How many state high points have you attained?Me: 4
>>2797478Neat thread idea!I got like 6 or 7, all Appalachia and under though. Never been far west.
>>27974786: WA, OR, CA, ID, UT, COI have also tried NV, but I hated it and turned back before I got the summit.
>>2797481How did you manage to summit both Ranier and Whitney but get filtered by Boundary Peak of all things?
>>2797483Rainier and Whitney are both fun to ascend. Boundary Peak is a giant pile of loose dirt in the desert.
>>2797484Fun
>>2797484Not fun
>>2797478None, but lol at every state east of Colorado. I'm higher than all those states' high points almost every time I go camping.
CA, CO, UT, NM, AZ, TX, SDhoping to do WY, MT, and ID next year. They're all a step up from anything I've done though, especially WY and MT since they are overnights in Grizzly territory which spooks me.>>2797481>>2797483I considered doing Boundary Peak this year but it looked terrible. I did Wheeler Peak instead, which is the tallest mountain in Nevada by some definitions and also way cooler.
>>2797478This kills the east coasters kek
>>2797545you have mountains and barren land and we have everything else
>>2797545If you only hike for numbers...
>>2797486Why can't they just built a road to the top here?
>>2797478>Driskill Mountainat least Florida has the decency to call theirs a hill
>>2797554Idk. What could go wrong try to build something on a moving glacier with massive crevasses? They probably just aren't trying hard enough.
>>2797574NIGGA what are concrete pylons?
>>2797575construct additional pylons!
>>2797575>>2797588Just gotta make moving ones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu0vjchAScA
>>2797478Like half of them but none of the ones that matter in the mountaineering world (Denali, Rainier, Hood, Granite, Gannett). Next year I'm going to stop at the ones in Iowa and Wisconsin since they're close enough to other interesting sites in those states like Devil's Lake and Maquoketa Caves. Illinois won't be happening unless they expand the open dates beyond the crowded holidays which suck for roadtripping.
>>2797478>Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma are just points along the elevated high plains of Colorado that touch the boarder lines>Kansas even calls theirs a "Mount" when it's literally flat landscape for miles due to the plains formation
>>279747810CA, AZ, NM, CO, NJ, NC, VA, NY, NH, ME
>>2797478ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, WV, OH, IN, VA, KY, NC, TN, SC, GA, AL, TX, NM, AZ,CA, OR, WA, ID, WY, CO, UTHoping to bag NV and MT next year. AK and HI will have to wait. Everything else don't care about
>>2797478The only one on there that matters is Rainier. Everything else is a day hike. Rainier has holes you can drop into and die if you're not careful.
>>2797818>has holes you can drop into and die if you're not carefulSo does Hood and Gannet, though not as extreme. Also obviously Denali.
>>2797821Yeah but I wanted to make a sweeping claim in order to sound badass on the internet
