i once wrote a greentext of shit that happend to me when snorkeling (in an island in portugal where i was born)

>goes back to island (from main land portugal ill let you guess which island)
>about 3 weeks in decide with cousins to go spear fishing off the coast
>its on the north side of the island and 100y agor that place used to be big int whale hunting
>suplied the island with whale oil meat and what not

>older cousing brings spear gun and normaly we rotate using the gun
>cheap speargun from store
>water is kinda cold and visibility is not high but good enough
>i havent done any spearfishing in months so i just do shallow water freediving
>we catch nothing due to visibility after 5m being piss poor
>we are in quite a dangerous zone due to the rocks around us
>decide to call it a day after about 2-3h
>clouds open up and we get a window of better sunlight
>rest for about 10min
>me and younger cousing swim about 20m from coast (rocks not beach like small rock outcrops)
>each one of us takes a floater
>my young cousin spots an eel like fish I dont know what you call it in english (safio)
>goes down
>shoots
>brings it up and drops it in his floaters bag
>I dont think he braind hiw bcs it was a neck shot
>we rests 2-3 min and goes down looking for more fish

>for context the island is known to acasionaly have sharks but its small costal sharks and hammer heads
>there is a species of deep water shark in the atlantic ( dont know the name but its easy to find on google) its kinda big and has a dark colour and eyes that make it look like it belongs to the abyss
>ok so as I am above water looking down with the snorkel mask I see off the edge where there is a dropdown, a massive figure but its too deep to see clear

all in all I think it was one of those 400m depth sharks that decided to pay us a visit but never heard of such thing much less in this area

looked in body like Centroscymnus coelolepis or Hexanchus griseus but the fucking "face" and size of it was just too big maybe the size of a sea lion which we have a few around here.
dont know if it was fear fogging my mind but my cousin saw it better than me cs he saw it from the front, our consensus was that it was a deep water shark of sorts species not clear cs we´re not biologists
