>>2743099based>>2743095I like the green ones, very cool Kanye!
>stealing nature
>>2743145I also am nature, maybe the rocks are luring me away into the land of the lost!
OP here doing an early bump mostly cus I got a question. These are the most striking rocks I found today due to their patterns, are these petrified wood? It's okay to shatter my expectations I'm just dying to know
Best place to find unusual rocks?
>>2743095those are some pretty cool rocksif i can be bothered I'll get a photo of some cool one's I've found.
>>2744301absolutely random. certain areas are better than others but i found one of my best on a hillside, on top of moss, just laying there, like it had just fallen out the cliffside a month before.another exmaple: a point terminated crystal on a random gravel patch on top of a mountain.
Any tips on finding chert or flint in NC? I'd like into knapping
Nice rocks, I'm an amateur lapidarist so I'm always out in the woods and streams looking for cool rocks. This is a piece of labradorite that I polished up
>>2743095you should get a rock tumbler and polish some of those up. maybe not all of them but most of them would be much more interesting and beautiful when they're nice and smooth and have a lustre
Here is another piece I just finished. This I got from a state park in a stream
>>2744427dang, that labradorite is some cool looking stuff

>>2743170Don't have pet wood local to me so I'm not really familiar with it but they don't look like pictures I've seen. I could be wrong though.
>>2744379I think you fellas have a big vein of rhyolite running through the middle of the state, but otherwise just try quartzite

In the future the artifact general will also be the place to post rocks and minerals btw.
