whats a cool entry level bike for someone who likes things a bit unusual

I have a weird problem with my ER-6, every time I shut the engine off throttle response starts lagging until I give it full throttle, after which it clears out. It happens even if I shut it off for a short time. What might be the problem?

What's the general idea about the naked 600cc bikes from the 2000s? (Hornet, Bandit, R6 etc.)I can find most of them for less than 3k €
>>29041075>R6 Fazer 600 I mean
>>29041075The 2000s were 20 years ago, keeping an antique on the road is a lot of work
>>29041055>monkey 125 looks kinda cool actuallyIf you are a teenager for sure.
>>29041083Even a hornet 2005? I'm mostly looking for a first bike that's used
>>29041098Get one of the reliable models with ABS and fuel injection. That specific motorcycle generation was manufactured starting 2000s to about 2015-2020, when manufacturers started putting tons of electronics. So mechanically your 2008 generation bike will be the same as one from 2019 probably. Look low milage.
>>29041101So I should look for 2008 and newer, got it. Thanks
>>29041102You should look for 2018 and newer, people have no idea how many things go wrong and how quickly on any twenty year old machine It is worth the money I promise you to buy a younger bike
>tfw 125cc honder passed another MOT
>Tiger 800 for sale, $3500aaaAAAAAAAAAA
>>29041104There are no listings around were I live, almost no one sells newer bikes, or they have absurd amounts of mileage. Also I'm not really looking for a 600, I need something smaller instead, but those old machines are the only girls I can afford right now.
>>29041110My opinion, what I did when I was starting out, was a smaller newer bike. These days I would have probably bought an Indian or Chinese bike to start on
>>29041104>>29041110UNLESSIt's a bulletproof bike like a KLR KLRs are the perfect buy-old-keep-forever bike and same with basically any Honda. >>29041110>>29041075Consider a Honda A honda Shadow is likely going to be your best pick
>>29041121What? There's nothing wrong with IndiansOh, you mean the country. Yeah don't do that. You can buy like-new used bikes for what RE is asking for an Interceptor.
>>29041124A smaller newer bike is what I did. I like new things, so these days if I was starting again I’d buy new Chinese or new Indian. But a recent bike with few miles is a good option .
>>29041121>>29041128Yes there's the option to buy 125ccs since lots of kids sell them after getting their A2-A licenses, but I wanted an all rounder mid size bike with enough power and reliability for commuting and the occasional fun riding, and since it's my first bike and I plan to have it a long time, a 125cc might get boring after a while (or so I've heard) .
any cute anons itt?
>>29041135>might get boring after a whileI feel like the dudes that get bored of their bikes are the same ones that desensitize themselves to excessive speed.
>>29041034Are you sure it's throttle response and not dropping a cylinder due to bad coil? Mine used to do that so I traded it for something not shit.
Is there decent youtube channels with motorcycle content. Pls don't recommend cringers like that retard citing bible or another one "mechanic" who does no actual repairs himself but sends parts for other shops to repair.
>>29041146Last time I shared a youtuber on 4chan fags went and fagged up the comments with faggot behavior
>>29041135>>29041137There’s a lot of room in between a 125 and a 600 I agree with this other guy tho, small bikes becomes boring when you desensitize yourself to high speed. You get used to the thrilling acceleration of a super sport pretty quickly, and if your local roads sucks, it can lull you into boredom before you yeet yourself off the twisties the second season. Entertainment is when you chase proper skill progression. Motogymkhana alone can keep you entertained on a small bike for ages
>>29041160At the end of the day I will probably buy the best deal of the day after I get my license, I'm not going to speed a lot (maybe sometimes...) and I'm going to do lots of city riding so the higher torque of a bigger bike sounds tempting both for convenience and security.
>>29041135It depend on kind of 125 are you talking about If you are riding some dirt bikes or any minimoto, or even scooterthey got its own niche that it won't get replace by bigger bikes Compare to getting naked or sport 150ccThen the moment you get anything bigger you won't have any reason to play with smaller one anymore
>>29041146Yammie noob
>>29041184I agree, if I wanted a purely utilitarian vehicle I would buy a scooter, but I want some fun too in the twisties or the street.
>>290411462Vintage is cool. He buys used bikes/ATVs/ etc for cheap and goes through them and gets most of them running with little to no money on parts. He runs into a few that require more intensive repairs....but most are pretty simple fixes. And he is extremely informative l, happily shares his knowledge and shows easy common fixes to problems.I've got a dirt bike to diagnose and I've picked up several idea from him to check
>>29040723I think I put my bench vice too close to the racks
>>29041214That's an easy move. Is that full size container. Looks like a nice workspace
>>29041173>the higher torque… You don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. You don’t know what you don’t know. It sounds like you’re set on a course of action so why bother posting about it
>>29041229What's wrong?
>>29036729Get a KTM if you can, if you can't the KLX300 will more than do well for you, but also consider the CRF300L, That thing will take you places.
>>29041173NTA bigger engines don't determine the torque, it's a factor of its drivetrain delivery. You can have small bikes that deliver way more torque than big bikes, and if you want the most torque, an electric scooter like the CE04 will destroy literally any literbike in this thread on acceleration. A surron will beat most of our bikes in a drag race to 25 MPH, but won't have any of the sportiness or speed that you would actually need to put that torque to good use.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J0TYOvLgSMThat's why you have to make judgements based on the package as a whole. Not just how big a bike's engine is. You need to look at the merits of what you would like around town for sportiness, handling, maybe you want something heavy and planted, there are lots of options.
man, it feels like I'm an absolutely awful rider with no skills whatsoever
>>29041259I'm not sure anyone in here has any skills whatsoever. They don't teach motorcycling riding in school, and I doubt any of us have ever been to an actual racing school/motorcross class. Most of us are shoomers who learned from experience and just happened to not die along the way.
The world would be a better place with more shoomwaifus if we had motorcycling and driving classes in high school.
>>29041258I should've specified I'm getting a naked bike instead of a sport bike, regardless of engine size.
>>29041223The roll up door is in the middle and I'm going to build an office on the other half because we have a kid on the way and my current office will become a nursery. I'm going to build a deck on top of the container eventually
>>29041146Depends on what type of content you're looking for exactly, but I like 44teeth. Most of their content is bike reviews, but over the years they've done a lot of fun stuff worth checking out.
>>29041262I've been to socal supermoto, which is a beginner track day but still racing oriented, and I've raced dirt bikes for 4 years. I do cross country races and enduros not motocross
>>29041262One of these days (tm) I’m going to take the California superbike school two day
>>29041285I won't because I'm a europoor
>>29041209Thanks, started his video about Kawasaki Concourse and it looks interesting.>>29041278>Depends on what type of content I guess any type of content because I had exactly ZERO motorcycle channels to watch. There's plenty cool channels about microelectronics, drones, programming, war in Ukraine, table manufacturing, wood turning, optics whatever. But I had zero in motorcycles, which I think is ridiculous. Thanks for suggesting 44teeth though, I will check it out.
>>29041282Sure, but have you ever been taught by an expert themselves? Many, many learned habits are bad for your overall growth. Worse, if you just go to the track and never find out which ones those are, you could get in the habit of doing that for years and never break it.
>>29041055HECK YEAH BWO
>>29041299Well considering I actually race, yes i know where I stack up in the hierarchy and I could be much faster. I also know I'm faster than everyone in this thread and 95% of riders
>>29040723>Threadly: Rate my new workbenchMirin'
>>29041262>and I doubt any of us have ever been to an actual racing school/motorcross class.Who is "us" in this context? I seriously hope you dont mean "the people posting in this general" because you're a fucking retard if you think that.
>>29041282>>29041327Little bitch, please.
>>29040986I agree completely. I acknowledge being able to lock your helmet is great. But it looks dorky as fuck, you've just made your bike like lame and gay. If a motorcycle doesn't look cool, you may as well just ride a scooter.
Does anyone itt ride 6gen VFR?
>>29041259If you didn't grow up riding dirtbikes, you're skill capped and you're not going to get that good no matter what you do. Just like how everyone in the NHL has been on the ice since they were able to walk. If you don't start as a kid you'll never develop a truly 'high skill' level of balance and control. Doesn't mean you can't have fun riding, though. You can still improve, you're just never going to get "holy shit, look at that guy ride!" good.
>>29040986I don’t like top cases because they make it awkward to throw a leg over the bike. panniers don’t get in the way nearly as much.
>>29041376Horseshit. When I got into Street bikes, I got a bunch of advice from my bike elders and read several books on advanced riding techniques and gradually implemented them into my riding. Key word gradually. Some were for technique, some real world safetyLee parks pic relTwist of the wrist, Keith codeDavid Hough Went on a ride with a buddy who rode for many more years than me. He had a Busa, me in Triumph Daytona 675.I couldn't hang with the busa in a straight line, but when the rode got curvy, my friend on the busa couldn't shake me.His words paraphrased" Every curve thought I had him, and when looking in the mirror that red fucker was right on my ass!"Caveat, low speed corners were difficult because where I live there aren't many. could definitely use some training if I wanted to take my riding further.
How do you explain that Yamaha R1 holds a record lap on Nürburgring among "tourist rides" for the last 10 years?
>>29041376I'm pretty good at woods riding and I got my first dirt bike at 30. I rode downhill mountain bikes as a kid so I guess I'm used to technical terrain
>>29041390Gaytona 675 AHAHAHAHAH
>>29041403Doesn't matter. Bikes have hit the cap of how fast the laws of physics will let them move. Cars are still getting faster. Bikes have been basically the same for 20 years, but even an econobox now is as fast as a sportscar was 20 years ago.

>>29041428ThanksHough was really great practical, everyday safety. Watching for hidden driveways, road hazards , on an on. I credit with reading his stuff with saving my bacon on more that one occasion.Dor advanced riding, you just have to have a" I can learn something from someone who's already done it" mentality Really did want to do a track day with some instruction, just never got around to it.
>>29041390You can still get really really good, but the guys who start at five years old are still always gonna have fifteen more years of dedicated practice at peak neuroplasticity than you.
I just got my first bike. a 1990 K75C. i love how it rides. very smooth power delivery. im trying to chase out an electrical gremlin though. when I use the left blinker, it triggers both signals front and back like hazards. Only trouble is sometimes it works as normal and sometimes it wont do it when the engine is off. thank god for the gear indicator, thats has helped me out a good bit as a beginner
went for a ride and now my gooch is sore
>>29041473At a certain point it's not about how much training you are, it's about innate ability. Athleticism, if you will
>>29041473This sort of mindset will destroy you anon.
