/out/ entertainment

sometimes when I'm settling down for making camp and I've already eaten I ain't got shit to do in my bivy but it's cold and windy so I wont go outside now, I have brought a kindle before, or a paper book, but I'd like some kind of gameboy thing to play some vidya in the down times, any suggestions?

that's what my camera is for i like taking pics when /out/
if youre stuck in a tent because of alpine weather windows then a deck of cards always works + you can play with your climbing team
>>

I don't think you enjoy the outdoors.

Nobody in their right mind takes electronics to "enjoy" while outdoors, zoomtroon.

Just listen to the wind or something. Or stay home.

I've been watching some yt vids, the retroid pocket 4 pro seems a good middle ground but I have no idea about the games it can play bc I usually play niche military simulators on my PC or minecraft/terraria/swat4/fallout nv

got the retroid pocket 4 pro in the end

nice. for me it's just a bit overkill, if I brought that around I know I'd be an iPad kid about it, lol.

i just cuddle with my boyfriend when that happens

I wanted to ask this question and this thread seems perfect
How rude is it to play a musical instrument when you're /out/? I play folk flutes and sometimes I wish I had them with me
>>
>>2784393
Not rude at all unless you're disturbing someone.
Usually non-amplified instruments are incapable of being particularly bothersome, especially in a place with poor acoustics like a forest.
>>
i just get drunk and smoke a cigar and watch shit on my phone
>>
>>2783985
Nta. I agree with your argument.
If you could phrase it like a grownup it would be even better.

>>2783984 still has a point, if you're bringing a "gameboy" into the mountains, unless its got a stack of ebook cartridges.
A phone with epub makes more sense though, especially since the ability to make emergency phone calls always makes sense.

I also recommend getting a "powerbank" for your phone. Its about 90 bucks but its fucking amazing.
Plug it the wall all night and you can put in your pocket and use it to charge your phone throughout the day.

I'd rather throw my phone off a fucking cliff

My other hobby is chess so if I don't feel like reading fiction, I'll whip out a puzzle book. I also have a small backpacking sized chess set but haven't brought it camping yet.

Acoustic instruments outdoors after dinner are kino, it's nigger rap/electronic/butt rock or any other modern amplified crap that grates on nerves.
Been toying with the idea of learning the recorder for this reason. They have a reputation for being easy to learn and when played well they have a very pleasant and sweet sound that I really enjoy.

Make sure it's the plastic middle school variety

This. I can play PS2 games on my old s21 pretty easily. Haven't tried any better emulators. My game boy emulator is pretty power efficient I can play it for probably 10 hours before the phone gets to 30 percent. With internet off of course just using the phone as a GPS, camera, and game boy.

They have these little dungeon page games where you roll a d6 and the outcome determines what direction you go. They’re neat. I think you can buy a book of them or just print them out and it’s got the whole adventure laid out in a grid.
I also whittle so I have a locking blade that I use for that. Could even whittle dice.

I bring a paperback sometimes but to be honest, I've never cracked it open camping. I'm generally doing something or BSing with the people in camping with.

books are good. I'd bring an instrument if feasible. Strumming away with some adverse weather outside is a big vibe.

Beer good warm, maybe a laser pointer. Has anyone brought a high powered laser pointer to the top of a mountain and pointed it down on a plane? There's a thought. Can't recommend.
>>
>>2783637
Have you considered picking up whittling as a hobby? Its a wonderful timesink.

Nothing like slicing off your fingertip in the middle of the woods at night.

Skill issue.
Also, valuable lesson in taking things slowly and not biting more than you can chew.
Also, just wear gloves, cotton ones work for me.
