How long did you practice before riding in traffic? I feel like the slowest learner ever, I've put some hours in and I haven't left first gear. Riding in traffic seems like an avengers level threat like the cool kids in my discord say.

>>29064793I'm taking classes, have a few hours on a bike. But it's parking lot slow manuvers and I'm not good at them. I'm in eu, the classes are spread out and I've had huge gaps between lessons. There is no boot camp weekend training like the american MSF.>>29064809I take it the MSF doesn't take you to the traffic? How many hours is it, I know it takes a weekend. You seem to have made it home safe, yeah?
I bought my fist bike, a Kawasaki KLX 300 and rode without my endorsement for almost 6 months before getting it. Granted I live in a podunk town where most vehicles are at least a year out of registration. My situation is to find an open parking lot like a school on the weekend and practice the starts and stops and slow manuvers. Out of the 15 people in my class only 4 of us passed. Traffic is easy once you know where to look and watch. Here in Oregon as long as you're not aggressively speeding you'll never get pulled over. Go beavers.
>>29064813this looks like 4chins, reddit, youtube comments and all other social media put together. with an inauthentic lack of hate for any specific group of people
>>29064820i asked it to say nigger but this is the best it can do
>>29064815The MSF is just slow speed maneuvers in a parking lot. I think I hit third gear on just one of the maneuvers. You get a day and a half of coached practice, then you take their test (which doubles as the state test here). Probably 12 hours of riding practice total. It's really just a basic familiarization of operating a bike and classroom stuff on how to ride as safely on the road. How much instruction have you had?
>>29064815It doesn't take you into traffic, no. By instruction it's meant to get you out of first gear for most of the exercises, but at least in my class this wasn't really "enforced" and most of my classmates just revved it super high. If you are uncomfortable on the bike, you probably won't get any better until you learn to relax. Do you ride bicycles at all?
I've been using a scooter before getting a weal bike what should I take into account besides weight difference, throttle control, and braking?
I think I got a sign today from the motorcycle godsI'm currently looking at different bikes and one of them is a Moto Guzzi V7 in yellowpic relatedI'm going to test ride one tomorrow1/2
>>29064839my sister recently bought a new house and I visited her today and she knew that I was looking for a bike and she found this model in the atticI think it's settled
>>29064838It's been literal decades since I last rode a scooter but as I recall, where the weight is carried on a scooter over a motorcycle feels drastically different. Really have to be aware of your cg
when buying a used bike, how many miles/per year would you consider too low or suspicious, meaning it's hardly been moved or not at all for quite some time?a bike I'm looking at is from 03/22 and it only has 3400 miles on it. sounds to me he rode a lot the first year, less but okay the second year, not much the third year and hardly anything this year

>>29064835>>29064836Less than 5 hours of lessons. Hardest thing I've done is doing 8s in a square and I still fail to keep it in the square (well, rectangle) box most of the time. I will have lessons in traffic also because I need to do both state (national) exams (slow speed manuvers + riding in traffic) to get my licence.I'm mostly just ranting and wanna read other people's experiences, I'm ok with progressing slow. It's just season is ending soon and I might run out of time (they don't do exams off season here).
>>29064855anything after 4 years is rust on wheels

>hiding the chin still after shavingthe haircut looks amazing though
>>29064849That's fine. Most people won't ride at all outside of summer. Most people also don't ride except on nice weekends sometimes. Sitting for a long time isn't good for a bike, but something only a few years old and still got exercised once in a while is fine. Check the owners manual for replacement intervals on coolant and brake fluid, you might be able to negotiate some money off if they're due.

Just started riding, already dropped two different bikes three times. No my fault tho, one time my instructor wanted me to ride 3km/h as he walked by, another time on a parking spot with a slope I put the side stand but it was either badly put or retracted because of slope and it rolled down under me.guysBeginners should only buy used older bikes.
>>29064973makes me feel better, I dropped it thrice in the MSFto be fair the first time was waddling it perpendicular to an uphill and I'm a manlet so it was fucking tiring tip toeing a 300 pound machine
>>29064973I didn't drop my learner bike a single time. not even close to a scare. did you ride mopeds when you were a teen or is this the first time you sit on two tires?

>>29064783I got a honda shadow for a couple thousand that my friend rode to my house. After, I just watched a bunch of youtube videos on how to ride and beginner mistakes to avoid. Then I tried to ride it on the road in front of my house, stalled like 7 times, and once I got it going I cruised around in first and second gear, practicing stopping at stop signs, making turns. I almost dropped it making a left turn from a stop sign because I stalled but I saved it. I just kept practicing whatever was most difficult (stop signs, turns) and then I practiced using rear brake and clutch control by riding in tight circles and doing figure 8s in a parking lot. This was maybe 6~ hours spent the first day I got the bike. The next day I did the same, practiced in a parking lot for like 20 minutes, and then I hit the highway. I hadn't gone faster than like 30 mph before so I was so scared to switch lanes I topped it out (80-85 mph) and just stayed in the left lane until I took my exit. Even after riding it on the highway and in traffic, every night I'd still practice low speed tight maneuvering in an empty parking lot. I didn't take an MSF and had no prior riding experience on anything but a bicycle.

Grain of salt First I would say a trauma kit isn’t for you, you’re the one semi conscious bleeding out on the ground. A trauma kit is for the people with you to grab and use on you.So if you’re always riding alone there’s probably not much use carrying anything. Second traumatic extremity bleeding is what tourniquets are for. Stick a tourniquet on your belt if you always ride a alone, and if you have traumatic bleeding on an extremity you might be lucky enough to be able to apply it. My vehicle med kits aren’t really for crash victims. I never responded to a crash (local FD does crashes) so I don’t know what crash victims need. It seems to me most of the ways you die in a crash are traumatic blunt force trauma, internal bleeding… not sure anything can help you except crashing into a hospital. Thats why I wear a helmet and an airbag.

>>29065946There is no such thing, you will adapt to it. A W800 is not as impressive of a bike as it sounds, it's extraordinarily heavy and the powertrain is not made to pull 0-60 in .5 seconds like a sportbike would. Even though I'm sure people have done it in the past. It's a parallel twin (already very indolent and forgiving to throttle twists) naked bike boomers buy. >>29065987Have you tried having money?
>>29065964
>>29065987>>got $1300 of armored gear/helmetThis was a mistake. That $1300 should have went toward a bike fund. You know how much of that kit you're going to be wearing every single time you want to ride your baiku? Probably just the helmet and gloves. You generally build a kit around the bike you want to ride, not the other way around. You'll gradually start to shed every piece as you get familiar with the bike and you realize that bits and pieces of it are extraneous.
>>29066015>1300 of armored gear/helmetNTA, 1300 of armored gear/helmet is a good helmet, an airbag, and mid tier gloves/boots 15 years ago when i was starting out, people were saying "cheap gear, try not to spend more than 700 or 800 dollars overall" 800 then is 1200 dollars now. 1300 is a very reasonable amount of money to spend on gear.

He will have to do several iterations to get what fits properly and is comfortable, especially pants gloves and jacket. Plus there's different weather conditions, you don't ride in full leather in 40 degrees heat. I assume their conventional forks, so you can just knock around for quite a while with a minor leak. If they were upside down forks you'd have a bigger problem. >>29066015>You'll gradually start to shed every piece as you get familiar with the bike and you realize that bits and pieces of it are extraneous.im that guy sorry i went to work and forgot i posted but i was thinking the opposite, ill probably wear the bare minimum until i get used to the bike and start going faster then wear more, especially since its going to get cooler as time goes on. i decided this because its hot as fuck outside plus the boots make it almost impossible to feel the gear pedals, all that gear i think would actually make it more likely to crash and injure myself at this point lolbut that only pushes me back by a couple weeks of money though anyway but its just weird how so suddenly i got into the idea of this all and after trying it out and seeing kinda how easy it is to ride im fucking dying to get started. i guess im going to just go on test drives as much as possible in the meantime

>>29066218On the MAF bikes you're not going to, it requires tools. Skill issue regardless, I can hop on any bike and shift it. You sound ridiculously uncoordinated and you'll probably never ride well if you overthink shit this badly and fuck up something as simple as putting your foot under the lever.
>>29066164A few things, the first being that you're going to have an easier time on maintenance so you're more likely to actually do it. Also as a new rider, it can take some time to get used to moving the bike around rather than letting it take you for a ride. A lighter, nimbler bike with less power is going to be much easier for you to learn these skills. If you got a bike with plenty of power, you're going to abby it for frlear of getting out of your comfort zone, and you won't learn these skills (or will do so very slowly). Lastly, if you already feel like you're flogging the bike, it's going to teach you power management. Your first bike is almost never your last, so it's good to have room to grow. By the time you feel like you want another one, you'll have a much better idea of what you want and what your skills are

>>29066164NTA my reasoning on something like the Himmy is that it's a confidently powerful 400cc naked with six gears. That alone makes it a unicorn in this space. Then you get into everything that makes it a good scrambler like the built-in crash bars and 19" wheels. So it's not only good on the road, it's also a cross-country champion. A do-everything bike for someone who doesn't know what they want. You want a do-everything bike for your first bike because you may not even like going fast. You may not even enjoy being on the road or the interstate. If you buy an 850 cruiser there's only one thing you can do with it, and that's cruise. You'll never take it off the road to see if you like that. You'll never take it fast enough to know if you want a sport bike instead. So now that the Vermont loophole is closed, what's the easiest way to get plates for a motorcycle without a title? I got a Suzuki JR80 that I wanna make street legal, currently in Ohio so the official process would be: get offroad title -> add lights, etc. -> take to BMV inspection -> pass inspection and convert to street title. If I wanted to get an offroad title, I'd either have to contact the previous owner (might be doable) or get a court-ordered title (probably not worth the hassle). Not sure if you guys know of any easier options, I've heard people talk about South Dakota and Montana for titleless bikes but haven't found any good info online. Thanks guys, hopefully I can get my 2-smoker out on the road soon

>>29065714>I just wanna get rid of it at this point.you have autism. i emapthize because i was the same way about my first purchase. i got home and i checked it out with a flashlight and the frame had rust on it and the gas tank had surface cracks from UV and the tires were old and i hadn't checked the date code before i bought it.and i was upset and just wished i hadn't even bought the thing in the first place. and i was bitching to a friend of mine about it, and he basically told me "ride the bike. it's a dirt bike. it's going to get fucked up. fix the critical stuff and ride it."and i did that, and now it's fun. is it still annoying that it has rust and stuff on it? yeah for sure but when i drop it on a gravel road and scratch up the plastics, i pick it up and don't even give it a second thought. just ride the bike, anon.
>>29065741>>29066199i'd check out 100% barstow. if you look around on amazon, you can find last season's models for like 30 or 40$. they are stellar goggles. i run a pair with my normal mx helmet, but they look fucking killer with the retro look. my only regret is that i didn't buy two pairs because i like them so much.
what to offer for a 2023 Kawasaki Z400 in Europe? Guy is listing for 5000, feels a bit high, but it has records, great luggage, crash bars. What's the lowest I could offer without sounding like a goblin or coming off as disrespectful?
