depends on how harsh your winters are friendo. just go on some hikes, you can always camp over night later when you know your limits

Might be the easiest time. Dry, few insects, cool days. Just make sure you have enough layers/a warm enough sleeping bag for night.

I live in upstate NY so it's cold but not crazy cold. Lots of camping areas near by too so if it's unbearable I could always just pack up and go back home in an hour.
