I don't think it's oversharpening. that looks like posterization which points to either not working with enough bits (unlikely) or something wrong with color spaces

If i wanted to shoot this kind of a lamp illuminating the fog, I'd probably try to find some wider angle where entire yard is visible, possibly including the ground. Illuminated bit of fog is hardly a mind-blowingly cool subject by itself, but it might be a very pretty part of overall scenery, it would probably be better to find an angle where some reasonably nice-looking piece of environment is visible, and then fog bit is just a part of it. Even though fog is a subject for you, you're probably better off showing this kind of stuff as a part of the picture, as opposed to taking a picture of fog itself. I mean, thinking about it, you're not really trying to "show the fog", I'd say you're trying to show the feels and atmosphere of it, a pleasantly calm night in urban environment with golden lights that add to the atmosphere. Or you could go other way around and try to take a close-ish-up picture of the lamp illuminating fog around it, on a very narrow angle, though that would most likely be difficult with a smartphone unless you have some decent telephoto module in there. But of course, I wasn't there, I didn't see the environment around, I've no idea if it applies or not, it's just some loose ideas on things you could try.

But you know, most importantly, take more photos, enjoy yourself, and don't overthink it for now. If the best subject for photos you've found so far is fog under lamp on a foggy evening, then I imagine you're just starting out, didn't got a whole lot of chances to snap nice snaps.

What I noticed comparing LR and C1 is that C1 has extremely weak color noise reduction but the colors, even in linear response, look less flat and there's less need to edit. It begins to look more like a freshly opened raw in lightroom with the moire, color noise, and detail slider turned all the way up as global adjustments.

also sometimes I forget to adjust them at all because i have a "retina display" and need to pixel peep 200%+ to see anything wrong (at least my prints come out exactly like they look on screen even if web posts look like shit).

You are retarded. If capture one was tailored for xtrans and applied that to every camera, it would have more moire reduction and color noise reduction by default, not basically none.

It's not like I tested both or anything. Lightroom has the sole advantage of being able to set up per-camera per-ISO defaults with user made ISO adaptive presets but it's also slow as fuck and color is never quite as vibrant and tonality is sometimes totally flattened (probably a consequence of false color removal).

I have no real ideas. I have no friends. I imagine if I did have friends I would want to try and not make an event to take photos, but to go out to the park and try to get candid images of the people and capture the genuine emotions and connections, because when it ends and your friends no longer have the time/energy to hang out you can look back at the pictures and even though the relationship has faded, the emotions and feelings you manage to capture were real and genuine and they will persist long after they are gone.

Second one is great because it's easier to notice what's on the photo, first one has some very nice atmosphere, hard to pick one. Also, I'd try cropping out a little bit of top and bottom because guy on a boat pointing towards the misty bridge looks crazy cool, and yet I didn't even notice him at first. No idea if it'll work well, just dropping an idea to possibly try out
