Went and looked at one of these today. KTM is really weird. Most of the bike feels well put together and premium. But then there are random parts that feel cheap like switches and the gas cap. The panted metal and plastic parts are a slightly different shade of orange from one another.

Sitting on It felt really comfortable for a supersport though.

Saw adv bikes starting to take off back around 2015-2016 when I was still riding. Now dealer has a lot of em so I assume they're selling a lot of em. Seen a "used" klr650 with only like 200 miles today though so I guess not everyone who's buying one is liking them.

You can blame influencer hype for that. Everyone liked the thought of going on big advinters around the world. Turns out its not for everyone and people are switching back to more street focused bikes. Now were seeing bikes called "Crossovers" or tall sport tourers that tap into that miss placed ADV expectations market while also taping into the 2000-2015 sportbike guys getting older but don't want to give it up market.

people realized they didn't really need the extra size and off-road capability that those cars offered, and instead wanted something that could do-it-all (on pavement), whether that's taking a road trip, or just commuting

for the record, I ride a Tracer 9 GT, which I bought because my MT-07 sucked for longer rides (years of bad squatting ruined my knees). 90% of my riding is under 100km round trip, but I'd still take the T9GT because it gives me the ability to do that other 10%, and is completely fine at the smaller trips too

Japanese consolidated their model ranges and removed a lot of categories, sometimes half-serving them with parts bin specials like Kawasaki Eliminator. For cruisers the only Japanese bikes that can be recommended imo are the Rebels(500 or 1100), they're kind of different(very squished and "hunchbacked") but really good.

Even more so than ever if you want a bike that breaks the mold you have to step outside of Japan.

Made pic related a few threads back. Its for sport bikes but shows how grim things got after 2008. Japanese, Indian(the country), and Chinese brands are pretty much the only ones getting fresh young riders coming into the hobby with smaller class of bikes like the R3 and R7.

was thinking of a comfy cruiser but didnt want a harley due to the harley tax. everything ive been reading online though it seems harley has started to actually unfuck their shit and have made some stuff that doesnt break down after 500 miles. still considering a metric cruiser and may go for a rebel if im going to buy new. other style bikes arent a dealbreaker though. just got surprised that a honda and yamaha dealer had as much space for atvs as they did bikes when this same dealer had way more bikes ~2010
