>>2767272Did you get to hike/see any of the effects of the flooding recently?
Did the narrows hike at zion this week, ended up being over 10 miles in total. Little changes in elevation but very technical. First time I ever felt a walking stick felt needed as it helped to balance while walking over wet rocks almost constantly.1/5You pass this little waterfall right before the first deep water section (can get up to chest level a few times).
>>27801132/5
>>27801143/5Despite being close to 100 degrees outside the narrows, inside it felt like around 65 degrees, sometimes with a strong breeze which felt great. Started at 8am, finished around 4pm and most of the time there was no direct sunlight, so by the time I was done I had hardly sweat (or used my sunglasses or hat), didn't need much water and probably could've skipped sunscreen. Temperature-wise it was the most comfortable hike I've ever been on, surface-wise the most uncomfortable.
>>27801154/5
>>27801165/5This is what you see at the ~4.5 mile mark (not including half a mile from the shuttles to the narrows), my understanding is that to go beyond this point you need a permit, so this is the end of the normal full hike. You just turn around and go back, no loop. Overall a great experience, I can see why some people have it on their bucket lists, really beautiful the entire time and most people don't do the full hike so there's not much traffic past the beginning section. My home board is /fit/ but I wanted to stop by here and share, glad I do cardio because this was a hell of a workout, more than any other hike or trail I've done before.
>>2780007>>2780009Damn, where was this? I didn't get much by me, just a little thunderstorm.
From today I would be very surprised if anyone guessed the country/location correctly

>>2780654Whenever I see landscapes like this, I want to start trekking straight ahead into the middle of the mountain range. Everything looks so awe-inspiring and I just want to be in the middle of it.
I went on a 5 day hike through Sierra National Forrest, Ansel Adams, and Yosemite this last week. It was a great trip but I still get sadge seeing how burnt out SNF is now.
Not really, no

Superstition Mountains, Flatiron summit.
>>2780007Did a camping trip with my GF but it was a little too glamping. Want to do a backpacking trip on BLM now that the weather isn’t pushing 90 in CA
>>2784339Also been doing some hikes near my house and found a hollowed out tree some animal is using as a den. I think bobcat but might be coyote
Nope.
I did Mt. Tom, Willey and Field on Monday.Bluebird day, I ended up being overdressed but once I stripped down it was a fantastic hike. The tards at the Willey overlook were feeding the grey jays, which is a shame though. They were completely tamed, on the way up a few of them flew right up to me only 8 or 10 inches away.
>>2780117cool to see your thoughts anon, been thinking about doing it sometime soon
Just got back from a trip in the balkans. A few days in a city and the rest hiking around some mountains and island hopping.Hardly saw any other people and slept under the stars. Will dump a few photos

>>2780007Sandias yesterday
>>2783624Is the Allegheny NF cool? I have some friends that hang around there and always thought about visiting for a little trip.
>>2787142Its ok but its kinda a joke because most of the best hiking is to the east. If you havent seen them - check out kinzua sky walk, jakes rock (above the allegheny reservoir), and ministers creek overlook, and hearts content old growth, but the best stuff is sort of between like st marys pa and scranton - pine creek and its tributariespic related is a tributary of west branch susquehanna near renovo- the actual national forest just doesnt have that much its more like snowmobile trails oh but there is pigeon run falls but u can only get there from the west in marienville and then u take the spring creek horse trail northThe best stuff is in state forest and state game lands.
Took this one yesterday. The scenery was nice, but there was complete silence and I was thinking maybe a predator was nearby. I was halfway to my destination and decided to go back, I feared it would get very dark on my way back, and plus, I felt watched.

>>2780007Just got back from my first hike. Big Bend National ParkChisos BasinLost Mines Trail
its winter in the high country
Nothing spectacular, just a walk through a natural area near the village I'm staying at in eastern Thailand. Of course, the locals use it as a garbage dump. Thailand isn't an ideal country for exploring nature overall. >>2788031My old backyard
Went /out/ with a buddy to check out some shelters, maybe find some mushrooms or just photograph birds
Cool svampy area
Neat fall colours
Didn't find any edible mushrooms, not even birch polypore lmao, buddy got some photos of some birds that I've already forgotten the name of, I'm the mushroom guy, he the bird guy, no harm done
>>2780007i did! i shuffled across a raging creek via rope with two lines. very scary but a lot of fun. obviously, i was too scared to drop my phone inna water to take pictures
I did North and South Kinsman yesterday, wanted to bag Cannon as well but the weather was kinda nasty and hiking ski mountains sucks anyways.

>>2793239Snowshoe hike? How do you like that HPG backpack? I've been eyeing them for a while now, thinking of getting one if they are ever back in stock.
>>2793199thanks. here is a bigger view.
>>2793315>Snowshoe hike?Yeah, the traction they provide is unreal even if the float is unnecessary. I got msr evo ascents so they also have a heel riser that makes uphills a breeze.>How do you like that HPG backpack? It's a good, solid bag and I really like it but be warned they'll nickel and dime you for ever piece of it. If I could go back in time, I'd probably get a larger pocket for the compression straps like the admin pocket or tarapocket. At a minimum you're probably going to want a belt so just factor that into the price if you do decide to purchase. My single complaint is that the velcro panel which holds the belt in place is backed with cloth and the two layers are only glued together so with time and a lot of back sweat the glue has failed and the two layers delaminated. It doesn't really affect the function but it's annoying that in such an expensive bag they couldn't have run a line of stitching around the edge
>>2780116thats cool. would
Sun was setting nicely today.
Third try's the charm on ammonoosuc. The trail wasn't broken in last time and I didn't have snowshoes.

Somewhere near manali, india
It's tough to access nature in Thailand as a train traveler, but yesterday I found this beautiful 4 km hiking trail across a rocky plateau within walking distance of the Khao Suan Kwang railway station. Up here it is drier than points south, so the vegetation is more woodland than jungle.

I hate how grayed-out the mountains are most days. I wonder if you could catch a clearer outline of the hills if you went in different lighting conditions (cloudier) or maybe just before sunrise. Anyways, this is the Appalachian Trail.
>>2792781Nice fire>>2791979Very beautiful, I guess it's far more impressive in reality>>2793241Congrats anon, I love that weather when I know I'll be back at the house and sit by the stove. There was a trail there, thank you GPS...>>2798865best conditions are after rainfall, the first day when it's sunny.
It was a nice day, very windy and cold but I like it. "summit" is at 900m, snow should stay there for some time.
>>2799626>best conditions are after rainfall, the first day when it's sunny.thanks I will keep that in mindI find the best photos I get are in conditions where it is mostly to fully cloudy, enough to block the sun directly but let some indirect rays through to highlight the colors and contrast of the terrain.
