Will I die after getting an '01 SV650 if I'm skilled on a TW200 with tight turns, figure 8s, balancing at 2mph in traffic? I thought it would be an easy bike but I just saw this unfunny YouTuber called Regular Car Reviews saying it's super easy to get bucked off in his review and now I'm scared.

When did Suzuki lose the boi racer association? Yamaha and KTM have been that from when I can remember, but Suzuki was also known for this right? When did the perception change?
>>
>>28867239
SV is fine, rcr was probably only saying that because it's a Twin so there's torque. Which if you have a lot of torque and throttle while leaning too much you'll go down.
Just don't wheelie the SV btw, oil pump pickup is in the front so you starve the engine with oil if you bring the front wheel up. Also just be chill on the throttle till you get the hang of it.

No mention of the 636 hoodlums?
>How did suzuki lose their hotboy status
When the 750 became respected and the 1k gsxr became difficult to source.
The minute a squid has to use its brain instead of taking the path of least resistance is the minute they choose another more easy to access bike. They're cheap bastards with double digit IQ so as long as it's 2 wheels, "quick", and can be wheelied. that's all that matters to them not the quality of the machine or any other meaningful info

KYT and Suomy helmets out of stock. HJC apparently has shitty visor mechanisms. I'm looking at LS2s but they are goofy as fuck. WTF is up with visor costs of a fucking LS2? Arai and Shoei schuberth are not available locally. Should I just get LS2?

I have a GS and I want a good helmet. I want speaker pockets for my cardo. Helmet that I can possibly wear without ear plugs.

LS2 explorer is close, but it doesn't have speaker pockets. Looking at LS2 dragon, but it looks goofy AF. Same with Vector II and Thunder GP.

You can (and will) wheelie without hurting anything, just don't do the hella long wheelstands without watching the oil pressure light.
>>
>>28867326
Wrong. The oil pickup is physically in a place that WILL damage your engine.

Quit lying to people, it actually ruins their motorcycle experience.

Also sorry your dick shrunk when a Scootie waved at you but he must have sensed your inner scootergril and low-T status. Now doubt it's your feminine hips and motorcycle.
But seriously tho, if your manhood is so fragile that a scoot waving at you drove you to violence you really need to rethink your gender. Look at you now , you just saw an image of a scooter and you were *triggered* like a femme political progressive. Load that "Hawg" of yours into your F100 (I know you can't afford a Cybertruck) and get your fat ass down to the Low-T center for your weekly shot, maybe sunbathe your taint to irradiate what nads you have left. Hard acceleration is a completely different state that the engine is in versus a wheelie. The engineers factored in acceleration, not wheelies.

I don't need to entertain you with anecdotes of muh ebay engines.
It's the design of that motorcycle engine, nothing you say will change the facts of that specific engine design.

Just take a seat dunning kruger. All you have to do is don't wheelie an SV, it's really just as shrimple as that.

Hard Accel is fine because suzuki engineers tested the bike with those conditions in mind. A small pop up like >>28867402 said will only raise the bike like ~10-15 degrees if that, allowing oil to be collected and flow properly.

The issue is once you go past that and continue to raise the front end, you're forcing all of the oil in the bike to slosh to the rear. Just take a water bottle, partially fill it with it tilted on its side and raise the front like you would a wheelie. You'll observe the water flowing back making the rear heavier and the front lighter. Imagine the oil pickup in the front, if the oil is all in the back then the pump can't collect which in turn FUCKS YOUR ENGINE UP BAD.

Your pickup is in the center of the engine, so while not as safe as a rearward setup you aren't at nearly as much of a risk as a front setup like the SVs engine.

This shit doesn't even matter for 99% of riders, it's only those stunt only types that this shit affects. Just don't hit high degree wheelies and your bike will last twice as long.

Do it, it's a great learner and commuter bike. Easy to wrench on, though wiggling the carbs out of the frame can be a bit annoying.
No ABS so be careful when the road is cold, wet and/or dirty.
Be thorough checking for rust on the frame and subframe. Stay away from butchered cafe racers.
>fuel
Around 4.5l/100km to 5.5, depending on how much of the beans you give it. Worst consumption I had was 7ish when one of the valves went out of clearance spec... after 80k km without checking valve clearance.

Up around SF Bay it's a different story for sure, but SoCal is sweaty af.

If you can’t handle 90-100 degree weather you either don’t live there or should spend less time in climate controlled environments
>areas around San Diego
Unless you’re just talking inland and you live in El Cajon or Santee or some shit and only head out to Campo for riding because yeah that shit sucks. I’ve been lucky enough to live close enough to coastal breezes for the past two years.
But realistically 100ish in the summer is fairly tame and in my experience that was only the peaks of last summer, I was out riding almost every weekend.
You do remind of when I rode through Fresno last September and was getting cooked in the 110 degree heat with just a T shirt because I was lending my riding jacket lol
>>
>>28867604
I liked it's handling on the tight and twisty suburban roads that I was using it on. It might not have set lap records at Phillip Island but I had a lot of fun on it and that's all that really matters (to me).

It was a bit twitchy on the freeway @100 km/h compared to the XMAX but that's not what the PCX was designed for. It's a suburban/city bike, not a highway cruiser like a Harley or superbike.

Overall I rate it's handling 9/10. Would be better with a hydraulic disk on the rear instead of a cable drum, for a better trail-braking experience.

Engines just need spark, fuel, and air. Diagnosis is checking out each of those one at a time.
But if it's revving out to redline and still barely moving, that's weird. Sounds like it might be a transmission problem, maybe your belt is slipping or something.
Also check your brakes, do you get any burnt smells and are your pads completely worn down? Maybe your brakes are locking on or something.

Thanx. The engine seems fine because it starts pretty easily, and the belt isn't slipping, so I think you're right about the transmission. Brakes are fine too.

I have a day off work today so I guess I'll spend the entire day on JewTube learning how to dissect a PCX transmission.

Thanx again.

>and the belt isn't slipping, so I think you're right about the transmission
I mean the belt inside the transmission. Your scoot has a CVT, which uses a belt instead of gears.
But the first thing to do with any mechanical problem is to start simple. Change your oil first, and see if that fixes anything.

>CVT, which uses a belt instead of gears
I have no idea how that works so I just googled and I think that might be it! The belt!

I might be able to figure out how to change the belt but it's really no point because the bike will never be roadworthy again with all of the broken panels. Maybe I can just use it to enhance my wrenching skills before working on the XMAX.

Is there any chance that someone could have put non-motorcycle oil into it? But regardless there's still a chance that old oil could be causing the problem, so just change it.

Exactly my point, you idiot.
You put car oil in it, which has special efficiency compounds that makes bike clutches (and in this case CVT belts) slip.
Did you ever think that the thing you did immediately before the problem started, might have caused it?

if you look at an engine case of a sv 650 the oil level inspection window is a good deal higher than the bolt on the right where this guys fluid level is.
So he did this test with a fluid level below the minimum oil level which makes it pretty meaningless.

If I was going to keep it I'd want to fit a quick shifter and upgrade the brakes, but who knows if the engine will keep going. I know the cam shafts are worn out and need replacing, but I don't know what the compression is like.
>>
>>28867931
how do you wear out he camshafts? You running it without oil?
>>
>>28867933
When I did the valve clearance check I measured the lobes and most of them were below the minimum spec.
Don't ask me how that happened. Could just be standard wear, could have been that batch of cams, maybe the previous owner used shitty oil (I've always used Motul 7100 10W40).
I won't pretend to know, I'm not an expert.

I kept using them because I didn't want to spend $1,200 dollarydoos on new ones at the time. Bike still runs fine just down on power a little.

I like riding my bike, so I ride it. I don't need a destination, just gas. But I do have a collection of taco joints and pubs that are each a decent ride from home, so sometimes I'll just pick one and ride out for supper. Other times I'll just ride until I feel like I'm done, then go home. And every time I can take the bike instead of my truck I will, even if it's just a quick trip to my folks house, but definitely for school and work.

>leaking
maybe you still got a leak, can also try a diff master cylinder with bigger piston
>>
>>28867993
It's not öeaking, I got steel braided hoses because that's all they had on the shelf at the moment, maguros just are bad.
You can't even bleed them normally, the proper way to bleed them is to ziptie the lever overnight and let it gravity bleed.
I've tried one with brembo master cylinders and the difference is night and day, but going from maguro to brembo isn't a 5 minute job becauae the maguros are integrated to the throttle housing along with ignition electronics/switches.
Have to rewire that mess, new throttle assembly, maybe redo the cables and then stick the brembo reservoir in there.

Meanwhile the Ural "truck brakes" just work and work really damn well.
>>
>>28867998
Never tried maguros but brembos are good yeah and grimecas very good too, very sharp. The worst I've tried were sumitomos but someone fucked with the routing and I have to redo it and reacess my opinion. But overall much better than a drum, especially on old bikes where the hub coating is busted

I wouldn't get a cfmoto only because they're barely priced differently than name brands so when you want to sell it there will be no resale value. But I had the chinkiest bike possible, a generic BrozzHawk 250 or some shit off Amazon and I loved that bike before I destroyed the clutch (my fault, I started it in 5th gear repeatedly to see what happens). Had 6000 miles put on it in only 5 months. The only issue is it was only 65mph max speed so I was getting passed by minivans but it was 1500 dollars brand new so cant have too much complaints.

Ninja obviously looks cooler, but safety is my #1 priority. Don't really care about storage, I don't mind having a backpack, but safety and comfort is really important, I don't feel like dying yet. I'm not a heavy rider, I work remotely, but I would definitely use it to avoid parking troubles, and for quick errands around the city. Unlikely to be used for much longer rides, I see myself having a range of 100kms around my home, not planning to cross Europe with it. I've got a decade of car experience, and I've got 3 years of 50cc experience, so I believe I've got brains for road driving. So, what's the better option here? They're around the same price where I'm from, so that's not an issue.

As a seanig who owns the 368G and had a Ninja before: if you don’t care about storage, just grab the Ninja. With a Ninja, you can always flip it with minimal loss if you change your mind later; that isn't the case for Zontes or other Chinese bikes.
for real urban riding like in SEA streets (pic rel) where more than half of people on the road are on bikes or street of paris and not just hopping around in Amerifat suburban blocks to stripmalls where parking spots are 20 feet wide, even the Zontes will have still trouble zipping in and out of six lanes of moving traffics
you cant just park sandwiched between two Fiat 500s in it either (or on the sidewalk)
It’s still pretty good for urban riding, but it doesn't compare to a 50–125cc scooter. Comfort is obviously better than a sportbike because it’s a scooter but its the same as in your old scoot
One issue you have to be careful with on the 368G is that if you are shorter, you need to be cautious at slow speeds. Due to the floorboard and the crash bar, you need a longer inseam to flatfoot, the bike is heavy and tall enough that its kinda dangerous if you have to tip toe when stopping
I rode mine across the provinces few time before and it do fine 0-100 is blasting fast it felt like 600cc bike
but you kinda cap at 120-140km/h without farther mods, you can easily merge into highway but dont think you can overtake anyone in it stock
personally I would wait for the new 552g or just get XADV/T-Max (that way you can still flip it)
these days I ride nothing but small scooter or maxi

Out of those two, I would say the Ninja because you're going to have more control with a manual transmission and a frame-mounted engine, and the chinko scooter probably comes with cheap tyres.

But here's why I think you have a better option - any small or middleweight ADV.
>Sitting with a straight back gives you WAY better visibility, especially behind you
>Higher seats mean that you can see over cars and predict their movements better
>Straight handlebars give you more control
>Bigger wheels handle potholes better
>They have better weather protection (which counts as safety too)

I agree with the other anon that an NC750X or NC700X is perfect for you. They make the same power as a Ninja 400, so don't be afraid of that. Another good option is a CB500X, which is a bit sportier than the NC750X. Or you could get a Versys-X 300, Himalayan, V-Strom 250SX (>lmao 4000km valve clearances), or anything else in that class.
Hondas are arguably the safest because their indicators stay on all the time, which makes it easier to identify you at night. Also LED lights are safer than older ones.

But here's the important part: get something cheap and second hand, and use the rest of your money on:
>Top-tier sport touring tyres
>An airbag vest
>A good helmet (Arai is the safest brand, white is the safest colour)
>AA-rated jacket, pants, boots, gloves
>Professional instruction
>New brake fluid and pads (easy DIY)
If you do genuinely buy a scooter and then ride it in jeans and sneakers because it's "just a quick errand", then you're a hypocrite. Full gear + airbag all the time.

Look you can pretend that it's just as reliable as a Honda, and we can't really prove you wrong.
But it's a clearly observable fact that these things depreciate much more than other bikes, which means the total cost of ownership is much higher. So you need to ask yourself, are those extra features worth the several thousand dollars that you're paying for them?
Now I would also argue that they depreciate for a reason, but if you're willing to gamble on it then go ahead and buy a two year old second hand one for less than half price.

First time posting here so I’m probably out of the loop.

I’m a poorfag who wants to get off the bus ASAP. I have about $1500 to spend on a bike/scooter. Right now I see two (maybe three options) one, Grom clone for $1500 that already has all the basic upgrades done (upgraded carb, emissions delete, I’m guessing sprocket) or 2005 Zuma big bore 70cc that goes 50-55 mph for $1300.

Option 3 is wait a little longer and get a Zuma clone (tank 150 or 200 EFI) for $1500-1800. Are any of these choices recommended at all?

Do they sell the CB125e or CB125F where you live? It's the single cheapest way to get around, they did the maths. And try to factor in the price of some gear. I’ll look into Kymcos. I’ve tried riding a bike here and it’s not safe. People drive too fast and there are no bike lanes. Also, there’s no infrastructure for bicycles so nowhere to lock them up outside stores, etc. it’s actually really inconvenient.

After I bought one I realized I don’t see anyone riding a bike on the road here and realized why. Funnily enough, most of the time I see someone riding a bike it’s some cheap mountain bike and they’re riding it on the sidewalk lol

I have a job you fucking retard. That’s why I need a vehicle. To get to work. I hate to break it to you but not everyone who has a job in America can afford things. Something like 50% of homeless people have jobs. This country is basically a third world country for the bottom like 30% of people.
>toys
It’s about getting to work and not being stuck in the fucking house all the time. Buying a scooter motorcycle would save like 3.5 hours on my commute every day, not “toys”

What do you do for a job where you spend 70% of your income on housing and genuinely can't even afford more than $1500 on a vehicle?
Are you doing something silly like insisting on living alone or in a nice area?
Why can't you get a loan for a vehicle, and use the extra time from commuting to work a second job for a few months to pay it off?
And are bikes ACTUALLY cheaper than cars in America?
