I feel like this isn't the best place to ask, but I'm in the market for a chair.
But the thing is, I am looking for it to be compact as possible, weight doesn't matter, it could be 12lbs and made of lead.
It's not for glamping but rather for motocamping.
I'm also 189cm 110kg

Does anyone here use backpacking chair?
>>
oh good another low effort gear thread that has nothing to do with going outside and contains no discussion of trails or hiking or outdoor photos

Do you need a full blown chair to sit down for a long time or can you get by with just a stool for short resting sessions? If I'm going for a hike and know I might want to rest in between I have one of these GCI PackSeat stools. It's a typical triangular outdoor stool but the best part is that the legs come apart into 2 sections each so it's small enough to hang under my backpack and not get in the way much. It assembles quick and when put together is a few inches taller than my other stool.

I'll be honest I'll probably sit in it for like 4 straight hours and just stare off into the distance.
When the sun goes down I'll probably stare at the sky for another few hours.

Here you go

I don't think you could sit in one of these stools for more than a half hour or an hour at a time. Ill have to be honest and say I usually hate camping chairs, especially the ones you commonly see may out of the cheap canvas with cup holders and stuff. They're just too big, heavy and never last long. Even when car camping the most I'll take is a tall 5 gallon bucket I have with a padded seat that doubles as an extra dry storage.

>I-I totally dont care about weight!
>I promise! I just want it to be small and heavy!
just buy a helinox and stfu
>>
>>2810249
I mean like I'd rather take something th to isn't trying to save a few grams by using the absolute thinnest wall tubing.
I ended up looking a bunch of chairs up and it seems thst most of them use like a plastic hub where all the sticks go in and I'm watching thst shit flex like it's made of rubber with people lighter and shorter than me.

I guess what I mean is I don't want to buy a fucking consumable, I want to get a chair that will last at least 10 trips

I am 191cm/110kg and use a basic cheapo camping stool when I am bicycle camping. Easy to attach to the bicycle with the rest of the stuff and costs 10 bucks at most. Mine is several years old but I have seen pic related at Biltema (local hardware store) for 6,55€.
It really depends on what you want to use the stool/chair for.
>>
If you choose your camping spots carefully then you might be better off just setting up a hammock.
>>

These stools are/can be comfy, and you can carry only the seat and axis ring with you and make the poles out of sticks on-site. They are a good DIY project.

I have the Helinox sunset chair and i am 194cm/100kg. It is very comfy and I have spend hours sitting in it starring into the fire. The best thing about it is that you can rest your head while looking up and if you sit down like a normal person it will last. The only downside is the price.
>>
>>2809948
Why in the hell would you want to sit MORE after riding a bike all day?

Also the answer is an UL hammock. Nothing with poles is going to pack down smaller than some fabric and straps, unless no trees, at which point, idk, just lay down in the sand or something.

I use that exact one and it is very good

Shut up, fag. You whine like a little bitch.
>>

get at least the sunset
you can actually rest your back and live in the chair when you are off the bike

Onetigris is good. I've had one for several years and I bought a pair for my parents.

is crazy how few companies actually seem to consider weight at all when designing products that are clearly meant to be carried

If i remember correctly the helinox chair zero (middle one) was the smallest packed volume. the one to the left (helinox ground chair) was nearly the same but a bit wider and the regular helinox chair was like 1.5x the packed volume of the chair zero. Honestly I think the rei one is the same so its up to you. I use the chair zero (the other chairs were prodeal buys for friends) and can confirm it lasts up through the abuse i put it through over the past 5 years. plus its relatively easy to field repair them if need be
>>
Buy the lightest chair you can carry with back support, It changes so much, well worth the extra weight!

For $70 and no legs, it should weigh less than a chair with legs
They're just using the cheapest junk nylon they can get and claiming it's "durable" because it weighs more and people like you lap it up

If you're not a complete fatass Rei has the flexlite air. Sometimes it goes on sale for like $50. You don't always have to pack everything back into the bag it came in. this leaves you with the ability to get creative with the space you have.
All compact chairs are going to be terrible compared to just dinging a stump or using your own seat pan+stump.

will you be camping alone? if so don't underestimate the amount of time that setting up camp, cooking, planning next day's route, etc takes. Unless you're staying there for several days rather than just a stopping point on your way elsewhere.
>>
>>2812780
in the minds of normies heftyness=quality.
>>
>>2812780
>no legs
thats a plus. I have had 2 Helinoxs and between the bent poles and broken hubs Im done. I mean they're great chairs but when they break 3 days in on a 10-day canoe trip- that doesnt cut it. they even have a whole section of their website for replacement parts lol
>>

>claiming it's "durable" because it weighs more
I have had my crazy creek for 20yrs. Its very durable
>>

Came here to post the Onetigris. That and the little camp table for car camping stuff is a vibe and combined it's still cheaper than a Helinox. If you care about weight obviously there's another level to consider but for budget it's pretty good.

i found a cliq chair at a thrift store for $8. it's comfy as hell. i take it to parks with my kids. it's too heavy for backpacking, but packs down small and would be fine with a motorcycle.
