is any of (You) from the northeast? if you like blogposting about your trips you could become the first anon in the entire history of 4chan to post certain flags thanks to your travelling/outing.check out the extraflags general on /int/

>>2767844Beautiful anon! France really has some pretty cool out, too bad about your population density....What camera are you using? I'm assuming that it is a DSLR based on the image quality. I'm asking because I'm in the market for one too and open for suggestions.
>>2767909Thanks ! Yeah when going /out/ it's quite hard to find remote places in France due to the population density. The Chartreuse massif isn't very popular so I don't see many people while hiking. > What camera are you using? I'm assuming that it is a DSLR based on the image quality. I'm asking because I'm in the market for one too and open for suggestions. It's a Canon EOS 60D with the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6. It's pretty nice but you need some practice to get good pictures (non blurry, with a good balance of light and shadow etc.). For the best results I shoot in raw and edit light & colors.
Ok you need to spend thousands on a heavy fancy camera and lug it everywhere. You can't just take photos with a smartphone.
>>2767822Maybe take better photos and label them instead of bumping your thread with mostly uninteresting semi-urban smartphone photos of an undisclosed location somewhere on the East Coast. Here's Rainier from the PCT.>>2767825Nice photos anon.>>2767844Some phones are better than others but yeah there really is no comparison in most cases.>>2767909A quality mirrorless is competitive with DSLRs these days, easier to carry too, but still lets you use actual photography settings with access to a range of lenses. >>2767975>The more effort you put in the higher quality of result you get outYeah.
>>2767975Dude, the 60D is 13 years old and you can find it for 200$ on eBay.....I recently checked, in my home country you can find one at 120$ second hand. Phones just can't compete with a decades old DSLR camera.
>>2767997Wrong photo, that's Adams, this is Rainier.>>2767998He's just coping. Photography isn't even a hard skill to get into but most people will never try anything besides their pocket rectangle.
>>2767997>quality mirrorless is competitive with DSLRs these days, easier to carry too, but still lets you use actual photography settings with access to a range of lenses. That's fair, however 1kg plus or minus isn't really that relevant to me. The main reason why I'd like to get a DSLR is the fact that they are dirt cheap because the technology is ancient.Again all of your advice is fair, but you just can't beat the piece of an old DSLR with one of those new digitals. Plus lenses for DSLRs have a larger second hand market and their price is also cheaper.
>>2768002Yeah you are right, no argument from me. I primarily use a Fuji mirrorless because its small enough to zip into my hip pouch and I got sick of having my Nikon DSLR hanging off my neck on longer backpacks. I do miss how much cheaper Nikon F-mount lenses are though lol.
>>2767997>Maybe take better photosI wasn't that anon. Maybe you should have included a photo with your criticism >>2767798so people wouldn't confuse you with others who have shit on anons' photos without offering anything themselves. I am a cityboy who is recently finding a love for the outdoors, feeling like this is really the truth. I just went to Mt. Tam in California. I want to go to places in the bay area that aren't very populous. Does anyone have any recommendations for places? And also starter guides that this board has made. I don't feel like lurking moar to find this out. ty
>>2768376>Has nobody fucking posted from up there?nobody with extraflags on one of the 4 boards that have flags, which is a small part of the total unfortunately>I know for a fact you can get 4 bars of 5g at the summit lol.it wouldn't do anything, to post a regional flag you have to manually set the flags to the place you are in, and then post in a flagboard (usually /int/, usually in the extraflags general)which is the reason why most of the flags aren't posted during the trip, they are posted from home AFTER the trip is done (pic related)
Was out at Turner Falls in Oklahoma over the weekend testing out my new ALICE rig. No one else was on the trails, everyone was down in the river due to the heat. Frankly I’m glad because it was mostly jeets and spics down there
From last weekI don't particularly enjoy summer hiking for it's too hot but this place is full of small river ponds to swim in and the views are gorgeous
>>2768526(This is in Portugal btw)
>>2768202it's way prettier imo, the amount of people was about the same when i went to both earlier in the season but i bet it has way less people than starved rock now
>>2768554appreciate the tip, this sandstone looks a bit different somehow, maybe I am seeing thingsanyways, I visited some that are supposed to have waterfalls - all dry like completely dry like no pool at all let alone waterfall
>>2768556matthiessen had a couple cool waterfalls and pools, the problem is that 99% of midwestern waterfalls are seasonal. pic rel is the only decent sized pool i saw at starved rock, the sandstone canyons were beautiful and lush though
>>2768561Oh I know but I'm certainly mentally setting aside the best ones for next early spring. We had a good soaking rain here in early May and I got some great waterfall photos out of it. I do love me a good sandstone canyon.

>>2769815>WOW look at this view!>It's so beautiful it makes me want to graffiti this rock! These "people" should be pushed off the edge of the cliff.
>>2770062I don't actually mind graffiti at all. Do I wish it were like an actual artistic theme and not just random people's names and slogans? Yes. But it's more that whenever I see a rock like this, I instantly imagine /out/ screeching about the vandalism like the e-Karens they are. Also, would you rather popular trails become permit-only if that would prevent tagging?

After being on a longer holiday earlier this year and then being knocked out for 2 months during the summer, I decided to pick up hiking here in the Alps too and not just when I'm on vacation in some other country.Last Sunday I went on my first hike, 4h 4m of walking time, nearly 7h of duration incl. stops. It ended up being way longer than I had expected. lolThe description of the hiking trail kinda fooled me.
>>2771974This was some really bitchass part where if I didn't have any trekking poles, I would have had to climb up on all fours.
>>2771975Smol lake I went by.This was my first hike this long and I think I'm going to stick to ones that take 2.5-3.5h from now on.The decent was also quite much with over 800m.I hope the weather is nice on Fri/Sat because I got plans for several more hikes and want to do once a week.

Cool mountain through a tree window today.
Nice spot I've camped last weekend at.
>>2772209Were there a lot of insects at night from the water?
>>2772213Had to squish about 10 mosquitos in the evening, but other than that - it was pretty good. Way calmer that during spring/middle of the summer. Only woodpeckers got bit annoying after 2 days of nonstop banging on the trees.
Mt. Washington and Belknap Butte as seen from one of the 212 hwy view spots. Really cool drive heading from East to West during the sunrise through the massive lava fields and rock. Stopped by Lava Lake and trotted around which made me want to go back and explore the area. Forgot an actual camera for the trip so there's only phone pics :(

>>2768439You can still be skilled in outdoors and survival skills, more or less than anyone from anywhere. I've been all over this land, lived on the road. Grand Canyon was gorgeous, Fire Canyon, the sand dunes out West, Redwood National Park, the PNW coasts and forests, just to make a few.
>>2773379Sierra Nevadas are gorgeous, as are the Rockies, and Appalachia that's where I live in the woods.
>>2768439>Does anyone have any recommendations for places? The further north you gto from the GG bridge the fewer people there are...Pt Reyes is awesome - some spots can get crowded but but still lots of places to go. Also- Bay area people are weather pussies so even the slighest inclement weather keeps most people away. Sonoma coast is over lookedMendo coast is killer...and then all the way up the Lost Coastif you are going to Siera avoid Tahoe and go north t places like golden lakes or downyville etc..
