You can't name a better /out/ country than Japan.

Any country where the forests aren't littered with young suicided corpses is superior, anon. Although recently decedant herbivore men, blended, taste okay on rice crackers, anon.

Yeah Japan is pretty kool not gonna lie, would love to /out/ but there’s no way it has better /out/ options than USA/Cannada(esp. rural Quebec/Saskatchewan)

I grew up in north east United States (Maine/VT) and I literally could drive/walk 8 miles out of town pull over on the side of the road and pitch a tent 400 yards in the woods and never be caught.

That’s not even mentioning trail opportunities - Appalachian and pacific crest literally take months. Would be curious if Japan has anything similar but I’m a lowly poor fag who only outs on weekends and vacations and I don’t think Mr. Shekelburg will let me leave for a month or so.

/out/ here is crowded as fuck. You have to really work to backpack in somewhere you can’t see a fucking town. True wilderness does not exist in Japan. Also summer is a fucking insect filled jungle which makes bushwacking completely miserable.

The saving grace is Japanese are scared to go in the mountains in winter so you get it to yourself with all the hot springs.

Also almost everything is private land here and national parks are anal as fuck and shut down all access in winter so you have to hike some shitty lowland road for 15km because bikes aren’t allowed either. Meanwhile Tanaka sans corrupt as fuck local representative ok’d the massive forest rape trucks to drive in anyway and scrape away the wilderness for a quick buck. So enjoy walking that shitty 15km lowland road to the trailhead while dodging massive diesel spewing dump trucks that got special permission to go in all day 24/7.

Japan is so corrupt you fuckers have no idea, they don’t give a single fuck about their wilderness except as a theme park attraction like op pic related Kamikochi.

>oh by the way, you know all those gravel forest roads you love to go up and camp around for decades? some retarded city chang drove their rental Into a ditch and broke their leg because they were being a fucking idiot, so we decided to just put a locked gate in and now everyone can fuck off forever because bureaucracy NEVER EVER goes away here.

The real sad thing is I grew up going out in the us in the 80s and 90s and you could really go to some wild places. But every time I come back that is shrinking more and more, rules ares getting stricter and stricter, it’s getting more crowded, more shut down, more people angry.

So I guess everywhere is getting worse.

Alaska and Yukon seem like the last real places left. Too bad no hot springs for sale on the cheap in Alaska

Japan is actually a pretty terrible /out/ country because everything is overcrowded and developed for tourism. Japan has no true wilderness like America, Canada, or Russia.

You've never even been /out/ in Japan. Otherwise you would have used your own pictures instead of some low res slop you found on google.

In Japan, you get to choose between manicured "trails" that charge an entrance fee, "campgrounds" right next to the road where you can't even make a fire, and illegal wild camping on fenced in, private land, where there might be unsafe animal traps anywhere (as Japan doesn't regulate trapping, or hunting with anything other than guns, for that matter).
Also spiders the size of your head, if you're on Okinawa.
Source: Lived there for almost two years. Glad I'm no longer there.

BTW, here's a nice pic from Okinawa. Only downside is you have to cross some barbed wire, and jump over a collapsed bridge from WW2 to get there, lol. And some weird ryuukyuu farmer is actually living there without a car or electricity and growing fruits that he hauls to the eki on his back (also jumping across the broken bridge, but crossing the fence through the gate since he has the key, obviously.

>In Japan, you get to choose between manicured "trails" that charge an entrance fee
I was hiking yesterday and the parking lot was filled with ice and the trails had absolutely zero signage and the overlooks were so death-defying you couldn't even get a picture (it was windy) without risking falling off a cliff. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of pay-to-hike trails, I think it should be donation based at best, but I do wonder if this shit could be maintained a bit better. No blazes, no signs, NOTHING.
>>
>>2808463
That's wrong. Kamikōchi during off season can be accessed for free provided you have transportation or a place to park your car. You're also allowed to hike and camp in the area for free during this time at the campsites.
>>
>>2808464
That's based.
>>
Japan forests have higher population density than US suburbs.

I can follow it on my phone, and I do, but it's a lot nicer when I can put my phone away and just follow the colored trees.
>>
>>2808534
Jesus Christ, imagine being reliant on trail blazes and a fucking phone in woods. You do you I guess. I'll be miles off-trail with a map, compass, and good ol' common sense guiding me.
>>
>>2808555
the second you get off trail its pricker city and you are stepping over roots and shrubs and rocks and it is murder on my feet - now I've done it when that's the only way but this trail had a decent surface - other than the ice and snow on it
there was actually a doubletrack super well maintained old logging road to do the uphill part and I could have come back that way but went down the steeper singletrack
it wasn't like i didn't know the way, i studied maps for months before going, I just look at my phone to like make me feel less bad about how far it is and to make sure I am RIGHT at the overlooks cuz it was not at all clear where those were and they were not like big open sweeping views just tiny ledges

japan is pretty, but i think the best part about japan's out is you can get quality food and see some beautiful temples mixed within nature that's easily accessible with public transportation.
>>
>>2812528
So like European /out/ (swap temples for churches and castles) except it gets shat on constantly on that board

>>
>>2806944
Sask has good /out/? Where?
>>
>>2808477
So there's one exception then? Doesn't change that 99% of Japan is a shithole.
>>
>>2806920
Nepal, Taiwan and Indonesia are way better and budget friendly.
>>
>>2806920
It’s pretty cool.
>>
>>2812570
It’s definitely a different kind of /out/ experience. I really like both options. I did the Kumano Kodo a few years ago and spending all day hiking, finding random shrines in the woods, and then sitting down to an amazing Japanese meal and soaking in an onsen at night was absolutely wonderful.
>>
>>2806920
Japan is dogshit for /out/.
It's way too civilized, trails are marked clearly, laid with gravel, no fires, no savagery, no excitement or danger.
Boring as hell, beautiful nature though.
>>

Explain or are you just meming?
