Hello anons,
I'm looking for a cheap (~100/120 euros) digital camera to ous when going /out/, preferably with a rechargeable lithium battery.

Complete noob in this field, what are you suggestions?
>>
>>2785507
unironically, a phone
if you're looking to upgrade, get one with a good camera
you'll get more use out of it, and it'll save space too
>>
>>2785508
how to cope with the built in microhpone being sensitive to wind? Putting a small sock over the tail end of my iphone when recording outside feels really retarded
>>
>>2785512
You can get an external microphone with that fuzzy filter thingy for way less than 100 euros
>>
>~100/120 euros
LOL
lmao even
>>
>>2785521
Fuck camera elitists.

I am hella rich and REFYOOZ to spend munny.
NO, I will not spend 1000 on a lens
NO, I will not spend 2000 on a camera body
NO, I don't care what a DSLR vs Mirrorless is

I just want simple pull out, click, stick back in pocket

I will laff with glee as the camera industry dies due to filthy casuals like myself with our shitty cameraphones

FUCK CAMERANIGGERS
>>
>>2785507
As long as you have a reasonably new smartphone, you'll get better results with that than a cheap digital camera unless you're looking for that CCD sensor look.
t. hikes with a dslrnosaur
>>
>>2785507
at $100-$120 you're going to find anyting that works better than a modern smartphone.

At $300-$400 you can look at a used Sony a5100/a6000 series that will actually make a difference
>>
>>2785507
phone camera beats out a lot of the dedicated gear unless you wanna do 360 video /out/door filming

camera enthusiasts, i currently have a gopro hero 3+, but need another camera for regular shots, I'm stuck with three options:

A: My iphone se 2020 that I use as my regular phone, however, the camera on it needs to be replaced for 70 bucks.

B: I still have my old iphone 7 with only a broken battery that can get fixed for 50.

C: Buy the replacement parts and fix it myself for cheaper, but risk fucking up my phone and also losing waterproofness.
>>
>>2785674
No.
Dedicated gear is much much better when it gets dark.
Also, zooming in only works with dedicated gear. 16x digital zoom is nothing anyone desired ever.
>>
nikon d3200 and a cheap ish lens is what I do. but even that is like 200ish
I always push new users towards sony stuff because you can use the phone app and wifi to transfer the photos off to your phone in the field. but no idea what the cheapest sony cam you can get is that has that feature.

>>2785692
se2020 and 7 are roughly the same to work on. I've fixed hundreds. you can practice on the 7 and everything carries over to the 2020.
I cant remember though if main cam on a 2020 is board out, i know it isnt on the 7. if it isnt board out, it is super easy, like five all phillips screws and screen can stay connected. just take care since battery will stay connected too.
also a bit of a tip, if you have trouble opening them, what I always do is just slip a razor knife between the chassis and screen exactly where the headphone jack used to be. you usually scratch it but who cares

>I always push new users towards sony stuff because you can use the phone app and wifi to transfer the photos
My d5600 did that too.

Honestly, a dedicated camera isn't worth it over a decent phone until you get into the 800+ including lens range.
And you have the inconvenience of having to carry separate lenses depending on the shots you want to make.

fpbp. phone until you want to upgrade

There are good cheap dslrs on the used market. I got a d7100 for 500 with an 18-140 lens which is good for p. much everything.

When backpacking I pack the heavy stuff in the bottom of my pack, sleeping bag is the last thing to go in without any compression sack, camera goes into the very top lens down into the sleeping bag. no case needed and easy to pull out in 5 seconds.
>>
>>2786158
>18-140 DX lens
In most situations that will get you worse imagery than a good phone, though.
>>
>>2786127
thanks for the reply but I already got the camera on the SE fixed for 60. I wasnt feeling comfortable with risking breaking anything to repair it even on the 7 because in the future I might seriously use it as a backup phone / camera for going /out/
>>
>>2785692
I'd get the 2020 iphone fixed. I assume the camera is a signifigant upgrade over the iphone 7, and since you're using it as your daily driver you won't be carrying another device. Make sure to put the phone into airplane mode in the backcountry so if doesn't rape yout battery while searching for a signal.
>>
>>2786217
Didn't read the whole thread, whoops.
>>
>>2785507
I have a Nikon point and shoot. It has better sensor then most phones. And better optics. And it's drop proof (2m) and water proof (30m). It doesn't have all the image "enhancement" that a phone does, so your average joe looks at the pictures and says "my phone takes better pictures". Honestly the drop and water proof are why I bring it over a phone.

Another thing I point out every time in these threads is that you really don't want to carry a DSLR if your goal is to be /out/. You carry the DSLR when your goal is to take pictures. These are 2 different activities. You carry the heavy camera when you know (roughly) the shots you are going for and you have included time in your day for a photo shoot. If you are /out/, see a nice plant or interesting rock and just want a pic to remember it, don't bring the DSLR.
>>

>Another thing I point out every time in these threads is that you really don't want to carry a DSLR if your goal is to be /out/.
I get your point, and absolutely feel like I'm stretching myself too thin on activities and hobbies while /out/ sometimes, but photography isn't usually one of the things I feel is overly time consuming. The things which I feel like completely overtake other aspects while /out/ are stuff like fishing, mushroom collecting, bug collecting, birding or macro photography. I carry my D850 and a 24-70 in a chest rig, and as long as I have plenty of light I can just open it up and snap away. Admittedly for lower shutter speeds I do have to stop and get my tripod out, and I wouldn't try to hike with a larger lens like the 200-500 or even 70-200.
>>
>>2785512
Are you looking to take stills or video?
>>
>>2786165
>In most situations that will get you worse imagery than a good phone, though.
In what universe? eg iphone has a 28mm and a 56mm lens for 2x "optical zoom" but it really has two choices of lens with digital zoom. iphone has field of view of 120 and 40 degrees the 18-140 has field of view of 11-76 degrees. Unless you are taking selfies and need the wide angle lense the 18-140 is better.

Don't even get me started on sensor size, resolution, RAW format, ease of accessing setting eg using the finger wheel to adjust iso to blur your waterfalls or shoot moving targets.

>>2786266
>You carry the heavy camera when you know (roughly) the shots you are going for and you have included time in your day for a photo shoot.
A photoshoot can take 10-15 minutes during a break, shooting something that catches your eye or playing with composition of the scenery around you.
but overall I kinda agree, why bring a dlsr to take a picture to remember a nice plant. bring w dslr because you like taking pictures.
>>
>>2786165
>>2786492
To make that clearer..
The iphone has a field of view of 120 and 40 degrees only while the 18-140 lens has field of view of 76 degrees to 11 degrees including everything in between.
>>
>>2786492
>Don't even get me started on sensor size, resolution, RAW format, ease of accessing setting eg using the finger wheel to adjust iso to blur your waterfalls or shoot moving targets.
None of those matter if your shitty dx zoom optics deliver a shitty soft image to your sensor.
>>
>>2786496
>t. sony rep.
>>
>>2785507
I used to carry an old pentax dslr, and then a sony NEX6, then various film cameras

I just carry my phone now, cheap cameras are not worth the weight unless I'm specifically going out to take pictures and am bringing a tripod+various primes

Save up for a FF mirrorless or don't bother
>>
>>2785507
Don't listen to these Anons recommending phones.
Get a Panasonic Lumix LX5 or LX3.
They're old semi-professional point and shoots from around 2008.
They take very nice photos and are durable as fuck.
Plus if you want to go deeper into photography they have the option of manual controls and RAW photos.
I got my LX3 for 85 euro and my LX5 for 120.
>>
>>2785508
A phone just can't rival the 60x optical zoom that I get put of my current camera choice.
Granted, part of it is for Ornithology, taking pictures of some stupid birds.
>>
>>2786497
I unironically hate sony. Their shit is unwieldy spec sheets and overly aggressive marketing.

But DX zoom glass is bad, there are some nice dx primes though, but then you're carrying more stuff.
>>
any cheap video cameras that can actually record with low light and not look like a grainy useless mess? heard that aliexpress ones are unironically decent for this
>>
>>2785508
Phone camera are shit and if you buy an expensive phone you're retarded
>>2785512
>iPhone
You idiots are cancer and the reason the cell industry is saturated by garbage sold to idiots.
>Hurr de durr non replaceable batteries and proprietary non modular cables ree
Idiots

>>2785521
GoPro hero 3 is slightly more than that and better than a phone camera in almost every way
>>
>>2785589
You can get a 4k camera from Walmart for like 70 bucks.
They almost all use the same optical sensors. Ironically the iphone digital camera is shit which is why they have to use four of them to increase their picture fidelity. It costs less than a dollar to make the camera in a iPhone and idiots pay premium because they don't know shit.
>>
>>2787332
I got a gopro hero 3+ and id say its on par with my iPhone SE gen 2 except for night time and lowlight conditions, its absolutely useless for that. Which is why I posted:
>>2787328
But thats besides the point, why are you getting all worked up?
>>
>>2787336
>All worked up
Is that your ego defense against anyone who correctly identifies you as an idiot? You must use that line allot.
>>2787328
They almost all use the same photoreceptors and the reason they differ in low light conditions is because of the filters they use. It really depends what you're using it for. You could just get a cheap one and take it apart to remove the lense filters.

buddy, I wasnt even the one you were talking about in that reply.
>photoreceptors and the reason they differ in low light conditions is because of the filters they use. It really depends what you're using it for
For recording myself from my POV going /out/ both at day and night
>You could just get a cheap one and take it apart to remove the lense filters.
way too risky
>>
>>2785508
phones are absolutely awful for landscape/wildlife photos
>>
>>2787343
>Using a screen cap as evidence of anything on a website known for image manipulation.
Breh, any idiot can use MS paint to fake a 4chan thread screen cap.
People that do it are cringe as fuck.
>>2787503
Cellphone retards killed the digital camera market. iPhone users are a plague on humanity and the reason we can't have nice things.
>>
>>2785589
Cannon rebel is the entry level camera
>>
>>2785508
phone pictures are completely devoid of soul because of all the retarded post processing and lenses without a hint of character.
at least digicuck cameras still have some soul.
>100 euros
no
>>2785589
if you're so rich and don't care about camerafaggotry just buy a ricoh gr III, because carrying anything larger and heavier is annoying.
t. struggling d810 chad.
>>
>>2786179
60 including part is whatever, half the value of the phone. I guess its well enough.
>>
>>2787840
anon, new ones are like 400.

Anyways Im kinda dissapointed in this fucking camera.
For one thing it is absolute cheeks for filming at low light, it gets this grainy blue effect filtered over top and it completely ruins every shot. So Im completely limited to filming during the day (The same goes for my gopro hero 3+ btw).
Another thing is that every shot looks... well... super amateuristic. Like, really, really forced. Its hard to put my finger on it exactly and it doenst help that im not verbose enough to describe it but it just looks embarassing. My shaky hands dont help either...

Are there any action cameras that have stabilization and can film good shots in low light? That and 1080p 60fps is literally all I care about. Any reccs? (Cheapest one preferrably)
>>
>>2787328
if you want to record in the woods with little to none light sources, then you want an IR camera and probably a flashlight or IR flashlight
there are plenty of cheap IR camcorders out there and they're probably all the same
otherwise your best bet is not recording once the sun goes down
or pay out the ass for a full frame camera and wide lens
