>>2846105Depends on the lures. I like ebay for soft plastics and i split between amazon and ebay for jig heads, spoons i usually get off amazon, and for crank/jerkbaits i usually prefer to spend the money and get a "real" one from rapala or similar.

THE MOTHERFUCKING THIRD THREAD IN A ROW THAT'S FUCKED UPAt this point the fucked up version is the normal one I suppose you FUCKING retard >>2846103Spend like 2 minutes before posting your slop, please. You had another few days until it'd be deep down enough on the catalogue.
usually they're spread out pretty well but last night these fags just kept making a giant ball of niggas
an little snack perhaps
>>2846170Hope you gave that cutie a kiss>>2846142Thats pretty sweet. Do they just hit the bait when you drop it or does it spook them for a second?
These weird little fucks get pretty big, this one was at least 12 inches.
>>2846183Normally I spit in their mouths if they're too small to keep but I want a bigger one to bite. I like to think they get thrown back and tell their big bro some asshole spit in their mouth, a kiss is too delicate. The ones in the video are like an inch or two at best, but they still absolutely go for the bait near instantly when dropped. They honestly seem pretty fuckin blind and go more off smell + whatever their lateral line system tells them, quick movements or an aggressive drop make them get distance but even those tiny fuckers go try and eat whateve I have on the line. It isn't until like four inches or so that i actually have to worry about. I've caught them with an underwater camera + a few in shallow enough water to see, they're often pretty clumsy and need 2+ runs at a bait before actually getting a hook-up. Sometimes a quick up+down maneuver really makes them lock in as I assume it helps spread scent while also giving them good direction to go to via lateral line input. I straight up think the lateral line system is like the coolest shit and it sucks we cant ask fish how it works in detailCaught another of the normal bullhead size I keep so I figure I might as well attach a pic of the smallest one I've got this year to show what is essentially the lower limit for the size of bullhead i can reasonably hook
>>2846235Why are you so into bullheads? They are a species very tolerant of pollution, which you admitted to in your area, and they are not a preferred species to fish for. Catch some bluegill instead sometime.
>>2846237They bite the most from my dock and it’s hard to not just throw a line in and check it once an hour. It’s pretty wild in that during the winter the same areas I get pike in don’t produce that much during the summer. While there’s a historic pollution issue since it’s a mining town, I’ve seen a lot of other species in the lake that signal decent ecosystem health. Otters, sum water bugs, frogs of various types, beaversmuskrats and mink, other misc animals not so tolerant of pollution that it’s hard to make a determination for sure as to whether or not these are for real cancer fish. goddamn government says I can have 30 fish meals a month (most species combined) from this body of water so I while im not one to trust the government I feel like some fish in the freezer isn’t that big a deal.Pretty hard to catch catfish and not also be catching panfish. They just aren’t that big of a proportion of the population in my lake + don’t become hand size pan size easily. Apparently bass are in the lake too but they’re rare, lots of big pike and walleye in the lake I just need to take the boat out to reliably get them
>>2846240>I’ve seen a lot of other species in the lake that signal decent ecosystem healthIt doesn't work for every kind of pollution, most animals don't have a lifespawn long enough for some chemicals to affect them, or doesn't react the same to heavy metals
>>2846240Why not fish more actively? Checking once every hour is slow even by catfishing standards. You could jig a nightcrawler or fish artificial lures. Active fishing is the best.
>>2846244I have trouble believing the catfish I eat infrequently from this lake are worse than say eating a can or two of albacore tuna infrequently. I also in general have a hard time dismissing any indicators of a good waterway as "yeah well its complicated!" Yes, it is complicated, but I'm the one here at this lake with the most information. My local government says 32 fish meals a month for the consumption advisory for the lake. I don't hit anywhere near 32 in the average month, probably half that in a good month.Until I actually get fillets tested from various bodies of water around me, I have a laundry list of indicators the lake is as healthy as one might reasonably expect, with next to no indicators of poor health in the lake beyond some small patches of algae during the hottest months of the year.Of course, if there's anything you know of that I can do as an individual without highly specialized equipment to get more/better information on the lake, I'd be more than willing to try it out. A doctor on my street had the water tested and it's safe enough to swim in at least. If I was to play it safe, I wouldn't eat any fish from any lake ever.>>2846246I fish all day every day. After moving in around December, I have fished every day. Since I work from home I often just cast out my lines and check them between the individual tasks I do. An hour has proven to be the sweet spot in that 30-45mins often enough I didn't get a bite at all while over an hour there's a good chance my bait got stolen or there's a fish on the line. I fish actively enough about 2-3 times during the day where I'll jig around the dock or cast a rapala a few times over 30min-1hr, altho the weediness makes hard lures a bit of a pain to repeatedly cast out and work. Most of my perch are from active fishing. It has been raining for five days straight making standing outside on the dock less appealing.I guess in short what I'm saying is that I do both active and passive fishing.
>>2846277You're not the guy living in Wisconsin, are you? Anyway, I totally would get out on a boat if I had one and were you. I would try to find less weedy places to fish or use weedless techniques. Another thing you could do when it warms up again is remove weeds / add structure to the area around your dock.
>>2846286naw im not wisconsinbro, am from ontario canada. Today was a high of 6 and a low of 3, probably time to take the boat and dock out soon desu. but you are dead right that the boat is sick, last time I went for a proper run I got this fella. sucks my slot size is none over 18.1 inches though.
>>2846277don't get me wrong, i would do the same as youbut "yeah well it's complicated" do apply, my region have a lot of agriculture so there's a hight pesticide pollution, but on the other hand water is extra clean and have a lot of health indicators like some fragile plants and indigenous crayfishes, because they arn't affected by pesticidesmy neighbour and farmer use the local pond as a water reserve to water crops, so he empty it and fill it up with water pumped deep underground and get the pond tested regularly, so i know the water is clean, i would be a lot more carefull otherwise
>>2846105Flea markets
>>2846292>>2846105Flea markets are decent but my best deals have been from estate sales and auctions where you purchase old tackle boxes full of tackle
>>2846293Yea, my neighbor dropped me a tackle bag with a dozen of surface / yoyo iron, couple of trolling lure, and hooks for $5 on his garage sale when he was moving out
>>2846288Good. I am glad that you aren't just eating and catching bullheads. A life of only bullheads is like only drinking powdered lemonade, watching Bollywood instead of Hollywood, or exclusively eating hamburgers and never steak. That is a nice walleye
>>2846307>watching Bollywood instead of HollywoodEating shit instead of Shit™ 3: the prequel to the sequel is bad?
>>2846103>Op's pictureI think this is a shame. How long did it take for that catfish(?) to grow to that size? Many years I know. The older I get the more I think fishing is for people who actually dislike fish. You stick a hook through its lips, drag it into an alien world where the air burns its skin, and then you just throw it back even though it might die of stress from the whole ordeal. What a wholesome thing to do with the kids! Oops didn't tie the hook properly and now that one lives with a chunk of metal stuck in its head that will slowly kill it. Ah well son, out of sight out of mind haha! But who cares, because APPARENTLY (from what dad mumbled into my ear once) fish don't "have any feelings" so who even cares?
>>2846331How can you say a squadron of gyrating indians is... anything good? Imagine the smell. Imagine how fucking annoying that music would be by the end of the film - I would rather poke a corkscrew into my ears.
>>2846336NTA..... I don't disagree. But the other anon isn't wrong either. It's a choice between a turd and a shit sandwich. Have you seen what Hollywood has been putting out lately? I just don't watch movies anymore.
>>2846290its so hard for me to resist retaining at least a handful of bullheads each week, whenever it rains my backyard becomes filthy with nightcrawlers which I collect and slap on a jig I cast out into the water. In very simple terms its a renewable edible resource that needed nothing beyond what I already had laying around.>>2846307yeah bro only reason bullheads are so over represented is that I often just post w/e the fuck I catch as I catch them to abuse the fact I live on the water for the first time in my life. It's like being able to post your guns on /k/ and style on nogunz. All summer dudes went past my dock like 20ftish beyond what I could cast to and a lot of them caught walleye and pike doing that, so I've been trying fairly hard to figure out what I can do to make my odds better just off the dock. Probably need better rods meant for big time casting at least during summer. Fall appears to be bringing more interesting fish closer to shore more often.pic is the last nice pike i brought out, p sure my best is like 30 inches but this 1 is just a nice average specimen
>>2846331>>2846336>>2846339I'm the anon who posted the original Bollywood comment. I rarely watch any contemporary movies. Think of it as Bollywood throughout the ages vs American cinema throughout the ages.

What's a good side hobby to go along with this fishing shit? I need something to do on the specific weekends when my plans get cancelled because I get fucked over on wind and I can't go out in the kayak.
>>2846503Have you tried drinking heavily? Once you acclimate you can combine the two hobbies, especially on a kayak for added fun.
>>2846503You're the guy who wants to go kayak fishing after work even though there isn't enough daylight for that to be reasonable, right? Just do something other than kayak fishing. Fish ponds or river banks.
>>2846503I paddle even when there is hurrican force winds. it's pretty common here. if you don't like doing that just anchor down, or buy a motor.
>>2846540This, soon you will be bull fighting and pulling in tuna by hand off the coast of Cuba.
>>2846540Does anybody actually fish or kayak without alcohol?
>>2846590I Smoke The Reefer ;)
they didnt do this at all during the summer is this to keep warm from radiant body heat/piss or some shit?
>>2846638I mainly fish saltwater but from what I remember this is a response to larger fish having an increased appetite before "settling down" for winter. More of a survival mechanism of staying together huddled up (like Quint's speech from Jaws) and also going toward the shallows and vegetation to avoid being eaten.
>>2846639makes hella sense there was 1 time this summer when I had a shit ton of the lil bullheads in my minnow trap and a giant fuckin walleye was just hanging around it staring at the unobtainable food in front of hea dink a day keeps the doctor away
Caught my limit on crappie and sun fish right off the dock today, vacuum freezing a bunch of it to stock up for winter
>>2846743Nice. I caught a couple today tooI had an absolute MONSTER on the line but it rubbed the line on the concrete platform and my 6lb braid disintegrated like wet toilet paper
>>2846743definitely a crappie day
Today, I gave a fly fishing lesson for a hundred bucks for 2 hours, and I got a 50 dollar tip. The clients were very nice. After that, I went catfishing with some coworkers. The girls showed up late, but one managed to catch us a bluegill. In any case, we had frozen shad. First fish was after dark, and it was not huge but bigger than your typical eater. My friend cooked one fillet as nuggies in a corn wheat flour mix with seasoning. And the second was beer batter. This was my first time eating catfish, and it was great. Next fish came much later, and the other girl was able to catch one. She caught a 4.4 kg (scale stuck in metric) 30 inch fish. She was scared to hold the fish. She had lots of problems with the fish, but she eventually overcame her fears and posed for this picture. It was a great night.
>>2846780Cute cat.
>>2846759damn bro emptied the entire pond in one go
a happy change from bullheads
>>2846835Are pike good eating? What time of day did you get him?
>>2846839Not him but pike are great, they have lots of meat on them, some people don’t like them because they have a bunch of tiny bones but those have never bothered me
>>2846841I heard they're more active at night but i only ever caught 2 during the early morning. There are some bigguns around me, would love to take one home Maybe i need to throw bigger bait to attract them.
>>2846839Amazing eating. Definitely very consistently in my top 3 favorite freshwater eating fish.I got this guy sometime before noon, to be fair I casted out a line at sun-up and checked at 12 due to forgetfulness and he was on good. Had a fairly large jig on with a pretty big minnow hooked thru the tail.>>2846841yeh im getting better at excising the y-bones. personally I can eat around them but im also fine with "losing" some meat by cutting liberally.>>2846842That might be from someone who was confused/got mixed up in the whole "walleye/pickerel/pike" thing that happens in some places. I only say that because walleye are absolutely active at night while night pike is universally a rarity among everyone I know who fishes a lot. I typically only see pike at night chilling near some weeds, they might bite if you manage to get your bait right infront of them but they don't seem to prowl or ambush as much come nightfall. prolly a sight thing.Definitely difficult to "oversize" your baits when it comes to pike, researchers fairly often find pike choked to death on pike that were nearly the exact same size as them. They are voracious eaters during the day in my experience both stationary and trolling but they LOVE hitting a bait that's trolling gingerly past their lines of sight. They don't have a dorsal fin which allows them to just suspend in the water column staring forward before making an S-shape in their body while they kind of coarsely charge their prey, making a C-shape with their body to stop. Their physiology and the advantages it brings is interesting.TLDR: jigs with worms/minnows of any size work just fine, as do various crankbaits/raps/whatever so long as you work them. In my experience they want minnows more than worms.I have a thing where I don't like posting unless im also postingfish so here's another big clump of tiny bullheads balling up at night time
Threw together a box with shit I failed to catch any thing on all year, wish me luck trying to prove I didn't waste like 100 on soft plastics and hair jigs.
>>2846860Image related I'm retarded.
>>2846839pike is my main target, pike meat is one of the best you can get in freshwater if not the bestthey do have these Y bones that can be annoying but there's methods to get them out
>>2846835Widdle guy>>2846842Never managed to get one at night but there are those who say they bite sometimes. People always throw lures and baits that are too small pike are used to eating large fish if you have big pike throw the biggest shit you got they'll always surprise you. I've had pike follow a muskie lure as big as they are right up to the boat and take a swipe at it.
>>2846898>if you have big pike throw the biggest shit you gotthis, every pike I have caught has either been on a fuckhuge glidebait while targeting bass or trolling slowly with a big firetiger Dardevle
I've been mountaing my kayak on my dad's Subaru, and the situation is untenable. My kayak has gotten fucked up and heaving it up there is a bitch. I'm thinking about buying a truck anyway and getting a bed extender for my kayak or buying a Yakima trailer. I know they're pricey, but I have access to really good deals. The problem is where do I store the trailer if I get one. I can just barely store my kayak. I don't quite have the space for a trailer too.
>>2846904I ran into the same problem trying to find a trailer so I could buy a sailing dinghy.I suppose your only recourse would be to check if your HOA cares if you park the trailer on the street. I guess you could store it in your backyard, too.
>>2846904>The problem is where do I store the trailer if I get oneWhat are the regulations like where you live? A few towns over there is a city that lets people park trailers on the lawn as long as there is a cover and they don't look like ass (the language is more diplomatic but you know what I mean)
>>2846863What were you going for? All of those look like things panfish would devour.
>>2846907I'm thinking backyard or side of the house. Definitely can't park it on the street.
>>2846904An Anon last thread got a foldable kayak and seemed happy with it
>>2846904Trailers marketed for kayaks are overpriced as fuck. Just get a 4x8 or 5x8 utility trailer diy kit. A step above your typical harbor freight/northern tool steel one. Like the stirling galvalume, it's not that expensive. Most all have dinky tires that are borderline highway rated, but you can replace them. You can use a utility trailer for other things too like a truck bed. The kayak trailers are nothing but the same steel c channel but with a long ass tongue good for nothing but a lightweight kayak. No real benefit at all. Truck is another option but suv + trailer is cheaper and arguably more utilitarian.
>>2846904My parents have a big canoe we take out occasionally and we used to roof mount it on his truck and it was always a pain in the assGot a bed extender and now we just slide it fully loaded with gear right into the back, very convenient, makes launches super fast too
>>2846904>>2846926Yeah it is pretty good. Doesn't really fit in my trunk but slides right in the back easyThe only downside is you sit right on the floor basically and the sides are low so if it is choppy your ass is wetDefinitely a fair weather kayak
>>2846103bring back the big titty fishing girls!
>>2846910I was planning to drift the jigs for salmon since I hear that works, and I used to do that with a corky back in the day. I ended up just cast and retrieving one of the black ones and got some bites from what felt like some little bass, but eventually snagged and lost it. Will try again when I'm not sick. Missed a huge one in the spot I was fishing when I swapped to worms, so they're still around.
Can someone help me identify this lure?

This is pure coomslop. These women are not fishing. They tan and chatter, and when bubba the cuck catches a fish, he hands it over to his dominatrix for a picture. Whatever happened to quiet fishing, lest the fish might be scared? You don't bring a woman, let alone one of these bitches, to do some serious fishing.
>>2847097i'm sorry scantily clad women offend your delicate sensibilities.
>>2847097well the only objective difference is between whether or not they're there for the boat and just happen to be given a rod or appear to be genuine fishing bitches. I prefer it at least tend towards not boatgirl/instathot >>2847077>>2847078these work as actual big titty fishing girls, personally i probably get more excited over 3ft wels catfish than a flat bitch if I had to choose. essentially my public support hinges on C cup and above, ideally above.>>2847097you're a faggot and probably an retard too. did your aunt outfish you when you were young you jumbo faglord
>>2847105Not offended. When I watch porn, I watch porn. When I fish, I fish. Sometimes, it's nice to mix incongruous things, but plastic whores and fishing go as well together as sauerkraut and chocolate.

Going up to salmon river area tonight. Hopefully the rain is bringing in steelhead and doesn't make it unfishable tomorrow and over the weekend. Thinking i should probably start off tomorrow morning a little upriver and work my way down as the rain and river calm down a bit. Think it is too late for decent salmon?
Any ice fishermen here?Never done it and kind of want to try it out, what gear do I need? Looking at one of those pop up ice houses on sleds, an auger, and some short fishing poles, do you also need a fish finder?
>>2847200Ice fishing is shit, and I sell the shit for it. Ice fishing reels are grindy shits. Ice fishing is the least engaging form of fishing. If you want to just try it out, you'll need an auger and an ice rod. If you like it, you will definitely want an electric auger at some point. Then, you'll want to get a sled, more rods, and tip-ups. After that, you'll want to get a shelter.
>>2847203I don't mind if it's not exciting, I moved to a lake this year and want to try out ice fishing in the winter, I am thinking of cozy nights after work with my dog out on the lake in a shelter getting drunk while waiting for fish to bite, but I have never really ice fished before so I don't really know where to start.
did you guys ever try the 4pc Shakespeare fly rods? it's cheap and look good enough for a travel rod
>>2847200yeah I ice fish every year as much as I can, its the tits. It's really simple rly once you are confident you won't freeze to death.non-directly fishing essentials: shelter (doesnt have to be wild but those pop up shelters on sleds you mentioned r great), possibly those hand warmers/a buddy heater in case you need it since its possible to retain your heat but very difficult to get new heat if you get your hands wet or something, an auger (manuals work but are prone to getting bent out of shape/needing sharpening, a used gas is probably the cheapest option but bare in mind weight, king of all options is electric since its lightweight powerful and will make like 200+ holes on a single charge. then you need an ice skimmer to take out any remaining ice/clean holes as needed.Shelter/Comfort, Auger, Skimmerfish essentials: if using rods some kind of rod-holder comes in handy. You can easily get ice-fishing spinner rods for like $30-$60 depending on quality and those tend to work great. Its just a scaled down rod & reel set and they aren't "grindy" like old-school ones can be you could also choose tip-ups instead either the type that raise a flag when bit or the type that will be pulled down when bit. I'm personally really fond of tip-ups and find myself bringing in fish by hand even with a rod. Tip-ups at least come built in with a way to secure them, even if that's just jamming the cocksucker down into the snow real nice. Then its just line which 4-8lb is typically what I see being used and tackle + bait. I do jigs with minnows.and of course some way to transport it all like sled. But in simplest terms you need: way to tolerate the cold and survive in general, way to make & maintain holes, way to put lines down those holes in ways you can reasonably control.A fishfinder isn't necessary but certainly brings advantages. I use a Deeper just to check the depth. The real fun is in an underwater camera, vid is a pike that checked me out and decided no thx
Hoping to get out tomorrow and swing flies for lake run rainbows for a few hours and then move to the lake erie shoreline for walleye. The xrap 14 is a lot more lure than the husky jerk 14 and it caught me off guard
>>2847288i never use these because it's a pain in the ass to unhook, i prefer soft lures with jigheads
any tips for getting fall Walleye? Haven't been having any luck with minnow jigs
>>2847293I'm not a walleye fisherman, but one thing that comes to mind is that you could be fishing in the wrong spot or are fishing incorrectly. Try varying your retrieve.
>>2847289They can be a pain to unhook but i want the rattle and suspending and i cant get as much rattle or hang time out of a soft plastic. I do love me a paddle tail though.>>2847293Fish rocks by deep water at night with large jerkbaits is all tge farther my insight in to the topic goes. Dams, breakwalls, hard bottom features near shore where they can corrall and chase shad.
>>2847305>I do love me a paddle tail though.i'm more a curltail guy myself, but mostly out of habit, i've been using these rapala with taste and salt in it, pikes gobble it upi'd use an inline spinner if i wanted rattle, i wish these would come more often with single hook
>>2847308I like curly tails too, but my heart belongs to thevpaddle tail. Id consider a spinner but for what im doing the sink isnt ideal, do same problem as the plastic. You probably could catch walleye on the lake erie shoreline with them but the current advice is big suspending jerkbaits high in the water column and fished slow.
a fellow fisherman
Hooked this huge perch the other day. Biggest fish ive caught so far. Just started fishing a year ago.Caught on a 6# braided drop shot with worms
>>2847366Now that's the kind of weasel I would let into my pants.
>>2847409and here i am trying to target smaller fish because pikes don't fit in my freezer
>>2847528I have a huge freezer but I havent harvested any fish yet. Just started fishing last year, still haven't figured out which water bodies near me might be safe enough to eat fish from. I love catching little dinks though!
>>2847530how big is the one you fish in? if it's been artificially populated at some point (which happen a lot in europe since it's the law) there's a chance you got pikesthrow a bigger lure on a line that can handle a bigger fish and see what come out
>>2847531I usually fish streams, but this pond is about 25 acres, 10 feet deep. There are definitely bigger fish in it, I hooked something huge and it snapped my line while I tried to land it. I'll be going back this coming week with a different set up for heavier fish.
>>2847533>and it snapped my line while I tried to land itif tension was gone without feeling any force applied it was most likely cut, it feel different from snappingalso i'd use nylon over braid on not too deep waters to avoid the line being cut on a rock
I wanna thank Bluegill hitting a crankbait for breaking the skunk tonight. Sorry I didn’t get a picture of him still hooked to the crankbait.
>>2847288I got a hit on it but pulled the hooks. From the couple seconds i had it pinned it didnt feel like a monster so im not too upset. Here is a little size comparoson between a husky jerk 14, x-rap 14, and shad x-rap 13.
This summer>Cod having trouble in local waters >Soon to be endangered>Catch and release only, but dont actually try to fish for them>Talk to local fishing/tackle guy>Fat fuck in eskimo gear sitting inside during summer>He pulls out photo album from his last cod trip>Explains to me in great detail how they were caught>Browse through 30-40 pictures of the same dead fish from different angles>About 450kg of cod now in his freezer>He jokes about how he has trouble literally giving it away for free on facebookvery funny, fucking retard. >>2846019You were right to up the line, I got snapped off 8 lb leader twice, dammit. Feel bad that there's one with a 3/8 oz spoon attached to it..I upped my mainline and leader to 15 lb braid and 15 lb fluoro and it worked perfectly after that. Landed 6 over the past week and hooked another 5 or so. No issues with biting at all. I also crushed the barbs on my treble hooks and had no issues landing fish.
>>2847660Itll shake that spoon soon enough, within a week almost certainly. But yeah, fish dont really care about youre line and its nice to have some power available when toure trying to keep a big one out of a tree. Glad you got some, any pics?
>>2847662>Itll shake that spoon soon enoughHope so! I was sad to see a small, dead one in the shallows where I was fishing, almost certainly from being overly stressed out and/or released improperly.. here is a hen I released after I managed to take a quick pic.
>>2847662And here's a smaller buck that I released onto the smoker!
>>2847665If there was no obvious cause of death it was almost certainly killed by A: some boomer who insists you can't use more than 4lb because they'll see itB: some googan whe had it out of the water for 20 minutes to make sure they have a picture of it from every possible angleC: some prick milking her for eggs and causing organ damageD: some combinationIts unfortunate. Hopefully a raccoon or coyote or something finds it and has a good dinner.>>2847666Satanic trips hell yeahNice fish, too that hen is super chromed out, i bet she went nuts as soon as she ate.Im still fruitless though ive got a total of 6 non consecutive hours on the water, all of which in poor conditions- 2 hours too low, 2 hours too high, and 2 hours in chocolate milk.
>>2847678>>2847665i was wondering, if you see a dead fish in the water, should you leave it be or take it out on the ground?i suppose a decaying body can't be too good for water quality, especially stillwater, and there's bunch of animals that could take care of it on ground
>>2847680Thats a tricky question- fish die and rot in the water unseen plenty often, but on land it is easier for an animal to get. But, an animal wont always get it. Im gonna say it probably doesn't matter, an animal that finds and wants that fish will go in to the water for it, and regardless microbes will do their thing and itll be gone by next season.
>>2847681and while we're at it, why do people say fish covered in sand die? what's the mechanism here
Where THE FUCK are the trout? I'm in western PA fishing the Youghiogheny River and I'm casting spinners, spoons, jerks, live baits can't catch a single fuggin trout but just the other day I went in a riffle that looked like it would be a good home for a trout and caught a 20in walleye. Where do I find these little bastards? I try shallow, I try deep pools, nothing seems to produce trout but I'm catching really nice fish. Big walleye, muskie, smallmouth but never a goddamn trout.
>>2847666>>2847665NiceI had no luck friday or saturday so ended up going to the reservoir and caught a mess of largemouthWhat day did you catch those? I was out for hours on saturday and didnt even see anybody else hook up.
>>2847678>some boomerFunny you mention this, I met two with that mentality over this past week.>some GooganSaw guys doing this, unfortunately.>super chromed outShe totally fought like a fiend. Such a rush fighting these fish, man!>still fruitlessHopefully November's good to you, now that it's cooled down properly. >>2847688These were caught Friday.
>>2847701October is always rough for me, november is definately peak season.Proper chrome fish are always a blast, i had one run so hard my fly reel handle came back around, beat up my hand, and bruised a knuckle.
>>2847705>>2847682Fuck missed the replyDamage to the slime coat
>>2847706>Damage to the slime coatyeah but how do that kill the fish, i mean there's still scales and skin underneath, and can't the slime just grow back?
baitbucket ft weird water beetle dude
>>2847712Nice! Giant batter bug, aka the toe biter. Stay clear of it's proboscis. It'll try and stab you if it can, to try and get away.
>>2847707>>2847706Yea, but it was actually never proven and a borderline pseudo science sentiments. Healthy fishes should be able to regenerate fish coat fairly quickly. Losing a bit of slime coat is no worse than getting minor scratches and cut and fishes survive that easily. Yes, slime coat function is to protect the fish against external environment and infection but it is the very first line of defense that is meant to be disposable and easily replenished. The scale and skins are the next level up and fishes can recover even when that level is penetrated. People misconstrued studies about how sick fishes lack the slime layer and might eventually die. However, that might be a reverse of cause and effect. The disease might (and probably) be the condition that causes the fish to have difficulty regenerating slime layer in the first place, not the lack of slime layer making the fish sick. Yes, lack.of slime layer will exacerbate the health issue and might lead to death eventually.
>>2847707>>2847727Yeah damage to the slime coat isnt usually the direct cauee of death. Though if a fish has been weakened by over-playing and/or spending too much time out of the water, it can allow for a potentially lethal infection to set in. Its not always a death sentence, probably not even usually, but its still poor fish handling. Im not perfect though and sometimes the only option to land a fish is to drag it on to the sand. The real sin for slime coats is cloth. A net, glove, or wrag will fully strip the entire slime coat and ive seen slime coat damage from a 'tailing glove" (mesh glove to give better grip when grabbing a fish my the wrist of the tail) directly turn in to a pretty severe infection.
I wish I could catch something that wasn't a minnow species. Maybe if live bait wasn't illegal here, but all they do is steal my worms before the salmon reach them. Even the big ones, 12-16 inchers don't have enough meat to be worth me bringing home so what's the point of them existing?
Yupp, that's some good fall fishing right thurr. High traffic bridge with nowhere to stand is always the best spot, pull something big in every cast. 100 feet up or down the river and there's not shit.
>>2847784Except this little guy, think it's a lamprey bite?
>>2847786>think it's a lamprey bite?maybe a leech
>>2847712When I was a kid those bugs absolutely terrified me, they still gross me out especially if you see them carrying around eggs.
Fishing has been shit lately. On my two day trout trip, I caught no trout, but I did do a lot of much needed relaxing. I went out for walleye, but these two Africans fished on top of me and invaded my personal space. They were incredibly rude. Today, I went out in the kayak for a few hours. No luck whatsoever. One positive thing is that I'm spreading tenkara at work. But that reminds me of another negative thing. I think the drag on my new Curado is fucked.
I finally managed to get one
>>2847854Hell yeah man. Was that on a fly set up? The bait looks pretty bright. How was the lighting/water clarity?
>>2847869Yup, my swingjng setup- a 6 weight glass switch rod with a skagit head and sn orvis battenkill reel. The fly looks fucked cause its inside out, its a flashabou popsicle. The ingredients are flashabou and egg yarn lashed to appropriate hardware.>pic, except a weightless versionWater was a little dirty but not bad, and it was the last half hour of daylight- with daylight savings fishing after work is becoming less of an option.I wonder if lake run rainbows in ohio would react to night time mouse fishing similarly to how michigain brown trout do
>>2847854nice eating size catch dude. What state
>>2847961Yeah, great size for the table. I traded it to a coworker for some vennison. Caught in Ohio.
>>2847871>Night time mouse fishingSounds like it could have potential. Let us know how it goes if you try. Night fishing is too spooky for me, personally.
>>2848060Ive done some more research and found that rainbows tend to not react to mice as well as broen trout, my buddy suggested i try big marabou muddlers and similar flies with a lot of water push fished high in the water column. Maybe if i get good results with that ill shift to mice for experimentation but mice are definately kn the back burner.
What knot do you guys use for 100lb fluoro? it's a pain in the ass to do a nice knot
What are your go to brands? Hooks, line, rod and reel, clothes, lures, etc. Who do you always pick up?
>>2848109Usually people start using crimps about that size but uni knots and kreh loolps work well>>2848116Gamakatsu makes great hooks, power pro for braid, berkley for mono, diawa for rods and reels, clothes i dont worry about brand much, lures i like zoom, zman, and i really like zman soft plastics and rapala hard baits but i dont worry too muxh about brand for lures either. For fly stuff i like echo, scientific anglers, opst, and air flo.
>>2848117>about that size but uni knotsHow many loops, i've tryed 3 and 4, it hold but i'm not sure i can trust itI'll try kreh
>>2846103Snook Candy but losingbait on YouTube had the video idk 67
>>2848120Yeah 4 or 5. If you're worried about trusting your rig, tie one up and break it you can put a lot of force on a rig by snaggjng a 10/0 circle hook on a tree limb and pulling on a nail through the eye of a swivel. Wear a leather glove, thatll keep the nail from digging in to your fingers and more importantly keep a couple feet of essentially weed whacker line smacking your knuckles. Also consider tying the rig as normal, and trying to break it with the rod. You can try the palomar too but it may be hard to seat.
>>2848116For hooks, I've used Eagle claw all my life. I've only really started using anything else because I started tying flies. For flies, I like Gamakatsu and umpqua. I just bought some Orientsun hooks and they seem to be good. For line, I always used Berkley, again until I started fly fishing. For that I use SA and Rio. Most of my spinning reels are Shimano. My rods are all over the place though. I have Ugly sticks, Diawa, Berkley an a couple more I can't remember the name of. I like them all. I like 5.11 taclite pants and shorts. I usually wear a generic USP50 ultralight shirt when fishing. Lures.... Rapala for crank baits, Mepps and Panther Martins for inline spinners, Strike king and Booyah for spinnerbaits, Berkley and Yamamoto for soft plastics.
>>2848132Oh! and for fly rods and reels, I'm team Echo
>>2848116i just look at whatever is cheap and sort out what is shit and what isn't according to comments and reviewswork most of the time but can get time consuming to get it right
>>2848116Daiwa is my go to for spinning reels. Other stuff i shop around and try new brands
>>2848116Daiwa for reels or cheap combos. Berkley for bait and line.
>>2846904For those that may care I roof top a 39 pound Pelican Rebel sit inside. Very reasonable setup on a grand am. Lift isn't far and low weight means your setup isn't much trouble. I used pool noodles, ropes and ratchet straps. Pelican Rebel is very stable with some fishing features. Fishing this year was a lot of fun, mostly catching pike. Grub tails, Mepps spinners, spinner bait, Rapalas, boot tails, pretty typical stuff.

>>2848116Owner hooks, yo-zuri hybrid line, daiwa tatula baitcasters, shimano spinning reels, gamakatsu swivels, expensive levis 512 jeans, cheap department store shirts, buck 420 stainless knives, wendys or chick fil a, folgers instant coffee, honey nut chex, sargento cheese, dill pickle pringles, and bridgford sweet baby rays beef jerky.
>>2848192Preferred brand of lubricant for intimate moments?
>>2848138>>2848155What Daiwa reels do you guys like? I've always been on team Shimano. I've got several Stradics and a Nasci. Thoroughly enjoy them and they've lasted a long time.
>>2848204I like my bg, fuego and qzNever had an issue with shimano but i think the daiwas feel really good at their price points
>>2848130I actually heard people occasionally use weedwacker line in place of the heavy mono as the rub leader for shark rigs, since I'm a cheap Jew I made up a few rigs from weedwacker line and AliExpress hooks for a Florida vacation to do some sharking, but ended up only catching a few babies on pure wire rigs and not getting into those, so I have no idea how it works. If I won the lottery I'd spend the first month on a Florida beach trying to catch a big shark on janky gear.

I got my monthly Smitty's box yesterday. One pattern I already know, pat's rubber legs jig, is the beginner pattern. And something new for the intermediate pattern, an articulated streamer they call the Smitty's sculpinator.I've tied tons of pat's rubber legs, both with and without a bead head. So this month's beginner pattern was very easy. But it's a great fly, so it never hurts to have more. Supplied materials: size 10 jig hooks, 3.5mm slotted tungsten beads, 136D uni thread in black, rubber leg material and two different colors of two tone chenille. Not included, lead/lead-free wire.
>>2848246I tied 3 in each color. I probably wouldn't have thought to buy the orange color, but I like it. Hopefully the fish do too.
>>2848247The intermediate pattern is pretty neat looking. I've only tied 9ne other articulated fly, Skid's marabou mop. I'm familiar with all of the techniques required. It's similar to tying together a couple wooly buggers.Materials included: size 2(front) and 4(back) streamer hooks, 9.5mm sculpin coneheads, olive marabou, 136D uni thread in olive, upoven straggle hackle, articulation wire, silicone leg material, and Senyo's laser dub.
>>2848248Forgot pic...
>>2848249I tied up 4 back halves first.
>>2848250I finished the first one. I'm going to take a break before I finish the last 3. I'll finish the hackle closer to the cone in them. I wasn't sure how much room I'd need, and ended up with a larger gap than I'd like. But otherwise, it went together pretty easily! This is a very neat looking fly! Lots of movement.
>>2848253I ended up throwing the first one back in the vise and adding more dubbing, to fill in the gap. This was a fun pattern and pretty quick and easy once I got the hang of it.
>>2848234Ive heard of it too and i imagine it works but have no first hand experience with it.Id love to get a big shark from shore though.>>2848250>>2848253>>2848257Articulated streamers are a lot of fun. Those look good too.
Tried fishing a river near me that has lots of white bass that eat top water in the evenings, but none of my topwater lures I use for largemouth work on them apparently.I wanna take my fly rod there and try again, but what kind of dry flies do white bass like?I see people taking about clouser minnows for fly fishing white bass, but those are wet.Do they stay near the top of the water when you strip line and pause to strip more?
>>2848204Anything above crossfire is fine.
>>2848275> what kind of dry flies do white bass like? Poppers. Go to a sex shop and get some.>Do they stay near the top of the water when you strip line and pause to strip more?Absolutely not. Clousers are heavy, sparse flies. They are never fished on top.Come to think of it, I've caught white bass on divers, which are very similar to poppers.
>>2848204I don't like that a lot of shimanos don't have a reverse switch. I think some daiwas are like that too but none of mine
today i learned how my great grandpa fished eels in the local riverhis eel rod was a simple piece of wood with an umbrella rib on the end to see the bites, and a simple line with a weight, a hook, and a worm on itand it's not some ghetto makeshift setup because that thing have a name in the local dialect no one bellow 80 speak anymorebasically feeder fishing minus the feeder part
>>2848328Reverse switch is kinds overrated and it's another part to fail. If it fails, it can get you perma stuck without anti reverse since it connects directly to the anti reverse system. It is not easy to seal and can be the pathway for dirt/sand/salt to get into your anti reverse system. For how little you ever use it, it's better than modern reel simply get rid of it.
>>2848340I do use it often. Especially on rivers but even at lakes I could live without it but would never buy a reel that didn't have the lever
>>2848358If you ever take apart one of the reel with that feature, you'll realize how flimsy that part is while being tied directly to your anti reverse. Whenever you flip the switch, it straight up.disable your antireverse, usually by removing the anti reverse brake away from the anti reverse bearing. If that mechanism get stuck (for example, one of my okuma reel flimsy spring can't pull the anti reverse back to working), you are basically stuck without anti reverse. It also can get stucks with debris anywhere in the crevice of the switch. That's why most modern reel just remove the feature since you don't need it 99% of the time or ever at all.
so i'm reporting back about my heavy fluoro line testingit's too stiff at 0,9mm for most knots and i was doing uni 2,3, and 4 turns for most of the time, with the tag melted, but under load the loop would slip into the knot, didn't break but it bent open the clip, didn't loose the lure and the fish luckilytried kreh and a bunch of other knots but couldn't get it rightand then i tried the homer rhodes loop knot and it was perfect, two loops, tag melted, tried pulling onto it with pliers to the point i cut the line with the swivelbut now i'm considering that i might need bigger swivels/clips to prevent cutting the line, i can't know how much force i was applying so it might still work just finetl;dr homer rhodes loop knot it is for heavy fluoro
>>2848455Glad you found a knot ypu like/that works for you. You can buy a fish scale and pull with that to get a proper approximation for how strong your knots actually are. Id also reccomend putting the rig on the rod and pulling on it like a fish. 80 pounds of pressure from a rod tip and 80 pounds of pressure directly from your hand feels wildly different. Just try not to break the rod.

>>2849063maybe that have to do with american fly fishermen, here they're normal as far as i can tell
>>2849070Yeah you should be able to lift 33lb easy with that setup. Is the knot intact after tge line breaks? What size swivel are you using? And are you lubricating the knot before you seat it?
>>2849074>Is the knot intact after tge line breaks?line broke on the edge of the knot, no swivel issue this time, and yesbut maybe it was because of the angle of the knot, i passed the line in the loop to set it around the bad's handle
Did you only try the test once or is it consistently failing? Try making sure the knot is wet before you load it so any final cinch is lubricated, too.
>>2849084>>2849076Fucked up my reply
>>2849085so picrel is the improved homer rhode knot (base is two simple loops)and i just did a bunch of tries and it always break on the first simple knotso i did both with two loops and can lift the 33lb bag now, i can also cut the line with the swivel again, so bigger swivels it isimproved improved rhode loop knot hold pretty well
>>2849086Glad you found a solution. I might try your anon-loop some time and see if it replaces the kreh loop in my arsenal.
>>2849088>I might try your anon-loopi'm almost tempted to make a shitty pic with paint to show how to do it nowi think i'm gonna buy some of these carp swivels that come with an bonus thicker ringbut it might be necessary considering i'm gonna use these to make leaders for a 30lb nylon line, it just need to be esox teeth proof
>>2849091>30lb mainline>esox leadersIf youre already exerting more force than you can apply with the rod before anything breaks i think you're good. Also, consoder just doing an albright knot and running a snap swivel. You can run a longer leader and just keep trimmjng it back as it gets damaged. Though if you intend to switch between esox and, say, carp l, younwould be better off with shorter leaders and swivels. Long-term though id suggest you look in to crimps and heavier flouro, something like 130, 150, or even 180. Once you get decent at crimps theyre way faster than knots and you can make your leaders more consistent than with knots.
>>2849094i was thinking doing some swivel->fluo->clip leaders rather than line to line things, making a bunch in advance and packing it in the bagi want to keep things a simple as possible, so with knots instead of crimps, my uncle use these and it's not a perfect solution either since they can easily be too tight and cut the line

Today, I went fishing at an old Girl Scout camp. It was a fairly small section of creek but not tiny. The lower section was silt, but very quickly, it becomes rocky. There were vertical walls, shallow sections, riffles, and deep pools. I found brown trout all over. I didn't see any redds, though, and I was looking for them too. I think the habitat was too bouldery for beds.I took my spinning gear, marking the first time I've done that for wild trout this year. I had many follows and misses. I made sure my hooks were sharp and not bent out. I think the problem was with the angle of attack, rod sensitivity, and my skill. This was a fun outing, and if I wake up early enough, I can get some fishing in before I have to go to work.>Pic rel. First wild brown I've ever eaten. Kind of burnt the fillets. My fillet job was shit because I was using the dullest knife I have ever encountered. This was one step above butter knife.

>>2849249i'm no expert but i think the other anon is right, look like a cyst after a woundcut away the thing, and cook properly, don't undercook and it should be fine
>>2849251>>2849254>trim it away, the rest of the filet should be fineMaybe you're right, but there's no way I'm eating it. I love trout, it's my favorite fish, but I've completely lost my appetite for today. Thanks for the answer though. This is genuinely wild to me. I've been fishing in this lake for like 27 years and never seen anything like it.
>>2849255>This is genuinely wild to mewell it's what happen when animals in the wild get hurt, they don't have a medkit and little hands to use it
>>2849256I know, but still. I think I was less surprised when I found what I can only assume was a beaver fetus in one when I was a kid.
>>2849249>>2849252>>2849251>>2849254>>2849255I could be wrong but i actually dont think thats a cyst, i think thats a puncture wound that went through the stomach, and then when it healed the stomach fused to the rib cage.
>>2849259William beumont documented such a thing happening in a human after recieving a gunshot wound, its called a fistula. If it can happen to a person i dont see why it couldnt happen to a fish.
These minners are vicious right now. Fattest one so far, guess it's peak time for them.
can you guys recommend a good reel, not too big, with a 33lb drag or more, with a spool that got the hole thingy so you can spool directly with braid?
>>2849282Spinning or baitcasting or conventional?
>>2849302spinning
>>2849304And how big is not too big?
>>2849347hopefully smaller than the average carp reel but i can compromise on that
>>2849255I don't want you to do yourself or blow up your lake, but could you describe this spot. Is this a Great Lake? How far north are you? I'm just curious about brown trout habitat as far as lakes go.
>>2849350You don't need 33 lb drag for carp. You don't need much drag for most fish. For typical carp fishing, I'd go with a 4000 size reel. I am a big fan of the KastKing Sharkie IV. Many people dislike KastKing because it's online only, but that reel is the best baitfeeder I've seen, and I've played with some expensive ones.
>>2849359P.S. Forget about the hole thing. That's for baitcasters only. Spinning reels have rubber. But that doesn't matter. You should always use mono backing. First of all, it's cheaper. Second, castability and reelability is much better when you can a fuller spool. Basically, it's there to fill out that section you don't want to use with cheap stuff.
>>2849358>How far north are you?Southern Norway>Is this a Great Lake? No. Not even close. It's decently sized, but "only" around 30km long and less than 200 meters deep. Not much to describe to be honest. Basic freshwater lake with almost only brown trout in it. You can get eel, but that's pretty rare. Oh and beavers.A decently sized trout is 400g most days I'd say, so pretty small, but they range wildly in size to basically being salmon if you're lucky. The one I caught was 540g
>>2849374Ok. I was assuming you were in North America. That makes sense. Thanks.
>>2849374are you sure about that? i thought almost every lake in europe was artificially populated with perch, pike, and carp at some pointbut maybe norway don't have regulations about that since it's not in EU
>>2849438>are you sure about that?100%. I live right nex to this lake, I've been fishing here ever since I was old enough to hold a fishing rod.>i thought almost every lake in europe was artificially populated with perch, pike, and carp at some point but maybe norway don't have regulations about that since it's not in EUWtf, I haven't heard about this. It's definitely not the case with any lakes local to me, I can tell you that much. Norway has pretty strict laws when it comes to things like this
Got another >>2849350What do you consider to be an average carp reel? 5000?
>>2849604God damn you are such fat and ugly pile of shit
>>2849604>What do you consider to be an average carp reel? 5000?sound about right
>>2849622I dont thjnk youre gonna get the drag you want in a reel under a 5000 but the penn authority 5500 has 40lb of drag.
>>2848403The anti reverse on one of my reels just broke today while using it. Now it only reverses or goes both directions. It doesnt reel like normal anymore. Never had that happen but i see your point now
>>2849604Looks like an unkempt hairy crotch.
>>2849604Nice! What did you catch it on?
>>2849620>>2849718Two raging flamers right here. I don't look at a guy and think how ugly or hot he is. I do this when looking at a woman of child-bearing age, and that's because I'm straight. You gays judge Skid because you yourselves are homosexuals.
I'm looking to try and catch a Winter Steelhead this season on the fly rod and I have a good streamer rod to use but am not sure how exactly I should fish for them. I tried doing a bunch of research but there is a lot of information in differing directions. Is nymphing a valid approach or are swung streamers the best approach and where should I look for them? For reference I am in Western Oregon not the Great Lakes region.pic unrelated
>>2849746Nor Cal here. There's a good chance any anadromous rivers in western Oregon will have steelhead. They are native to the west coast. The ones in the great lakes and everywhere else in the world came from hatcheries here on the west coast originally. We catch them on nymphs down here on the Sacramento river. I'm sure streamers would work too.
>>2849749What sort of nymphs do you use? Is it just whatever a resident Coastal Cutthroat would eat a Steelhead would eat as well? I assume eggs and egg sucking patterns would also work?
>>2849756>What sort of nymphs do you use?Olive quill perdigons do well this time of year down here. But yes, anything a cutthroat would eat a steelhead will eat. Egg patterns also do very well.
>>2849760I'm surprised that they would bother eating such a small nymph given the fact they don't feed much while in freshwater from what I've read but I'll have to give it a try. What areas of rivers and pools should I target? As deep as possible?
>>2849729Small gold spinner. >>2849736Because they themselves are homosexuals and hate themselve for it*>>2849746Swinging streamers is a good option but egg flies under a bobber works well.>>2849762Flow rates are more important than depth imo. You want deeper holes with walking pace water. I dont have my best luck in the middle of holes. usually fish are at the head getring ready to go through the riffle or at tge tailout resting. I'm catching lake run rainbows not real steelhead, though.
>>2849762Unlike salmon, steelhead spawn and return to the ocean multiple times. On their way in, in June/July, they're on a fast until they've returned to their breeding ground and spawned. Once they've done that, they're hungry and looking for food. Summer run steelhead will remain up river as late as December/January. Right now is peak steelhead fishing as these fish make their way back out to the ocean.Look for them anywhere you'd look for larger trout. They're looking for easy meals at a low energy cost while staying safe from predators. Deep pockets with good cover. Not in the bottom of deep pools, along the edges, not too deep not too shallow with faster water bringing food to them.
>>2849859Thanks for the info, I plan on doing some kayaking on a North Oregon coast river this Thursday and will probably mostly try some deep nymphs and eggs all day. I'll post here how it goes.
dobyns or st croix
Finally caught a trout this year. They just have not been buying what I've been selling so far. Used a jointed rapala which is kind of a go to when getting skunked.
>>2850032Nice fish, friend!
>>2846103>already at the point where open water is starting to get covered in thin layers of ice>its still probably a month or two at least until the ice is thick enough to even try ice fishingI should've gone fishing more this summer. Or even in the cooler but non-freezing days of the fall.I fucking hate Manitoba weather.
>>2850032Nice brown. Jointed rapalas are goated.>>2850039Thats an annoying time of year yeah. Gotta fish whenever you can.
>>2846103
>>2850069>numbersNice
>>2850064The jointed do really well here for me. Never any bites on the original ones but that's probably user error>>2850037Thanks, it fought like a raped ape. I was scared for my 2lb mono. Feels good ending a 3 trip fishless streakTight lines bud
>>2849881Croix
>>2850078>2lb monoTriple thatAlso consider trying the small x-raps
>>2850090Wont i lose cast distance with a thicker dia. line?Had been on 6lb jbraid but didnt like it much and my favorite line is not widely stocked (sufix nanobraid 4lb)The mono was just in my bag
so i've been reading into all the pollution related things for fishturn out for some rivers in france it's straight up forbidden to eat the fish from it, and for my local river (which doesn't have any industry near it) the national sanitary and food agency still advise to not eat from it more than twice a week to avoid mercury of PCBs intoxicationso i've been reading where does that shit come from and then it get blurry, products with PCBs have been banned since the 80's, supposedly runoff water still rub it off from the land and a bunch of infrastructure coatingsfor mercury the majority come from airborne particles from burning coal in plants that come down with rain, so you can actually blame china for mercury poisoning (and germany to an extend if you're in europe)now i wonder how much mercury people had in them back then considering we used coal for domestic heating in cities before electricity
>>2850079any reason whybudget is 200
>>2850108Correlation from inhaling lead and mercury or something in the 80sI almost never eat what I catch unless the fish is bigger than my states average and I'm really jonesing; in Asia I had a swordfish steak once and I figured I'd need to wait like 4 weeks before I touched any fish again
>>2850105Maybe but i can cast a 1/16 oz jig fartger on 10lb power pro with an 8lb leader than i can with straight 4lb mono. Why not just order the braid?>>2850112>>2850108I, too, dont tend to eat a ton of fish ovef pollutants
>>2850134>>2850112now i'm thinking, if it come from rain/runoff water, arn't crops and lifestock also impacted to an extend as well? is it glossed over because there's money involved? because if i'm gonna eat mercury regardless i might as well eat the damn fish
>>2850137My favorite was the acknowledgment of PFA's being found in Tibet and microplastics being found in every humanEat the fish but maybe moderate it, there's a few calculators that can sort of guesstimate a "safe" amount of mercury you can eat if you care; I used it when I ate canned tuna for lifting during /fit/ addiction life phase: https://www.healthvermont.gov/environment/recreational-water/mercury-fish
>>2850110I know nothing about Dobyns, but I have multiple St. Croix rods. I like their rods for all applications except light and ultra-light. I was told that St. Croix is the best selling rod company in the US. They have a great warranty too.
>>2850134>Why not just order the braid?Seems to have been disco'd. Maybe i can find some somewhereI'll have to find another i like as much
>>2850168I personally like power pro because it has that tiny bit of memory but i imagine you like the lack of memory. Have you tried j braid?
