I adjusted throttle cable down at the throttle bodies so there is 0 slack in throttle. Was that a bad idea? Slop tells me throttle bodies might be constantly open a bit, messing up fueling. Especially when I turn my wider aftermarket handlebar and cable gets tight.

I can't really ride much any more, too old, too fat, bad back, bad knees. But I do still like working on bikes. So for the last 7 years or so I've been picking up old bikes, fixing them up, and selling them. Currently I have all Hondas. Not by choice, it's just what I've found lately in local ads.
- Trail70 - fully restored and sold, just waiting for the guy to pick it up
- SL100 - about 2/3rds of the way through restoring this one, still a lot of polishing to do, plus a few parts I'm still waiting for.
- XL350 - I have two of these, thinking I'll probably fix up the good one and use the other that's in pretty bad shape as a parts donor.

There's only so much simple pleasures that can keep you afloat in such situation. I only rode my bike 50 meters to gas station wearing only helmet, gloves and leather half-boots. Other times I never ride without full protection + neck banana. Sister of my good friend died after being ran over by tram, brain stem fracture caused by head jerking backwards too far. She had a helmet on.

Picrel for reference, though I wear jackets with inserts instead of net armor.

After I got a pretty serious spinal injury a few years ago I had a pretty similar issue. Just having an excuse to get out of the house and get the blood moving a bit does wonders for you. The guy who suggested a pool is right that getting into water eases a lot of the pain and makes it so there's less pressure on your joints and spine.
Hell, I even got to a point where I can ride again without issues.

You ride these narrow streets in a spanish town, suddenly you see a front of a transporter showing up on the side street on your ride side. There's no street sides visible, the rules call they have a right of the way, you have only a split second to decide if you are emergency breaking or going without trying to stop. What's your choice?

>>
>>29050889
Not really, you just need to plan a bit further ahead.
Example: you're lane filtering, the light turns green, cars start moving around you. Their mirrors could clip you, so you might want to accelerate past one. But if you plan ahead and duck in front of a car before the light turns green (or before the cars start moving), then you're fine.

If you need to get the fuck out of the way suddenly like in an emergency then yeah but if you're moving it most of the time not really. You need to wring it's neck out regardless to open the tap up.

The fact you can pull off so fast on bigger bikes is why I'll always put trust in bigger bikes over small ones.

>>
>>29050988
In my experience, expensive shit starts to fail after 30-40K km and if you bought used, for the price of repairs, parts, maintenance and work - you could have bought a brand new bike instead. It's an illusion of saving money. Granted, you could bet on dropping it and buying just a bit fresher bike instead and repeat the process. But unless you open up the bike entirely for pre-purchase diagnostics (and seller allows it) - you never actually know what you are really buying.

Good news everyone, we are back on dirt knobulars, new shockspring is in, old lighter gas tank back, just decided to paint the front brake guard and fork guards also

Havent put those on yet
Still need to set chain tightness and actually torque down both axle nuts
Lastly set da sag properly and thenslap the exhaust and final fairing into place

Oh and grease a few spots

Also since everything is burning and on fire in bc, i think im going to be isolated to local regions for trails if any anytime soon
Cousin should be off this or next week for some dirtbiking, maybe he borrows his and we go

Also
Since painting front fork gusrds is weird curvy shapes; imma cut out some chevrons and make it look industrial again like my crash bars were hazard striped yellow
I miss those, now that i have my old gas tank installed, i might attempt to reweld them back together again soon

For me, i just tightened the preload to 1/3 the way down of the leading ring into the threads
Based on my old stock spring and where it lines up and my stiffer spring is like 60% or more than the oem softer springrate, i figured if i go 1/3 the way; maybe thatll be close to stock sag setting on a softer spring and can just creep my way higher if it isnt
Im after i think 105cm, but maybe ill do a different number
Dood theres so much info in just the manual per terrain types, obviously tires matter too and make a big difference but next and arguably more important, if its extreme different environment, would be suspensions

Also i got mad at taping for painting, the masking tape around these curves is enlarging up the lines, and somehow lost my scisors so now im clueless about designing something different or trying again

I dont even have a bike but there is something special going on here with how cars are becoming too shitty and expensive and impossible to maintain

It feels like getting a bike is the only way to bring back that sense of freedom americans once had

Car culture is what it is in america due to unprecedented wealth and its overall vast layout from quick expansion, and then some (((policies))) trying to force multiculturalism resulting in suburbia, and lobbying from automotive industries to force people to rely on roads as well. Cars were what gave that incredible sense of freedom to americans over the past century but now thanks to manufacturers and a bad economy theyre just another way of enslaving you

America needs to accept its now just a 3rd world counrry and give up on car culture, half of americans are old boomers in giant, terribly financed- SUVs and trucks, seething at each other trying to run each other and anyone else off the road, with the younger generations mainly being zoomers on scooters, people barely managing to afford a regular car, and a small group of people fighting over a quickly dwindling supply of good old cars that can be worked on by the user instead of being financially raped

Most people are driving around with 3+ empty seats 99% of the time anyway, hauling around all that weight pissing away all that gas and paying for the wear and tear on all those materials just to get one person around makes no fucking sense in any time other than the unprecedented economic boom now coming to an end

Naked usually are geared for slightly lower speeds and depending on the model sometimes come with a detune for mid range punch instead of high end peak, making them a more fun street bike than a race replica. Some even go as far as tweaking the geometry in the forks and swingarm for lower speed maneuverability over high speed stability. There's a lot of give and take when it comes to bike design, liter nakeds are optimized for lower speeds than their superbike counterparts, still far more power than necessary but that's the appeal

Lightwright narrower bikes; frames tires and all, in addition to higher ground clearance if that were an issue- all these shits make a ride unstable
Plus who tf knows if during your crashing enthusiasms you bent a frame or bearings are frucked or swingarm is shitcanned, wheels misaligned etc.

In any case, you've got to be a real poor loser motherfucker to get one of those instead of something else on purpose.
>but I think scooters are fun!
Sorry about your low T, scrub. In civilized countries, the only people riding a scooter are the ones that have to. Anyone who can afford better just gets an actual motorcycle. And God help you if you get a 50cc. You ride in the front of the short bus. You are 1/2 of a step above actual disabled people.

In large apt complexes there are designated spots for bikes you can rent for cheap, sometimes there's a cage with card reader around it. A lot of people I knew rented a garage nearby where they wrenched their bike.

Personally, my rat bike I just chained to a public fence in a corner. It was a good neighborhood, I wouldn't consider this otherwise. After I started buying better bikes, I rented a space in parking garage from a dude that bought 1.5 size one for ATV but never got it. I want to visit US and combine it with visiting all cool places on a bike. Let's say I plan three weeks vacation. Does it make financial sense to rent a bike? Or just buy one for cheap and throw it away after the trip? Can I buy a bike in the US, register it and ride it legally as a German?

You might even look at bringing your own bike, via freight. In any case, this will require a lot of preparation. And be realistic with how many miles you can put down per day.... For me, even over 600 miles in one day means very little time for sightseeing

Here's a photo of my old super cub parked in the snow after a ride. I also took it home after that.

Where did i do that
>>
>>29051976
Damn bro I thought we talked about bikes not bicycles.

>>29051981
I took that super cub places you would not believe. That thing got rode through snow, mud and sand all the time. I only got a bigger bike so I could do highway speeds easily. The snow tires on it are a perk though.

>highway speeds
My idea of riding starts at 60mph.
>>
>>29051987
Do you do that in the winter too?
>>
incase the thieves ripped out the ecu and wiring, how hard would it be to modify a modern ECU scooter to run with a carb?
>>
>>29051989
Biggest issue is getting the carb mounted.
Now what you really should worry about is ignition if that shit is ECU controlled too.
You can nigrig it to fire off a regular coil from a hall effect sensor like I've done with my bikes.

Yes, as long as it's above water freezing temp and there was no rain that day.
>>
>>29051982
Not me, I think that's a faggot libtard also. Ted Cruz isn't perfect but he's a good little boy.
>>
>>29051994
if you get rain its not winter
>>
>>29051994
Based. I take mine out way colder than that but I also ride a lot slower than 60 most of the time when it's cold

>>29051996
Someone has never been to the midwest and it shows
>>
>>29051997
I literally live in the midwest
>>
>>29051998
And you've never seen it rain in the winter or snow when it's 50 degrees out?
>>
>>29051996
It doesn't show here in winter unless you go far north and up to mountain passes. It does get down to 25°F sometimes. I ride unless there's danger of ice somewhere along the route. Nobody uses the spiked tires here so weather agencies post updates daily. If there's ice on mountain passes - people just don't go even on cars.

But it can also rain for two fucking months straight up downpour at 35°F and it's fucking miserable even on foot, to say nothing about riding a bike. Then I naturally don't ride and drink instead.
>>
>>29051991
yeah seems like a waste of effort might aswell just get a cheap old carbed scooter at that point, might be able to keep the CVT and engine for spare parts instead.
I really wanna mod the scooter so that if someone tries to take it they really hurt themselfs, is there a way that can be done without impacting usability?
I thought about glueing razorblades to points where youd pick it up and move it normally, but more then likely id just hurt myself with that eventually

Hide explosives in the underseat storage compartment.
>>
>>29052005
im being serious
I always wanted to build some kind of mechanism to hurt thieving niggers
Also one time some boomer picked up my bike so he could park his SUV and then I got a ticket for parking on the walkway, i dont want faggots touching my bike
>>
>>29052008
How the fuck did a boomer lift it?
You didn't lock the wheels and get a motion alarm disc lock?
>>
So don't mention the name Chadfe, is what I'm getting from everyone's silence.

Got it.

Am I stupid?
There's supposed to be a lights switch above the start button
And it has a high beams indicator
But there's nothing there
>>
>>29052018
>get a motion alarm disc lock
NTA but those suck fucking ass with false alarms and the only way to disable it is to unlock it and take out battery
>>
>>29052018
its a scooter
you can pick it up and carry it...
>>
>>29052027
I've only had it go off unintentionally when I forget it's there and I mess with the bike
>>
>>29052027
I thought about getting one of those but I just knew it'd go off from banging around in my trunk
>>
I'm down to a Honda XR 150L vs. a Suzuki DR150, Mexican sold models

the Suzuki is $300 dollars more but has EFI and front ABS
riding on 30% cobblestone (pic related), 60% paved, 10% gravel with ruts
any thoughts?
>>
>>29052028
I mean I guess but they're still like 200 pounds with no convenient way to lift it from
>>
>>29052029
If you put cover on your bike it would act as a sail, when its windy it would wobble the bike a bit and that is enough to trigger the alarm. Hell even without cover, front wheel might wobble a bit.
>>
>>29052035
so am I but my friends that work out can still lift me
>>
>>29052037
Yeah but the weights way less equally distributed on a scooter
Unless you meant pick up the front and drag it with the rear wheel on the ground

Why do regular people never go on a sunday drive in their affordable sportscar anymore? Or any car?

Now I'm a pretty chill guy. I just refuse to put respect on something that is functionally similar but is used for a fundamentally different reason. You're not part of my hobby, you're just poor. Which is fine, I've been poor before. Just don't act like something you're not.

Why this fully faired bike with V4 engine can have 215ps and a wet weight of 190kg, while your 48ps pisstwin naked with zero technology will weigh 210kg? It sounds like a conspiracy almost, to keep poorfags heads down.
>>

Why are you posting a picture from google instead of a photo of your ducatti?
