What headlamps do you guys use that aren't the permanently built in rechargeable battery kind? I got a Nitecore UT27 for camp, which comes with a rechargeable battery, but it's hot swappable for another one or triple aaa batteries. Now I'm thinking about picking up an HM70R 21700 with a powerful beam for walking the trail because it goes with my other 21700 gear. What do you guys use that doesn't have a permanently built in rechargeable battery?

In my experience the battery life is shit. They're good for dicking around the campsite at night or occasional rockhounding in the dark but I wouldn't depend on them.If I'm going to explore mine then I have one of the permanently built in rechargeable battery headlamps that lives permanently on my helmet.

>>2785685>What do you guys use that doesn't have a permanently built in rechargeable battery?I have a chinease headlamp with one intensity setting that runs on AAA's however I always use my Decathlon 20 Euro built in rechargeable one.It just works, two intensity settings for white light and one for red light. I have honestly never have it run out on me and it is weather proof so I'll keep on using this one until it fails.
Black Diamond Storm 500-RIt's not the brightest, but it does the job when getting an early start pre sunrise.

Have a zebralight I bought on recommendation, probably going to buy something more pedestrian. The light it produces is amazing, and using 18650s is a big plus, but it's heavy and the UI is both retarded and complicated. Always wind up nuking my retinas when I wake up to piss in the middle of the night because in my grogginess I can't get the "long click" for the 1 lumen mode the exactly right duration. Good light if you're actively doing stuff that needs light for a long time like night hiking/fixing cars, but as a backpacking piss-light it's annoying

>>2787352And no, you have to click through the white to get to the red, but it's only one button push extra. One for on(white) and once more to switch to red. Then long press to cycle through the power levels or quick double tap to switch between strobe modes.
>>2785685pic related is the best one ive ever used. i had other petzl, black diamond, and some amazon shit brand, and they all had annoying elestic straps that loosen up over a short timethis here ive had for 6 years and it has zero give is small, light, and fits into a pocket very easily.the only downside is that its not water resistant, but when it gets wet, it dries up and works agian just fine.
