There's not much you can do besides getting good at shooting them. Farmers who have big fields with lots of tunnel rats have to put bait in holes all the time (they even have automated machines that inject poison into the ground).

OP here. I asked /diy/ and got a non-autistic, non-schitzo response. Someone recommended Gopher Hawk traps, and they work great. Easier to set than the cheap wire traps and I got a gopher on day one. I've got 3 of them set out there and if I don't get a gopher after 2 days I'll just set it up in a different spot. I should be mostly free of those fuckers in a few weeks.

For that you need to inject a mixture of air and propane for it to really work, otherwise you get either a really weak from not enough propane or you displace the air with the same result.
