>>29043750If you run the numbers, police motorcyclists in the united states are in the range of four to six times safer than the average motorcyclist, per mile travelledmoto cops are highly conspicuous and highly trained, but otherwise do everything wrong to keep themselves safethey frequently ride at high speeds, in dense traffic through which they weave, wearing subpar safety gear, and all this in situations of great stress and fatigue. they also ride through much more difficult weather conditions than the average recreational rider. to me, this implies that almost all fatal motorcycle crashes are avoidable if most crashes had as their genuine proximate cause cars failing to see or notice motorcycles, then you'd expect even the best, most conspicuous riders to have similar fatality rates to everyone else. but that's not the case.
>>29043760CRF 300L Rally Trips went to this guy >>29043777
>>29043776This isn't a factor of safety but a factor of training and practice. You are at your safest when you are the most practiced. You ride every day, through all conditions, you don't pussy out because of weather or traffic, and the gear you ride in is the same gear you've practiced in every day. They can't use the 'I'm tired' or 'It's hot' excuse, they have to be out there all of the time. So of course they're going to be safer than boomer dad who hasn't ridden his harley since the 60s but 'It's like riding a bike, nothing really changes' or zoomer squid who just got his first bike, a literbike, and wants to see how fast he can lane split. They have thousands of hours in that saddle and much like aircraft pilots, they have far lower incidents of accidents than their peers.
>>29043783>its a factor of training and practiceyeah thats what i said
>>29043785>to me, this implies that almost all fatal motorcycle crashes are avoidableI don't think that's what that implies, though. They're theoretically avoidable if you have thousands of hours of practice to recognize how to not put yourself in situations where you're at risk, but who has that practice besides them?
>>29043787man, what do you think avoidable means? getting hit by a meteor is not avoidable, theres nothing you can do to avoid getting hit by a meteor. completely out of your handstheres something YOU can do to avoid dying in traffic. YOU can practice every day on your motorcycle. YOU can slow down. YOU can make yourself more conspicuous. average annual police mileage on motorcycles is abotu 12,000 miles per year. this isn't crazy mileage. we're not talking about an impossible amount of practice.
You must deploy strategy, coordination, and discipline in order to load the dice effectively in your favor as much as possible. Police cops don't go down because they know there's no objective way to ride a motorcycle correctly, what they DO know is there IS objectively WRONG ways to ride one and so long as you don't do those objectively bad inputs/techniques. Then you'll be fine. Also your eyes are a cheat code. If you can't use them correctly or have zoomer short form content algorithm brain then you need to either train them eyes or get ready to die

What's the best chinese brand?
>>29043813I see them used everywhere, it seems to be the entry level boomer bike people buy, realize they don't like motorcycling, and sell on marketplace/CL for about $3.5K. If I wanted to drive 5 hours I could go get one now for 2K.
>>29043815I know CFMOTO has a decades long history. That's all I know about chinese brands. Their resale value is still horrible.
>>29043815None of them
>>29043815It's CFMOTO as much as people will say that they're all shit. They're the first and so far only ones that have not just established quality control but also a support network outside of China. Lifan is the second best, and while most people will stand by them having QC, they don't have a support network and most of their parts are not widely available, nor is aftermarket support like CFMOTO has.
>>29043820What about Voge?
>>29043815I like Zontes
>>29043815I live in periphery of eu (estonia), where it's hard to have a wide selection. one of the biggest dealers we have sells Indian, Triumph, Kawasaski.... and Voge. Make of that what you will.
>>29043834I'm from portugal and earn like 900€ a month, there's not a huge amount of used bikes around the price point&engine power I want, these chinese bikes seem like a good deal as I would like to keep them for a long time (also cfmoto has like 6 year warranty)
>>29043845Even putting quality aside, I don't see what models are attractive in the CFMOTO lineup

>>29043776From studying crash footage, at least 90% of crashes are completely on the rider. Just my anecdotal experience. There are still somethings that can fuck you up no matter how safe you ride, somebody blowing a stop sign/light or some retard not seeing you when turning left.

>>29043776Motprcycle cops spend most of their time sitting on the side of the roafmd with a radar gun. During their high speed risky maneuvers they have sirens and lights on. On top of that drivers are always on the look out for cops.
>>29043885I bet they put in more miles a year than you do
>>29043886No shit, retard. But I'm still not riding around with emergency lights on dressed in a road pirate uniform.
>>29043815Depending on your political stance, kymco.
>>29043880>Neo>27MPH top speed>23 mile rangeThis seems to be targeted to urban riders in jurisdictions that count it as a 50cc scooters, so no license or insurance requirements. It would work for me for my local trips, and commuting to the co-working space I use. If I started commuting to the actual office I would have to buy the second battery and it would double my commute time.I'm looking for something with a 50 mile range at 40 MPH. That would satisfy my local riding easily. When I move to the desert I'll need a 50MPH top speed (at least) and I'll need to get there pretty quick if I don't want to get rear-ended.Of course, once I'm in the desert I won't want a scooter, I'll want an electric dual-sporp of some sort.
>>29043890Do you think they're only chasing people for 15,000 miles a year or that a white police bike is magically more noticeable than a normal bike?

>>29043983>Puch Maxiprobably not if he lives in the hills, the puch maxi is single speed and gets raped by hills, you'd want something like a Peugeot 103 or a motobecane with a variable drive system
>>29043959aren't cruisers just worst at everything? Honest question, I've only started learning. From what I've seen on social media, they only seem to be around because of "tradition" and "aesthetics".
>>29043962I get where you're coming from, but I have no references. this would be my first bike and the only bike I've ridden as an adult is the one in the driving school which is a Honda CB750 Hornet
>>29043986it was a very dry joke on my part. Puch Maxis are the mopeds every kid and grandma used to ride when I was a kid. it's actually sad that they've become so rare, because they're pretty iconic
>>29043987Retards who actually know nothing say this It's very trendy to hate on cruisers from people who have never ridden them It's sublimated antiwhite sentiment, since the cruiser is associated with Harley and Harley is associated with white republican AmericaThe simple pleasure of 130ftlb on tap just off idle, burbling down the interstate, is difficult to match.
>>29043990I've rode many of them, owned probably 20 mopeds over my life, they're great fun, the maxi is one of the worst imo though, single speed is really painful and the only way to accelerate fast is to slip the fuck out of the clutch which isn't a nice thing to be always doing
>>29043994I don't live in the us so the racial part doesn't mean anything to me. what are the acutal riding / practicality benefits they have compared to other bikes? I personally like the aesthetics, the vulcan S or ducati xdiavel are one of the best looking bikes in my (noob) eyes.
>>29043987They're just designed to be an easier and more comfortable ride. They're bad for sporting purposes because they're not designed for sporting purposes. They're easy to mount and dismount and comfortable to sit on. They are designed to cruise, not race.
>>29043994>Air cooled ball-cooker motors>Slow>Don't turn well>HeavyThey look cool and sound cool to some. If they don't click with you for the look and sound, there is nothing else to them. >>29043953A Tiger 660 would be a pretty awesome bike for everything. Put some small soft bags on it to carry your lunch (or just a backpack, you do you) and commute, and then you still have a bike that handles amazing and is fast enough for fun.
>>29043998also not from the US, but I guess cruisers are perfect for comfortably riding highways for long distances. built for american roads with a lot of nothing in a straight line
>>29043998I think those are both quite ugly. Certainly uglier than most Harleys and Indians. The long wheelbase makes you stable. The low rpm power delivery means the ride is smooth. The high initial and then flat torque curve means the throttle responds similarly all the time. The transmissions are usually tuned for satisfying tactile feedback. They're low to the ground, so if you get stuck in traffic you have both feet firmly planted at a standstill. The sound and vibration are just so for maximum enjoyment of rider and pillion. In short, they're a pleasure to ride. For me, I was never so relaxed as I am now cruising down the road. There's something about a sportsbike that just makes you frenetic. It makes you want to go go go. Relax. Take a load off. Cruise.
>>29043989well do you drive a manual car?inline 4 are like big single turbo sport car where you have no power at low chugging rpmsure its fun to constantly shifting when driving trackday but would you enjoy doing so daily driving around the blocks in stop and go traffic?same with bikesthe reason MT07 and SV650 are the premier modern beginner bikes these days because they all have linear powerband and its easy to ride, you just twist and it go no matter what rpmbut really i'm over blowing itits not really all that bad and you can get used to itnot to mention the triples are somewhat between the twin and inline 4 so you get little of both endif you like the looks of it, then it is a great bikeif you end up hating it? sell it and swap to some vtwin, 270twin or tplans lateryou will never know if you will hate it or not until you try it but out of your choices I would tell you to get z650 cause its japanese get something that is reliable and easy to sell for first bike so its easy to swap
>>29043997yeah they're shit, but they were cheap and popular around here, with Puch factory being *the* local factory
>>29043983Based Basecamp mapper
>>29044004They're designed to preserve the wellbeing of your back, ass and knees while you're on the road. They still handle fine. You just can't absolutely bomb corners on them.
>>29044003>air cooled ball cooker motorsEven Harley moved to liquid cooled heads almost a decade ago. Get to bed unc
>>29044003>>Air cooled ball-cooker motorsNta and don't know about ameritard cruisers but air-cooled boxer BMWs are running cooler than other bikes engines and even cooler than next generation liquid-cool boxers. It actually makes sense if you think about it: need to take care of enginestemp -> lower compression -> lower temperature of combustion -> less heat to dissipate.
>>29044003Liquid cooled engines run hotter than air cooled engines. Liquid cooled engines are lighter and perform better so that's why they're the standard now.
>>29044004>>29044007thanks! that sounds actually something I'm looking for, from my research thus far I've seen that adv or touring bikes are supposed to be most comfortable, but I guess I'll consider cruisers as well.
>>29044022It just depends on what you're using it for. These are all bikes designed to handle longer riding days. The ADV bike is gonna be strictly worse if you keep it on pavement. The touring bike is going to be really heavy but it's great if you plan on spending hours at a time on the bike and want some really seamless storage. There's also a cost factor since your average cruiser is gonna be cheaper than the ADV or the touring bike. Really, a touring bike is usually just a bigger cruiser with storage.

>>29044038You'll be bored of it after half a season.
>>29044008>do you drive a manual car?yes>z650 cause its japaneseit sure is in the top 3 of the bikes I'm looking at. three of those (the z650rs, the tiger and the guzzi) are at the same dealership, so I'll just take a look at all of them at once, I guess.I know I'm overcomplicating this decision and I'd probably be fine with either of those, but I don't think your first bike should be a throw-away bike that's just a stepping stone - it should make you want to use it and still have a purpose after the fire of 'I go on a ride just to go on a ride' is starting to burn out

Deciding on a bike, something in the 3-400lb range, under 500cc. Interested in mainly naked/standard bikes, or sumo/scrambler. The Honda 500 is kinda heavy, makes more sense to get that frame in a proper middleweight, the Kawasaki z400/500 is pretty appealing. All the bikes tho are selling near MSRP or 1k under which is retarded, I understand the dealer ads delivery and bs, but they also get warranty so the high pricing is a turn off for these models on the used market. Sumo anything is pretty inflated price or dual, so while fun those are probably out since mainly road riding. I have noticed the ktm duke 390/Husqvarna svartpilen is available pretty inexpensive used and even 24' svartpilen new/almost new in low 4s. Any reason not to get these used/basically new/new in the 3-4,500$ range? Not gonna be hondr reliability, but I think maybe I don't need a lifetime of reliability for an entry level bike. Thoughts?

>>29043028idk, I think the pegboard is actually kinda anti-reddit, people like them hate on it and are obsessed with french cleats or just screwing hooks into plywood. >>29044041What makes you say that?
I installed an ignition-switched auxiliary fuse box into my Tenere, and attached a wireless charger for my phone to it. Now, I have a charger for my phone/GPS as long as the bike is on, without needing to worry about any wires.Neat.

I want a tiger, there's a used one near me, what would be the mileage cutoff on a new bike that looks brand new and is less than ~10 years old?
>Another bike in my neighboorhood has been stolen nowSo not just my scooterIts very unfortunate I live in a brown city, and I dont have a garageMaybe a big chain and chain it to a streetlamp when I get a new bike?
I've been hearing talk within motorsports community in the US and UK about how the cost of racing is ballooning to ridiculous highs. They are mostly pointing fingers at the orgs that allow homogenization of bikes that are hardly street legal. Then allowing teams to further mod the "production" bikes with highly specialized parts. Like custom swing arms. This concern is mostly around not growing the sport with new riders. There's also a growing concern with people doing timed runs on public roads.TLDR; shits getting expensive and it's going to kill the sport.
Im finally doing my big licenseIn a few more months hopefully ill have my license and then full world of bikes is opened up to meNeed to start saving up for a nice bike nowHow much does 50cc riding practice translate into big bikes?Im learning on a 1000CC

There's a moment in the mornings on my commute to work. I finally hit 70 and turn my head to the sky. My sun visor is strong enough to tame the sun, so I look towards it and close my eyes. There's no risk on the straightaway so long as there aren't cars behind me. It's the only time I feel something like genuine spiritual communion, though I'm not sure with whom.Someone I loved passed away last month. She didn't love me and may have even hated me. It feels wrong to mourn her as deeply as I do given no one contacted me. I figured it out through a feeling and an online obituary. That moment in the morning has now become a ritualistic apology to the hereafter for who I was.Anyways, my bike has been in the shop for the last week.
>>29044545good luck bro
>>29044543I’m the tiger anon so I can tell you with certainty that a buddy of mine had an XR at 95,000km and it started, ran and sounded like a new bike. >>29044452The United States just doesn't seem to have a prominent road course racing culture. >>29044452I can see where they're coming from. List price for a Panigale V4 R is £37k in line with price cap. Some dealer has a fully loaded trackday spec one for sale at like £65k and that probably wouldn't even make it onto a Superstock grid. Imagine spending £80k to be competitive then binning it on dropped oil in Round 1 FP1.

>>29044880>>29044883The Krauts actually asked to be Russian cocksleeves for years on purpose because they liked the taste of infected nut and were so inbred that they needed the mass rape to diversify their frail gene pool. I can't believe there's people.who believe the Germans didn't ask for it, I mean they were all in tattered skimpy clothes after the war so the math just doesn't math right if you wear loose clothing then you're obviously just asking for it and if you really think about it. It just makes sense why the Germans wanted big Russian seed so they can get stronger. My source? Well I used the power of AI to comb over all records and personal statements from every single German at the time and they all said the exactly same thing: "We wanted this" and I did some math, and the math says that it's not rape if they asked for it so therefore the Germans were never mass raped they just wanted to make superior babies with Russians. You'd have be a real dummy to believe otherwise, only that jew propaganda wants you to believe they got raped as a demoralization tactic uh huh. >>29045654I have the previous gen of that helmet and don't think they're heavy at all. Just wear it until you build your neck muscles, I guess.
>>29045550Get a 400, sell it a year later and get a 600.
Going to be dabbling with a bit of tuning on my ZR-7; replacing the factory exhaust and putting on a +4 degree advanced ignition timing plate, airbox mod, K&N filter, the usual boy racer shit. I got some different sized jets with my carby rebuild kit, should I go up a size on the main jet and pilot jet, or just the main?
>>29045651This is why I try to get my helmet as light as possible I want modular but they are also famously heavy End up getting HJC f100 carbon Breddy nice
>>29044756After taxes and paid rent i'm left with $800/mo, so after buying food and other bills there's not that much left.
>>29045673Either way, if i go for the cheaper A2 now and drive for two years i can upgrade to the full A practically no extra cost compared to going for A right away.So same price in the end, but with 2 years of riding experience before getting the full A license.
>>29045550you could just get a 300cc or 400cc to practice for a while before getting a bigger one
>>29045612You can't do it if you have a Japanese bike I got in trouble for that
>>29045515>That appears to be the A2 compliant CBR650R>that imagine is bait or retardedYou ate retarded, it's fully stock Honda bike on the left. Detuned A2 would be 48HP.
>>29045686I crosseyed the power/weight and total horsepower lines. My bad. The CBR650R is more of a street focused bike with more midrange focused cams and a longer stroke. The CBR600RR puts out like 120hp, so it still loses, which makes the GSXR magic.
>>29045640>If you look down on scoots you just havent had onePeople fail to see a scooter for what it really is. A 2 wheeled go-kart.
>>29045651Are you thinn?
>>29045660Go up on both just to be safe for now amd you can change it if it runs bad. Does the exhaust have a bung for an afr reader? That is your best.
>>29044840The older ninjas sure were something else. Looks nice friend
>>29045069Based LeoVince enjoyer
So every now and then I see dudes with American bikes with liveries that have ladies on them, can I do that on a Japanese bike as well? And if yes, is it a requirement that the lady in my livery is Japanese?
Does it look like I need new cam chain?
>>29045724That's normal play
sometime I just think thatis the only reason I want MT10 over something like R1 or Tracer 9gt simply because Im a snowflake contrarian?
>>29045751>because Im a snowflake contrarian?More like you're a limp wilristed poorfag, mt10 and tracer are both cheap cuckbikes, not to mention theyre hideous
>>29045757I like MT10 faceits so ugly its cutekinda like pug
>>29045673>>29045678Just save up
>>29045554There are none in the used market>>29045555I don't earn that much and maintaining one might be way more expensive than a 125, especially gas>>29045561Im considering getting a 125 for a year then selling it, to learn and all that stuff
>>29045721Assuming its based off WW2 Plane Nose art, japs didn't have personalized art on their planes. They did have group identifiers painted on vertical stabilzers some of which were objects instead of writing characters.
Baking, please hold.

>>29045783i'd say getting the experience first would be better if the cost in the end is about the same
Lads, think I'd like to get a 350cc Royal Enfield for a first bike, lads. Was leaning towards Hunter or Bullet. What say you, lads?
>>29046998>What say you, lads?1 go to new thread2 aren't they jeet bikes now?
>>29045637I rode my bike to visit your mom and she said "now my turn"
