the CBR600rr hasn't been updated in awhile.

No sir, I am happy to shop used. I would very strongly prefer ABS because I found it reduces insurance cost, and I am a bit of a little bitch. But I might forego it for the right machine. Happy to hear suggestions from the last 2 decades. I just want something with a better backseat than most floating tail sportbikes.

>>28806724
I completely agree with your statement. But, I think an i4 makes as much sense as any full fairing sportbike. A standard is almost always better suited for most riders, but sport bikes continue to be made for the demand driven by interest. I know the chassis type aren't being gimped by regulations, insurance, and manufacturing limits (yet). It just makes me sad that in an industry built around nonsensical wishes MY desired nonsense is being excluded. But you are right, the p-twin is more reasonable for most people.

>I just want something with a better backseat than most floating tail sportbikes.
FZ6/FZ1
I felt the same way, was headed towards a gsxs750 until a friend pointed me in the direction of the fazer. It has been nothing but excellent to me for the past 25,000 miles I’ve put on it. (It also revs to 14k and sounds amazing)
Honorable mention for the VFR if you can stand the massive weight
>>
>>28806745
Holy based, these are based on the R6 engine I assume? Also is that an undertail exhaust? You have opened my eyes. I would love one of these just to have a 14k redline.

Garaged indoors at home? Garaged outside/not temp controlled at work? Metals contract, fluids become viscous, and voltage might not spike as readily in the cold which leads to worse fire.

Test your battery and if your voltage is good next would be spark plugs.

record how it sounds while trying to start it up.
If the bike is struggling to turn over at all, it's the battery/charging system.

Would you be intwrested in trade mail in order for your stock exhaust and sent a slip on SC project can? I pretty sure his is 2005 with tail end tooters
Asking because its too loud for him, theyre louders than even my yoshi zx14r
If not, what should he do to find a stock can? Ebay the sc and order? He needs to sell the sc project and accumulate at least 220 wulongs for a stock order
Just asking you because you might want to buy it, i trust your judgment on this exhaust affair
