>regular fire
do you mean a regular campfire? its better because its easier to start up and has better airflow. its also safer and less likely to make the forest jannies seethe

>do they keep you warm too or are they just for cooking?
It's 6in by 6in. It'll keep you as warm as you'd imagine a 6x6 fire would. They're mostly for boiling water or light cooking. Twig burners are pretty good at boiling water and take up less space than a fuel canister and burner. But you're going to need to bring something to start the fire and you'll need to gather the twigs. So, it's a bit more effort if you're backpacking and you've been hiking all day. Also, if you happen to be in an area where there are no twigs or it's super moist they're not a good option.

>What's the advantage over a regular fire?
It's relatively self contained. So if you're in an area or under conditions where a regular fire would be impractical, unsafe or illegal, you can still use one of these to do some light cooking.

put twigs in jacket to dry them out
>>

I wasn't talking about stuff that's just wet. I'm talking about soggy, think rainforests of the PNW were they get more than 250 days of rain a year and nothing ever has a chance to dry out. You can start a fire if you're really really intent on it. But it's really not a good choice .

Cooking without something to set a pot on is a hassle. You can make one out of rocks etc. but sometimes gear is convenient
>>
>>2786707
I just bought the most badass one but heres a little secret go find a titanium or stainless plate to put on top so you don't get soot all over your cuppies yeah I got it all figured out with my grade 5 titanium plate, boi

I love mine. Never have to worry about running out of fuel and they bring water to a boil pretty quickly. The main downside is that they take time to assemble and disassemble, and they make your hands and anything they touch black. They're also not great for cooking things like stews since you have to sit there and babysit it the whole time. But for making coffee/tea or just boiling water when you're not in a super hurry, definitely worth the money.

It’s more fun than practical. Who doesn’t like feeding twigs into a little fire?
>>
>>2786707
They're nice for places where you can't make fires directly on the ground and their construction helps with airflow
Imo their only real function is for cooking but they do keep you warm as long as you're sitting right next to it constantly adding twigs since they burn out so fast. My buddy used to have one he built from a stainless toothbrush holder and it actually worked breddy gud

Nice for cooking water if you don't want to carry gas.
Very light and takes up little space.
I bring one for shorter trips where just I want to brew some coffee and be comfy, for more serious trips I bring a gas stove.
