did you see the comet /out/?
>>2782581Yes. I used my binoculars to see it this morning. And I didn't start an attention seeking anime hate thread. I would literally bash your head in if I knew you.
>>2782582>I used my binoculars to see it this morningWhy do /in/cels always lie so much? is it to compensate for the fact they don't go outside?
people who like anime are worthless scum
>>2782584>anti-anime redditer gets called out for lying>immediately starts kvetchingoy vey>>2782581based rin poster, i will keep an eye out tomorrow
>>2782581It was cloudy where I live, I'll try again today but not sure if I'll be lucky. Sad because I don't have a telescope and won't in the near future so I rely on naked eye observation and events like this are rare
>cloudy at night for aurora>cloudy until morning for the comet>despite being 80+ degrees and clear during the day for the past monthJUST
>>2782581I saw it Saturday and Sunday evening. I'm hoping it gets better. Its actual brightness will decrease as it moves away from the sun, but it will be higher at sunset so it may appear brighter. >>2782582It's been east of the sun since Friday morning but okay.
>>2782581Shooting for Thursday evening when the skies will finally be clear. I'll bring my own Rin figurine to make the animehaters reeeeeee
>>2782581You and that doll should've fell off that ledge
>>2782603>Sad because I don't have a telescope and won't in the near future so I rely on naked eye observation and events like this are rareThis weekend it was bright enough to see by naked eye, and decently visible even just 1 hr after sunset. So you should be able to see even in a light polluted area
>>2782672just be sure to focus on the comet and not the doll...otherwise it makes you retarded and gay.
No luck tonight either. Getting clouded out of these major astronomical events gives me greater appreciation for "the mountains will always be there". Long live the mountains!
feels good to live innacountryside
>>2782848Sick, you captured the anti-tail.
>>2782928The anti-tail was great last night, but it’s barely a ghost on my phone camera.
>>2782581No, but I saw a falling star and wished for something :)
>>2782581No I live in England. Fog, grey formless shit clouds yes, comets no.
Saw it 2 hours ago but the Moon was 95% illuminated so the sky was far from dark but I could still see the comet with the unaided eye.Had been much cooler if the Moon could fuck off.
>>2782581Oh thats a comet? I thought it was a ufo flashlight beam. I saw it last night and the night before. Maybe the night before that one. Whatever the fuck a comet is. I know, i read the official narritive too you fucken hylics.
>>2782952me too fren
>>2782848Aligned my image with yours.
I fucking HATE being an urbanite. this is the best I could see. I wanna live in the sticks for more astronomical events.
>>2783037also, yes, I am a gay phoneposter. My apologies for the sideways pic.
>>2782672Same. Might clear up my then. Hopefully.
>been raining the whole week
>>2783111Yup, a thick wall of clouds rolled in Saturday afternoon and there has been no relief since. It was pissing rain last evening and more overcast skies are expected this evening. That will make it five consecutive nights of this shit. It's like mother nature is trying to one-up giving the ultimate middle finger on April 8, if that is even possible.
>>2783048The skies are supposed to be clearer tomorrow but the full moon will create suboptimal viewing conditions. It would be nice to at least get a glimpse of the comet after waiting impatiently all week.
Fuck me sideways, here we go again
>>2783120>but the full moon will create suboptimal viewing conditionsIt was bright enough sat and mon i was seeing it 1 hr after sunset while there was still plenty of twilight onthe horizong. Best time was between 7pm-7:30pm because after that it started fading, and had set by 8pm
>>2783157heh this website haunts me and every other fucker in europe with a telescope>sea of red except for a three hour green block which will not work, for the whole of the next week (again) It's almost supernatural, how do they do it.
>>2783335Weather.com was more accurate last evening. They had a more optimistic forecast and thankfully ended up being right. The clouds rushed out of the western sky by 7:30 and I finally got glimpse of the comet before it dipped out of view. It was rather faint but I'll take anything I can get after being clouded out all week. Going out to the rural counties with my lucky dollie tonight, in hopes of getting a better look and some decent photos.
so did it pass already because i have not heard anything about thist. northern europe
>>2783353Swede here, It's still visible but I could only see it in binoculars thanks to the Moon. Saw it 40 minutes ago.I'm hoping for clear skies on the 23rd/24th. The Moon will be below the horizon then.
no, we had pretty cool special aurora borealis here for the first time in several lifetimes, missed that too
>>2783361thanks for the heads up anon and better luck next timei climbed onto my roof with binoculars but sadly it was cloudy
It has moved a bit after 48 hours.
>>2783362There should be more opportunities to view the northern lights since we haven't reached the solar maximum yet. These go in 11 year cycles and we're approaching the peak of this one.
>>2783370it was a lot more faded for me just between sunday night vs monday nightdidn't get to see it the last 3 days cause its too cloudy. hopefully it will still be bright enough to see when the clouds clear up>>2783361>Swede here, It's still visible but I could only see it in binoculars thanks to the MoonI found it brightest 1 hr after sunset you could see it with naked eye no problem. But by 1.5 hours you had to know where to look in order to see it
Saw the comet for the second night in a row. My binoculars helped immensely. Without them, the comet was tough to pick out in the sky.
>>2783451same. it was faint enough that you almost couldnt see it if you looked at it directly
>>2783451>>2783463i feel sorry for anons who missed out, it was very bright you couldn't miss it on sat/sunBy monday it was dim enough you wouldn't see it unless you were looking at the sky, and now you need to know where to look to find it
>>2783494>you couldn't miss it on sat/sunUnless you were clouded out thenI'm just glad that I was able to see it at all because I was expecting to be completely shut out.
I see Aurora all the time, many comets, many meteors, planetary conjunctions, supermoons, and even a total solar eclipse. Weather is NEVER a concern for me, neither is location. I have never missed a single, notable event. So what's my secret?I go to bed, and look for the animeposter's photos the morning after. I stay warm and cozy, get well rested, spend almost nothing on telescopes, lenses, DSLRs, the latest iPhones, or other equipment. I never worry about weather, light pollution, editing, making time-lapse, celestial navigation or other factors.I just enjoy the OP's pics because he never misses anything.
>>2782959>>2783335Updating my blog, I saw the comet. Faint because of the shit light pollution but I found it in binoculars then watched it a long time in the telescope. The central glow was clear in a 76mm scope Takahashi san I kneel.
>>2783515wholesome post
>>2783380>mfw seen northern lights 4 times in my life, 3 times have been this year
