I like boxy

I've always been a fan of this particular design language of Sony's, the black utilitarian square. Like the TC-D5. It might be boring to some, soulless, but it gives me the impression of a quality tool.
>>
>>4322166
Sony has gobs of soul. Everything you call soulful today was flawed yesterday. Already, zoomers are rediscovering the first gen a7 and talking like the a7iii is a hidden gem that used to be pro junk like the 5diii.

I don't like boxy, canon smooth lines give me the tingles
>>
>>4325039
I don't mind Canon's blobs, I prefer it over what Nikon's been putting out. I think their more recent bodies are an improvement over the early mirrorless with the sharp lines on the EVF hump. Peak Canon digital design for me has to be the 1D line although I can't quite put my finger on what's better than all the other DSLRs.

If you think 1d series is nice, you should get a load of the 1 film bodies. Pure sex, especially in simple body/grip less configuration. I love it.

This seems like the sensible answer. If the boring box is making great pictures, who cares what it looks like? If it's making bad pictures, is that really the fault of the boring little box?

Nah man, that one just has a conehead look with its viewfinder hump. The 1V is good but that's basically a film 1D. The T90 is just about acceptable in that regard, the gold text certainly helps with aesthetics.

Also looking back through the FD models the New F1 with a grip is giving me major Sony vibes.

My problem with that is you're mixing the aesthetics of the tool with the work it's suppose to do. I don't care if the hammer you have it very pretty, if it shakes in your hand with every strike it's a shitty hammer. Form should follow function and a camera is meant to be held in the hand so it should act as a natural extension of it, that means smooth curves and divots to rest your fingers.

You think the guys who designed all those bricks from the 1950's did it because of the aesthetics? No, they did it because the limits of technology of the time meant they were limited to pressed sheet metal and simple plastic shapes.

If your camera is exclusively used with bazooka lenses and you are an old man with dwindling grip strength, sure, but what about those of us who arent journo snapshitters?

Just look at the market
60yo jpeg shooting zoom using journos took over camera design because they keep consooming and artists dont.

Artists have been fucked out of small, convenient, aesthetic cameras barring fuji and leica because of you and your weak fingers. You and the masses of 60yo newspaper snapshitters.
You have weak hands for the task so you need more grip area and friction to cope yes
Those of us who are not 60yo and will never touch a 24-105 f2.8 do NOT and we definitely dont want our camera to be larger for use with a 35mm f2.8

And the dumbest part about this is you newspaper snapshitters never needed full frame or even apsc. Your photos are always slightly blurred or printed super small. You faggots could have stayed on 1” point and shoots and left artists cameras the fuck alone because all the IQ shit and lens swapping only matters as a variable in art. Which 99.9% of people with canon blobs and bazooka lenses do not engage in.

Only in a market of nothing but artists can the hasselblad 907x+cvf100c exist. If MF were as pined after by worthless journo snappers as FF it wouldnt exist. Instead it would be an h5d esque blob.
Journos pass over apsc on their way to ff so there we find nicely designed cameras for prime users again, surprise! All because newspaper snapshitters insist on full frame for printing 3 inch wide photos on toilet paper and posting 2mp webps to the NYT!

Let me say this again
Journalists ruined full frame cameras
And they dont even benefit from them
>BUT MUH ERGOS
As a journo snapshitter with a flash and f2.8 bazooka zoom attached? Fuck off to micro four thirds you faggots. Stop ruining FF. FF was meant to be a format for dedicated artists, not newspaper snapshits.
>>
>>4327123
can we see some of your pictures?
>>
>>4327123
journos are also the cause of the video and framerate craze. they latched onto full frame cameras despite not needing them. now the REAL artists who might actually print something bigger than 6 inches are fucked out of well designed full frame PHOTOGRAPHY cameras. the entire market is hybrid camcorder high framerate blobs with aesthetics and ergos fit to a 40-70yo boomer and his 24-70 f2.8.
>>
>>4327124
yes i post them in /rpt/ when i am not insulting thousands of fool framer cannot blob NPCs UwU

TRVTH NVKE

People who deserve and need nice cameras were satisfied with the design and tech level of a leica, but aging newspaper snappers are more numerous and spend more money. That’s why leicas are so expensive. Leica has very limited production capacity, and literally everyone who does photography as a hobby/art wants to escape from journalist blob hell. And that’s why blobs are so common. For every artists there’s 10 canonikon snapshitters taking zach tier journalistic photos like boke bird, photo of a thing, and camera pointed at stuff happening.
>>

>>
>>4327133
I really like my blobmera as well. The 1v is a godly film camera when combined with a modern L lens.
>>
>>4327123
Probably true desu

The big 3 jap camera companies are about making money, not making artisan calligraphy pens. They're the bics, not the montblancs. They go where the repeat customers are, the people who buy the most brand new stuff, with support contracts. That would be agencies that employ other photographers. AKA the news, and other work that's creatively void and is about delivering exactly what was asked for, not an attempt at a new idea. Agencies that do newborn photography and family portraits probably buy more new cameras more often than serious artists do.

The average /p/ user, and the average photographer who does not work for an for someone else and take the exact photos they are told to, probably doesn't have to buy a camera more often than once every ten years and would be ok shooting film for 99% of things.

>inb4 snoy shills
Yes, I know, sony makes less specced out, relatively compact cameras that seem more marketed to hobbyists than an r6ii is, and have more "streetfag" lenses.
But they're also sony products so they don't count. Yes, it's a sony product, so it doesn't count. That's right. Sony products do not count, because they are sony products, with gross colors, weird tech problems, and a tendency to break.
