How do you correctly meter in a dark alley with harsh street lights?
I'm shooting on film by the way.

Expose for the lights and factor reciprocity failure. But also I would use digital for low light.

If you don’t have spot metering just compensate by -2 stops

Expose for the lights, if you get a reading at 125th or above and you've got a lot of dark in your scene, bring it down to 1/30th or 1/60th to get more details there
Speeds are for 50mm

I use a small digital camera for metering and then apply the same EV on film.
