OP here, I'm not the other schizo posterI'm a different kind of schizo: I want to emergency prep a little bit.I don't plan on going innawoods and dying there, but rather stay home and try to survive until I die here isntead. A radio could be useful to follow the news in case of power supply issues, and it could also serve as a powerbank, etc

>>2811048I have a different one of these Eton radios and wouldn't recommend them; it takes an ungodly amount of cranking to charge it all the way up and after a few years now the ni-mh battery pack in it doesn't work at all. You would be better off with one or two decent solar panels and a few of the small stick sized battery banks to charge with them. No AAA batteries, not waterproof, but they're like 15 USD.The ONLY reason I don't like mine is there's something in the electronics' design that gradually saps power. They don't stay powered very long, I refuse to believe that a good quality 3400 mAh 18650 from a quality manufacturer only lasts for about three weeks when normally listening to radio. I have a Sony radio that takes two AAA and literally stays powered for several months when used in a similar fashion.
