New knife thread. Starting with my para 3. Been carrying for about a month now at work and while hiking. I can't really find anything I don't like about it. Maybe that the handle is a bit thick.

My nicer collection. Minus the AD-10 and sprint run Kershaw dividend
>>
never had a spyderco, they are stoopid expensive here, could ahve gotten some discount from a buddy who owned a surplus store, but it closed, and, ive never really like the look of them, or really understood the point of the design
>>
>>2754594
Agreed that they are expensive. I've never really understood why they are. Holding them in person you feel the quality though. The blade steel holds up for a long time though. And as far as the design I'm guessing you mean the ugly hole? It's something to get used to IMO. Helps you to open the knife faster with gloves on.

i have held one, a para 3 in some sor of digi cam if i remember right, yea, build quality is as expected but not near the price they want for it here (nearly 365usd) no i am not paying that
no, not the hole, the blade shape, almost no belly, downward pointed tip, riding really high in the pocket, just plain weird and kinda ugly handle, odd gimping

only one of they models i was kinda interested in was their Salt line, but, they are even MORE expensive with the added bonus of risking dropping it in the ocean

guess they are just not for me

Here's my Dragonfly 2 Lightweight Salt since we're posting Spyderco. Under 2 5" blade makes it super easy to carry anywhere, full serration makes it a hell of a piercer.
>>
>>2754627
I keep that one in my jeep. It has a black grip though. I also keep a Glock knife in there as well. I'm going to go get a good picture of all my knives to brag. Brb

Kek. Knoife collectors are the worst
>>
>>2754626
where do you live? even in Europe there's plenty of good offers, i got my spydercos from knifestock
>>
>>2754711
gifted one of those to an electrician friend of mine and he likes it a lot.
the plastic handle also fixes one of the major flaws of regular opinels, the handle swelling up and being hard to open. the plastic one opens nicely. more hygienic too
>>2754765
it's just got a bit holder in the side of the handle, and in the back end a holder with magnet so you can use it like a screwdriver

Bunch of fucking LARPers who just collect knives. Those knives haven't seen a single days use. Pathetic.
>>
>>2754826
oh doy now that you say that I zoom in and see the "button" is a bit, my bad lol

>>2754802
>>2754831
what's wrong with collecting knives? they have so many variations theyre inherently collectible and knife companies lean into that on purpose.
>>
After trying many folder knives I keep coming back to my SAK and Opinel.
I did move from carbon to inox on the Opinel though, hard to disassemble, carbon steel and wooden handle is simply not a good combo.
>>
>>2754837
They’re a tool and they’re supposed to be used. What good is super steel that holds an edge forever if you never actually cut shit with it?
>>
>>2754845
it's not your thing and I'm more in agreement with you than disagreement, but folks buying all these knives as drawer queens is good for the industry. them buying a ton of expensive knives helps companies keep their normal blades at lower costs.

personally I don't think anyone should ever spend rifle amounts of money on a knife, but people do what they want.

Have you tried utility blade knives? Ofcourse pretty useless for most food prep, but the blade is always sharp, you can take the blade out to use as a scraper, can take the blade out and take it on airplanes. Pretty good for a more utilitarian EDC
>>
>>2754859

I moved to one of these for simple jobs like cardboard cutting, package opening and stuff like that.
Got it for $2, great quality, no more sharpening or cleaning glue from blades.

I prefer "stanley" blades over snap off, ofcourse both has their advantages, snap offs are quicker to get a new tip on, but I've just had them randomly snap off on my if you aren't cutting perfectly straight, just slight personal preference
>>
>>2754876
I never tried those, but yeah, I wouldn't use a snap off for anything more intensive than what I listed.
Right now I'm just trying to use the most convenient tool for a given job.
Along this I use an alox classic SAK in my keychain and a stainless steel Mora in my fishing bag.
>>
>>2754882
solid line up man, i assume its a classic SD on your keys?
>>
i have next to zero uses for it, could take it to the woods but i have objectively better tools
but... but.. i want it, i wanna get back into leatherworking to make a nice sheath for it

would just be an expensive, especially the leather, project that would end up with a tool i have no use for ... but..
>>
>>2754876
>>2754862
You gotta get down on the Jappo snappy bois. They’re not expensive at all. There are 30deg blade models too, tempted by the NT Cutters with that blade stule because it’s just like an Exacto knife.
>>
>>2754831
It's funny how it's always the people who buy black coated blades that make these posts. To be fair the first two anons' knives do look pretty much unused but OP straight up said his is only a month old, and you can see signs of wear on the third anon's, it's just that the knives have materials and finishes that don't show it as obviously.
>>

Wicked. A knife thread.
Let's go boys.
>>
I do light work underwater as a scuba diver. So, I have a titanium knife for diving. Is there any way to sharpen my knife without paying for diamonds? I'm not trying to marry my knife I mean jeeze.
>>
>>2755045
Hone it with a tungsten "steel".
>>
>>2755038
why would you choose the Bond over other models?
>>
>>2755091
Some places don't allow locking knife blades.
It was more or less made for those places.
>>
>>2755032
The only one that looks like it has any use is #3 in >>2754597
>>
>>2754594
They're a bit of a knife nerd brand, often in the forefront of testing and using new steels and materials etc. They have a lot of wacky designs and collaboration if you like to collect them, but their basic designs are great user knives and affordable. It's more focus on performance steel and blade shape, rather than jumping on the latest trend and flashy knives.
>>
>>2755099
#2 and #3 both have signs of use, they're just not that prominent since the materials aren't ones that show wear really obviously. (Especially the G10 on #3, that shit is amazing, I used an orange G10 knife every day in an industrial environment for years and a few minutes with a Magic Eraser to clean the gunk out of the scales made it look pretty much new again.)
>>
>>2755091
I just like the look, more like the original
>>
>>2755290
do you carry it in a leather pouch just for style points?

I really want one of those 112s, I have a 110 and it's an awesome knife but too much of an awkward brick in the pocket and I'm not down for belt pouch carry. (Gets in the way of seatbelts, pack waistbelt, etc. too much plus it's just dorky as fuck for edc.)
>>
>>2755608
>pack waistbelt
Solution already acquired. Put it in the fannypack.
I wouldn't look at the standard 112 as a pocketknife. It's just as cumbersome as the 110 in the pocket. I use the belt sheath for both and don't have any problem
>>

gay, you are not man enough for a 110

I've been suckered by the Eafengrow 20% off sale for prime day but I've really like this EF16 for a cheap knife. feels great in the hand and it's supposedly D2 tool steel with G10 scales.

I like these Glock knives. Under 50 bucks, fixed blade with a saw and a sheath with a clip. They also look pretty cool. Suitable as an outdoors tool, for cleaning and cooking game, even hunting.

In a survival situation, if you have nothing to hunt with, you can make a survival spear using a knife combined with a sapling and natural fibers. It is a primitive woodworking project, is suitable for spear fishing and spear hunting.
>>
>>2755888
>another unused benchmeme
You can’t put the clip through the fabric? Otherwise paracord would be easy enough to stitch through there and make it look clean.

>>2755732
If you ever actually used the knives, you would understand what it takes to start wearing that coating off. It’s not going to flake while you’re cutting an apple.
>>
>>2755904
>risking losing you knife instead of just sharpening a stick, which will do exactly the same thing
shiggydiggy
>>
>>2755888
Maybe malice clips. If you're willing to permanently mod the sheath you can get universal molle clips that you could epoxy or bolt onto the sheath too.
>>
>>2755962
lol well it's unused cuz it just got delivered yesterday (from China). it's a knockoff and didn't come with a clip. just wanted a cheap full tang blade for my shooting bag in case I need to do some prying alongside standard cutting tasks.

>>2756046
I think I'm just gonna zip tie it and call it a day. it's already a ghetto Amazon Chinese bag and a fake Chinese knife, don't really wanna spend more than either of those for extra attachment hardware.
