i never really post here, i live in an endless suburban hellscape and i would like to find a hobby to spend time outdoors, i need more sunshine and at least a little more physical activity in my life my budget is up to around $1500, im thinking about things like paddleboards ebikes, eskateboards but i cant decide. what would you guys do with this price range? i mostly want to find something that has to do with moving/travelling even though i have a car. an e-skateboard sounds really fun but i guess id only have bike trails to ride on one if thats even allowed, and it wouldnt really be a good workout at all, on the other hand a paddleboard would be a good workout but i could only use it in lakes and i could get eaten by an alligator and half the year is too cold to want to risk falling into the water and also it maybe a little too physically demanding for how little i can do with it. i wouldnt want to spend $1000 on one and then get bored. ive only tried a really good paddleboard (not a cheap inflateable one) and was really starting to like it though. looking for any opinions. also the area around me is flat and has lakes and tends to be on the warm or hotter side for most of the year but mostly its just suburbs everywhere for dozens of miles. thank you and please help im going stir crazy being indoors all the time

oh i also consider a dirtbike but thats kind of a big deal and would cost more even just for a used one that could shit out on me and i dont know that much about engines or fixing bikes or anything too but that would be cool to get into but maybe too expensive

idk im kinda leaning towards just a cheap e-skateboard but im very undecided. i just discovered apparently they are legal in my state to ride in bike lanes and on sidewalks which seems too good to be true, i have barely ever seen people use them IRL but i have seen a guy flying through the middle of a giant 4 way intersection with groceries while riding an e-skateboard and it was based and probably totally illegal but there was tons of traffic and he didnt give a fuck so maybe not

get a kayak and learn to fish
Ebikes and paddleboards are memes for fags.
>>
>>2798913
i actually have access to a kayak at a lake but i dont really enjoy it anything like the paddleboard i used, plus its a two seater so it doesnt work as good with 1 person. im not sure if you can fish there either, i havent seen anyone doing it in decades from what i remember
and i dont like the sitting down and the rowing motion near as much, a paddleboard felt much more efficient in terms of effort being transferred into movement, and it feels good to be standing and using core muscles and the actual paddle motion felt like a better way to build strength whereas the kayak would moreso make me feel tense in specific areas
but the paddleboard was probably worth like a thousand dollars and im not sure how these cheap inflatable ones would measure up to it

i cant imagine being this autistic
life must be hell for you.

what did i do wrong?
there is no nature around me, there is not even any kind of leisure places or businesses to walk or ride a bike to without riding alongside dense aggressive traffic for miles or walking for 2 hours
everyone just goes to work and comes home to their house. its depressing. i need more sunlight in my life for the sake of my mental and physical health but what am i supposed to do, sit outside doing nothing? i do that sometimes already but damn i really want to be moving. i have a bike and theres some trails around here but its a lot to put that in my car and drive miles just to take it out and then ride up and down the same few trails over and over again but i should probably do that

i even bought rollerblades for me and my exgf but she sucked way too hard to keep up with me and i dont wanna do it alone and feel like a fag lmao
>>
i might go ride my mountain bike on a trail right now, fuckin tires are like 15 years old but it did laps around my neighborhood without any problems so maybe it wont fuck me

i misread your post
sorry

I wonder what was misunderstood now lol

Just go hiking. It doesn't cost anything.
>>
>>2798931
i live on flat swampy land which is mostly suburbs
i saw a hiking trail or two leading off from a park near here and the path was really rough, lots of brush, and it just looked like shit, like youd just be walking through shitty dense forest with brush scraping you nonstop the whole way, and its the kind of short but dense forest you have around swamps where its just like thick trashy looking plants overgrown

>budget
It makes me sad to see young people thinking they have to consoom their way into an outdoor lifestyle.
Living in the city you just have to find out what activity is either gonna be easy enough to do that it can become a daily habit (trail running in nearby parks) or that you are passionate enough about that it can become a compulsion even though if it means driving far.
I recommend joining a climbing gym, that way you will be able to socialize with outdoorsy people you can plan and carpool with. Put your number on the gym bulletin board with a note saying you’re looking for hiking buddies. Meanwhile you can get stacked in the gym while you build your social circle. A beginner’s outdoor climbing setup will run you less than $300

Bro that’s literally the outdoors. The idea that a flat swamp is shitty, but the summit of a mountain is “real” outdoors is an instagram-tier mentality.
I’m American but used to live in Europe and had so much fun doing bushcrafty things in those comfy new growth woods in the urban-rural interface

i didnt misunderstand
i misread, read it too quickly i guess.
I read
>i cant post here because i dont go outside
which i thought was stupid but with the average post on irl boards being really dumb i didnt question it.
>>
>>2798934
i mean the trail looked like basically no one used it it was sorta overgrown and shitty as hell looking
also i really do not want to get bitten by a tick because of mother fuckin lyme disease can cripple you or worse you can become ALLERGIC TO RED MEAT now thanks to bill gates probably
>>
>>2798935
>i cant post here because i dont go outside
or something along those lines
you get the gist though.
The average post here and on other irl hobbiest boards doesnt tend to be very....vibrant
>>
>>2798934
Mountains are objectively better than swamps
>>
>>2798941
Honestly OP, just go hiking/walking at your local nature preserves and do photography. Not everything needs to ge uber expensive.
all you need is a car or bike to get there.
>>
>>2798943
true. i do have a mountain bike though. seems in good condition but its 15 years old. not sure how good quality it is but i used it a lot in the past and it still rides fine, maybe gears are stuck though i cant remember
you're not supposed to take bikes onto just any wilderness trail though right?
>>
>>2798945
If its designated Wilderness yeah. Also check specific trail regulations. Remember walkers traditionally get the right of way. Get on YouTube and teach yourself how to tune up an old bike, all you should need is an allen key.

Just go walking and hiking until you feel like doing overnight camping.
>>
>>2798933
I thought about rock climbing but the membership was like $100 a month or something and i said fuck it but maybe I will oje day
>>
>>2798918
>im not sure how these cheap inflatable ones would measure up to it

they're pretty gud anon
if you're just doing lakes any performance difference doesn't really matter compared to the convenience

I leave one folded up in my trunk all summer and go to the lake after work a couple of times per week
