Do you obey signs?
>>2718103The only signs I obey are my sign of zodiac and premonitions I get in my dreams
>>2718103Nope, doing so would severely limit where I could go. I also regularly trespass. So far nothing bad has come out of it.
>>2718117>t. next victim
>>2718117Clutch clutchhh
>>2718103I only obey God
>>2718117I'm kinda jealous. There's lots of little things I want to see, especially waterfalls but also some ridgelines that are on private property.
I used to live in a town with three viking graves - three large mounds. They're surrounded by small wooden fences and signs saying that walking on the mounds will erode them. The way I interpret this is that people who are prisoners to symbols, be it words, narratives or cultural concepts, are unaccepted by the viking spirits and unworthy to tread upon that land.
>>2718103If they're reasonable. I won't obey signs telling me a public park or trail is closed (I'll determine whether or not it's safe or wise to traverse myself, sometimes they close them for no fucking reason and it's stupid). But I will obey no trespassing and no parking sign because I do value my personal wellbeing. When you ignore those signs you're putting yourself at the mercy of either the police or some crazy redneck with a gun. As for the one in your pic, yeah you'd be pretty stupid to ignore it.>>2718117>so far
>tent camping>arrived after dark>next to big old radio tower>pick up my stuff text morningsee sign>absolutely the fuck not be anywhere near here, asbestos and who the fuck knows what else
>>2718103signs on stuff like bridges yes. If the path is closed off and the sign has cobwebs and sun bleaching on it... I just didn't see it there.
>>2718109>>2718135based
>>2718103Worked rescue/safety in multiple french ski resorts, summer and winterPeople who don't read signs are always either cocksure boomers or retard potheads who think they're hot shitThey will literally see a yellow black sign with falling rocks and a big net blocking access to a cliff, go under it, then call in a crew because muh can't go back up to the slope They will see a "long slope ahead no beginners" sign and giggle as they go, only to get stuck with a panic attack midway through because muh too steepIf you think you're too good for signs you 100% deserve whatever happens to you next. Not mad about people who have knowledge and stay within what's reasonable, but we always have to cater to the lowest common denominator (nafris mainly) when we put up signs
>>2718439Bitchmade smdh
>see signs urging me to pack in/pack out, leave no trace, practice fire safety etc.>deliberately leave discarded wrappers there, stack some rock towers, maybe kill a lizard for no reason if I'm lucky>start a wildfire while I'm at itSorry you losers are sheep who follow (((posted signs))). Aryan Chads do what they please.
>>2718443You're a jew and this is a false flag. Get fucked retard.
>>2718443>makes transparently abhorrent post>I'm totally a white supremacist guyscould you at least try to be subtle? Aryan chads are the only ones in the world trying to conserve and preserve nature.
>>2718443Based satirist trolling self-serious /pol/tards
>>2718138So you're happy to damage a 1200 year old viking grave for your own ego of having stood on it?
>>2718548It's not about ego, it's about manliness.
>>2718600Retard
>>2718103I cant read
>>2718103No.
see thiswat do?
>>2718612if you dont stay on the path, you dont respect private property and are therefore a communist.
>>2718614well I am a communist but
>>2718103It's more fun when you're trespassing. Besides, it's worth some bonus points.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jult0BpOFQ0
>>2718612Probably just stay on the path unless there's a good reason for me not to stay on it. If I see something interesting I can't access without trespassing, I'll just trespass. I don't think that there's any reason for me to obey an unjust law when the consequences for breaking it are almost nil.
>>2718103Generally only wild animal signs, such as bear activity or private property signs. Anything else I see as a "check your skill level and evaluate conditions first" sign.
>>2718103I take signs into consideration and frequently disregard them. It's just more information, like anything else, I decide what to do with it.
>>2719322Criiiiiiinge. God how did you think that would even sound cool in your head?
>>2718103i dont go to places with signs
>>2718103I treat them as advisory
>>2719336I treat them as suggestions
2719328Hahahaha. My god, look at this loser. Lemme guess, all women are whores too right? But you also aren't getting any. What a fag, just fast track the pipeline and cut your dick off already.
>>2718103Joke's on you, I can't read.
>>2718103I dont read
>>2718103I always obey this one
>>2718103Sort of
>>2718103obey more like o-gay lmao
>>2719538Goddamnit, beat me to it.
I carefully consider the contents of the sign and then make an independent but informed decision as to my next actions.
does /out/ jump off waterfalls?
>>2719902>multiple retards have felt the need to "tag" that sign with their cute little street aliasesWill never understand this behavior.
>>2719906Because you never leave ur home town.Hop around solo and you will realise
I camped outside of a designated camp area by mistake. Arrived at a campsite drenched in sweat after dark. Turns out the area was way smaller than I could reasonably expect. I am certain others have used that spot before, though. Also, it wasn't on top of any flora that takes damage, so all in all, it wasn't great but there are far worse things. The average person is an idiot who can barely exist in furnished rooms, so a lot of signs are directed at them. But a sign like the one in the OP would have me paying sharp attention - maps often don't convey reality.
>>2720124Found one of the retards with a cute little street alias.
>>2719906>will never understand this behaviourI'm not surprised
>>2720124>>2720814Bet you stack rocks too. Attention-seeking behavior.
>>2718103>Do you obey signs?some
>>2721134What does stacking rocks have to do with attention seeking?
>>2718612Scandinavians laugh
>>2721161I wonder anon. What does leaving your little eyesores in very obvious places where other people must look at them have to do with attention seeking?
>>2721170It really gets me that there's multiple whole countries where I wouldn't have to deal with this retarded business of no trespassing signs. I mean I get it, you don't want me hunting or bothering you, but just randomly walking through a forest hurts nobody.>but you could get sued if they get hurtnobody has ever given me a single example where someone didn't have no trespassing signs, so people who went on their property, got hurt, and a court held the property owners responsible for their injuriesnot one single example, ever
>>2721254"Not being hurt" is not the golden ethical pipe dream you think it is. I dont give a FUCK if you get hurt, asshole. Go die while you're at it. You dont respect my shit, I wont respect yours.
>>2721261respecting your shit means not making loud noises or disturbing the land, nobody is just going through rando's land for no reason, they are doing it because there's a view or a waterfall therethe owners know that and don't care
>>2721254Nobody would consider it the property owner's fault whatsoever, nobody really sues out here, I presume if they tried they'd be laughed at and told you might as well try to sue nature
>>2721287people often claim the reason they can't let you go on their land is they could get sued if you get injured on their land
>>2718103I saw a sign like this while looking for new waterfalls last weekend. Notice the "and patrolled" part. Are these areas routinely patrolled by the county sheriff's or something?
>>2721412I've never seen one that said "and patrolled"they sound like ultra-dicksdid you find any new waterfalls? there's a couple I want that are on private property
>>2721415There were a few waterfalls on that creek. Two decent ones (approximately 25 and 30 feet) and some smaller ones. I scouted out the area on topo maps beforehand. Last weekend was an optimal time for going because of the heavy rains the days before. The only time I ever had a run-in with a landowner was 6 or 7 years ago, while checking out a waterfall the next county over. A nasty older woman came over to me shortly after I exited my vehicle and asked what I was doing. I said that I was going to walk up to a waterfall that I read about online. She said that she doesn't want me on her property and that she will call the cops with my license plate number if I don't leave. I then asked if I could just walk up the creek to reach the waterfall and she grudgingly said that would be okay. She maintained an angry glare the entire time and just stood there, looking at me the entire time, as I headed upstream. I reckon she had bad experiences with assholes from the nearby party college but I just wanted to check out the waterfall and then get on with my day. At least I got to see it and didn't have the cops called on me.
>>2721428>Two decent ones (approximately 25 and 30 feet)yeah that is pretty good, and it was all private property? did you park near a house?
>>2721433I parked at a rail trail parking lot, on the other side of the highway from where the waterfalls were located. I walked a ways until I found a spot without any houses or buildings, where I could sneak into the woods undetected when no cars were coming. This was all planned out beforehand using Google Maps street view and satellite view. Once in the woods, I bushwhacked uphill away from the houses before hiking back towards the creek with the waterfalls. It wasn't until I returned to the street that I saw that orange posted and patrolled sign.
>>2721437oh ok that's lucky a lot of the ones I am looking at its more like a one lane paved or dirt road that the entrance to the falls is off of so you would just be looking for a pullout>It wasn't until I returned to the street that I saw that orange posted and patrolled sign.yeah but you knew it was private land
>>2718103Lol, lmao
>>2718103Depends on the vibe and type of park. State parks you’re less likely to piss off workers, who are usually toll booth attendants. In national parks its different. More people go to national parks and if there’s a sign saying danger, its likely MORE people have died there and thus I tend to caution. Most parks with these signs are to keep tourists and normies from dying and suing. If I see the locals swimming next to a 50foot waterfall then “when in Rome”. Finally, I’m a botanist, the cool plants are off the trails, ofc I’m trespassing n shieettt.
>>2718612Oh noooo the wind blew the sign away
>>2718161If your not a mystery meat mutt, nigger, or spic if you start talking to the boomer with a gun he'll get real friendly because your the only person they've interacted with outside their bitch ass wife in over a month.
4shd0wK'gari island was was like 80% signs and fences warning about dingos. I've been to zoos with less signage than that place. I've never seen a warning sign for coyotes or wolves in Canada but I guess 1 baby lost to dingos means you go all out
There's a nice little lake in the woods I go to sometimes that's part of a restaurant's property, but the faggot new owners have put big signs literally every 20 meters that outline the area around the lake in which you aren't allowed to picnic. Part of me gets it since they were probably tired of cleaning after assholes leaving garbage around, but those signs are such an obnoxious eyesore and they ruin the place's vibe
>>2721173How is it attention seeking when none of the attention is directed at the person who stacked the rocks?
>>2718137Just trespass. You can't own a waterfall ffs.
>>2718619>any 'difficulty' above novice only allows 5lbs of gearWhat? So you just have the clothes on your back, shitty food, a gun and massive larp first aid kit? Why say to camp when you're just gonna be sleeping on the ground
>>2723598If you try this is america you get shot
>>2723606America is so weirdI went motorcycling through one year and stopped in what i thought was a parking lot.. large, empty asphalt with painted lines, to look at a map And some woman came out absolutely hysterical yelling about private propertly like dude why you made your front lawn a parking lot?
>>2723619Did you tell her "Calm your tits, Karen"?
>>2718612>property owner is generous enough to grant permanent easement through property>decide to disrespect them and wander into their private property and become their liability
>>2723622No i didnt want to get shot so i was just a bit indignant like>well, it looks like a parking lot?
>>2723627That's how trail sections get closed, forcing reroutes that involve shitty roadwalking. The Finger Lakes Trail in NY is full of these closures and there are more every year.
>>2723633No one respects private propertyNo one respects public propertyEverything gets shut down and ruinedEverybody losesMany such cases
>>2723634Like a lot of things in life, it has gotten a lot worse since 2020
if it works for sneed it works for me
>>2718606>exposure of land inequality Discarded
>>2718103noall the real good shit is off limits
>>2718619>expecting to get into a gunfight>limiting your firepower and ammunition for internet pointsHardcore.
>>2723627It's not disrespectful to walk about in nature.
>>2718612Respect it. Some land owner withdrew his easement on a very small section of a trail I'm through-hiking in the next few weeks and the only detour is a 14 MILE rural road walk. That shit is just too annoying to risk putting other people through. I'd risk trespassing through but it's a small and exposed enough section that it would be super easy to catch me in the act.
