Is it better than whatever you’re doing now? Not much reason not to if so. Mechanic doesn’t strike me as having particularly high room for growth for most people, so if it’s worse than your current job, don’t. Seems simple
If you’re unemployed or underemployed just take the job, you can always go back to being under or unemployed

was leaving my dying mothers house thinking about how i wanted to go in debt for a new mid range bike and be on the hook for like 5 years for probably like $250 a month and i can only even probably get the financing approved if she fucking shows up and cosigns with me despite being hardly able to make an intelligible sound which im not even sure is legally possible but i want to try anyway since i dont know much about engines or anything and how and i never bought anything from the internet before but my cars probably gonna die soon but i kinda need it for the time being so i want to stop putting miles on it. so im driving home from her place and i see this absolute manimal chad wearing a wife beater and weaving through traffic on this monsterous frankenstein cruiser, this thing looked like it was made with a welding torch and parts from 20 different cruisers. it was chugging and smelling like the only thing keeping it going was a MPG rate of 5, and each time he shifted he jolted forward like the clutch or whatever was either total garbage or failing. and yet he was swerving between traffic, no sleeves, no fucks given. not even really getting anywhere thanks to the stoplights but still risking his life wildly swerving between the cars, as if only for fun. really makes me think about how much better a deal i could get buying used or something but i dont know shit about fuck when it comes to vehicles. although thats part of why i want a bike, being reliant on cars in the current year bothers me because they're becoming impossible to fix yourself but i get the impression even new bikes are a lot easier
shes probably going to die soon and ill have the money to just fucking buy whatever outright anyway i just want to get riding before that happens or i feel like something bad is going to happen with how my life is going

If you have a brain, go for it.

I went to class for engineering at university today. Everybody has to present, most of them copy-pasted their shit from AI, and some of them even held their phone up like a teleprompter. If those retards can make it to 3rd year engineering then you can fix some scooters.
>>
Sold my V12 BMW and was looking at bikes again, but everything just looks like shit to me.
I was looking for a bike that is reliable and good looking (basically japanese) but they're all ugly as fuck.
How come it's so difficult to find a bike that is both reliable and good looking at the same time? Seems like everything jap is just fast and reliable, everything yank is just good looking, everything euro (german) is just expensive with the notion of being dependable.
It's like that project car triangle with reliable, fast and cheap, but with bikes you're only allowed to pick one out of 3 options, probably because being cheap is pre-picked for you.
>>
>>29038557
yes motorcycles are a lot easier to work on DIY
there are still ways to fuck it up if you're a retard like me

If you think you might do a lot of work on it, pick a naked bike or cruiser with space around the engine. If you get fairings you'll need to pull them off and put them back on every time.
>>
>>29038773
The Enfield Continental has probably the highest looks per dollar of any bike, except maybe Urals. It gets comments in parking lots regularly. Yes, they cheaped out on some parts, and it's a dog of a 650. (same torque at every rpm as an SV 650 ... except the SV redlines 4000 rpm higher)
I've owned mine 1 & 1/2 years, so far no problems that weren't my fault or the guy I bought it from. So, can't promise it's reliable long term, but it is easy to work on. It even comes with a tool-kit and manual, because they needed to make it easy enough for jeets in tiny villages to maintain.
The Enfield 650s are made at their new factory ... I wouldn't trust their smaller engines (maybe the 350s) and would avoid them for being too slow anyway.

The Answer is always GS500.
You seem down on your ability to pick up basic mechanic's work but it's truly not that daunting of a task as long as the vehicle you're working on is at least in workable condition in the first place and not entirely blown out when you get it. Deciphering that much on a second hand sale with no mechanical knowledge is absolutely insane, but I would bite the bullet and get something that looks like it's been at least kept in good enough condition to where the chain isn't rusted to shit and the brakes function and pick it up as you go, if you're going to get into bikes you might as well accept that relying on the grease monkeys at the local stealership is going to be expensive and not exactly enlightening and that all you need to know is a couple clicks and a $20 torque wrench and a service manual pdf away. The GS500 has had something like a 40 year production run, is manageable for begginers, dirt cheap to buy/insure, has a solid aftermarket and OEM secondhand market, low compression, freeway capable, and entirely serviceable by 3rd worlders in favelas and balken backyards. Nobody knows the hour and it wouldn't hurt to have a bang around bike that you own outright to learn on and scrape up,got quoted for $130 for a year old liability like 4 days ago and I've taken my shitheap from rotting in adoublewide's backyard for a decade in the elements to making 1200 mile trips with some tlc and a carb clean. It WILL outlast your mother, and when it does your second shiner bike will be all the nicer to have.

I've been reading Demonbane recently and, after they lost the mech, Dr West built them a motorcycle as a replacement. Called it the Hunting Horror (HH). I use four shots just to make damn sure. Because once again, i’m not there to coddle a buncha criminal scum sucking faggots. I’m there to 1) Survive the fucking round. 2) Guard the armory. So you can absolutely get fucked. If I get unbanned, which I won’t. You can guarantee I will continue to use the shotgun to apprehend criminals. Because it’s quick, clean, and effective as fuck. Why in the seven fucks would I fuck around with the disabler shots which take half a clip just to bring someone down, or with the tazer bolts which are slow as balls, impossible to aim and do about next to jack shit fuck all. The shotgun is the superior law enforcement weapon. Because it stops crime. And it stops crime by reducing the number of criminals roaming the fucking halls.

I see girls on sport bikes and scooters all the time in my city. Those on scooters go to the office in their normal office dress, but those on sport bikes usually wear tight pants and have nice ass.

Why there's no girls on naked bikes, adventure bikes, sport tourers, dirt bikes or cruisers?

Cringe beta male transport.
>>

They like to be bent over.

Also, there's dirt girls out there. They just typically frequent private land routes or deep trails so dudes don't thirst for em.
Crusier broads exist but not as much due to the weight. Sport tourers same thing, too heavy
I don't think any women find Naked bikes cool from an aesthetic standpoint. They just look like bugs which women hate.
Advs are tall as hell on average which women who tend to get into bikes, are not tall enough to put even 1 foot down.

Sport bikes are cool, lighter than the other bikes, fast, and just downright sexy.

Women like beautiful things, because that's what they are. Beautiful.

>he uses sunscreen
its hard to take anything else you said seriously now
im white as fuck and spent 6 months working outdoors in the most bright and reflective environment here and didnt need that shit at all. just a bucket hat to protect my forehead and nose basically
honestly kind of confused why i didnt burn more. i used to burn. i think it might be related to your overall health or something. i did start taking lots of vitamin A at one point
i was also looking at this but was thinking it was maybe more of a worst of both worlds choice
i really dont care about hiding my face under a le cool motorcycle helmet squeezing every inch of my head making me feel like my blood pressure is going to give me an aneurysm and i feel like peoples decision to use them is often biased by the fact that they are self conscious of their face and think full faced helmets look cool

also lighter weight seems like a huge plus and will -even if only subconsciously- encourage the rider to look around more and thus have better awareness of their surroundings which is a major factor in safety possibly much more important. hell not overheating helps with all that too
>>
>>29039672
That's the one exception lol, I also have that.
>>29039675
I've burnt and peeled my ears and lips off a few too many times, so yes, I wear sunscreen to avoid repeating those experiences. White as fuck to the point of being pale and I've been on night shift for years.
That helmet is also going to do very little for you. If a full face is suffocating you, you're trying on one that's a size too small. You only get one set of teeth. I find full faces annoying to put on, but I don't want a TBI and sure as shit want to keep my teeth. You can just click the visor off with a couple pill tabs on most helmets and run sunglasses.
>>
>>29039675
Well you're wrong and don't own a bike so don't know what you're talking about, we own bikes and we're telling you it's a stupid idea and you won't look that cool in it, bro. Get a proper helmet and buy that one later if you must but it's a retarded choice for a first and only helmet.

I'd respect Arai's egg obsession more if they weren't being cheap scumbags and selling helmets that are deliberately less safe in the US market to skim some money. I'd get a Vstrom 650.

You are in denial my little retarded american friend. Every single motorcycle manufacturer including chinks and your local harley davidson comes to EU to try and please them with their mouth in order to obtain the selling license. And only after Europe is pleased you are allowed to ride that motorcycle model. There's like 1.5 dirt bikes that don't, you might stick to that to cope for couple more years. >Are android trackers really that much worse?
They are absolute fucking dogshit. Android does not have a big Find My network like iphones do, every manufacturer has their own "standard" (aka we want retards in our walled garden) and most of them charge subscriptions so it defeats the purpose of having a wide network where any random person walking on the street can ping the airtag.

Just buy a used iphone like I did for like $100, I got an iphone 8 government surplus that was in mint condition I still use as a daily driver. Then stick airtags everywhere.
>>
>>29040054
But for that the Apple network has to be big in that country. I'd honestly buy an active GPS tracker. Kinda cringe that OP post does not include the latest recommendations for that.

>>
Went for a longer ride on ce04 for the first time, ~350km roundtrip.
It was terrible, mostly because I misjudged the time it would take, didn't take my jacket (it was a sunny day, what could go wrong?), and was absolutely freezing on my way back.
The conclusion is:
- electric bikes are superior if your destination is no further away than 70% of the claimed range. By the time you are done with your business it will already be charged
- if you plan to go further away, it will take 3 (if not 4) times longer than on ICE
- if you want an adventure, to go to random cities and explore them on foot while the bike is charging, it is again superior if you like to travel without a plan, and potentially horrendous if you want to plan everything.
I _might_ go back to an ICE bike. But I still can say that this thing is FUN.

>>
>>29040262
Unfortunately there's not really anything like the old blades besides MAYBE a new gsxr 750 but you don't get the torque or the trunk of those baba blades.

You should really consider buying a 929 or 954. The 929 is a little more reliable because of 6 dogs in the gearbox versus 954s 5 and the engine casings are a little thicker amongst some other subtle things like slightly thicker components.
I'm biased to the 929 for those reasons, but if I wanted a track focused weapon I'd go 954 but for real world riding on the open road the 929 has a edge. The best of both worlds would be a 929 transmission mated to a 954 engine.
>tldr, there's not really anything like them. Genuinely consider buying one of those bikes. They're very cheap to maintain and the buy-in isn't astronomical like other classics

The cbr 1000's are NOT like the baba era blades either. They're very good bikes don't get me wrong, but the 1ks do not share the primary principles that tado baba prioritized when creating them. Rather than an open class machine with a purpose to conquer real world roads its much more inline with the "race bike with lights" philosophy. Where the tado baba blades had a wonderful balance of lightweight and creature comforts paired to otherworldly performance (as well as handling) the CBR 1ks were much more purpose built for track riding / uncompromising performance.

Great bikes all around, but you can look up some baba interviews and see how dissatisfied he was with where hrc/honda took the blade. Even if he still liked them.

This is starting to sound close to terrain theory, which is retarded as magic crystals and horoscopes. Vitamin A has nothing to do with sunburn and excess vitamin A is actually correlated with more severe sunburn and skin cancer rates. Odds are you just had constant low level sunburns and you ignored it as normal. Vitamin A also isn't going to do shit to prevent UV light from forming thymine-thymine dimers in your DNA and causing cancer, which sunscreen can actually prevent.

No. Dozens of companies sell helmets that are dual ECE and DOT certified in the US. It's not even very hard and you can get $100-ish helmets that are DOT+22.06. The only companies who make a point of not doing that are Arai and Shoei. Even US only brands, like Comoto's Sedici house brand helmets, have gotten ECE certified as a selling point.

The US bikes are down on power because they are tuned to be quieter. An exhaust swap without a ECU remapping isn't going to do anything but make the bike louder. Case in point is the ZX-4R which cuts fuel at 11k RPM to meet sound regulations.
>>
>>29040440
That's only the case because the epa changed how they conduct noise emissions testing.

You're going to swap the exhaust and get a tune anyway, so this is a nothing burger compared the comical amount of hoops and eurocrap you gotta deal with.

How are you going to put your foot down at the lights?

I have been there brother. Over time I have narrowed down the triggers to specific things. Fresh pork from a boar, bad. Fresh pork from a sow, marinated in vinegar, good. Chugging a big bottle of coke, bad. Still getting the result of that out of my knuckle. Getting drunk to bad hangover level, very bad indeed, super-dangerous. Purposefully under-eating, good.

In terms of the baik the biggest risk is control. Working the gear leaver or brake needs to be done effectively.

I have given myself gout riding 2hrs to work amd 2hrs back. Four hours sat still them eight hours at my desk. No excercise. Day needs braking up with excercise too.
