I have been a a Nikon D200 CHAD for the past year and a half but due to shear boredom and the screen being absolute dogshit I impulsively bought a Fujifag XT-3 because random people on the internet told me it was good, what am I in for? what lens should I get?

A massive autofocus downgrade and roughly the image quality despite twice the megapixels

Worse lenses that cost twice as much

Developing a pattern of shopping addiction to try and temper your disappointment and frustration like most people here, changing cameras like socks, justifying it by scamming ebay users on resale to minimize the money lost, and ignoring the time lost and the heightened stress levels from just not having a good camera

As someone with a d200, a d40, an xt5, a zf, a q2, a 5d classic, an m11 mono and an a7rv the d200 is the second best camera out of all of them followed by a tie between the q2 and 5dc. the m11 mono is of course the best but its an artists camera, not for taking photos on vacation to show your family.

op here, the d200 is great when you have full daylight but I'm a night owl and tend to take photos at night or in the evening. Unless I bring my tripod its impossible to get much out of it, when I push the iso up to 1600 it just looks horrible imo. Also I find the screen is too small to see if I've actually taken a photo with the things I want in focus, maybe the d200 has better autofocus but I've gone home so many times and realized a lot of my photos are more bury than I thought, I know thats probably due to my lack of experience
>>
>>4336229
Bring your tripod and shot at ISO 200. That's what the camera is named after, the optimal ISO to be used.

you are in for a solid camera that is versatile enough to shoot just about anything. having said that, if you're trying to do the type of night shots that would benefit from a tripod, i'm surprised you didn't go for a later gen body with stabilization.
as far as lenses go, there's way too little information you've given and way too much personal preference involved to make any recommendations.

I own a D200 and a D600. Sold my D600 for an XT-3. The XT-3 was great in a lot of ways. Superb build quality, ergonomics, live view and quality of life features. It was a significant image quality downgrade from the D600 though. These days I have the D200, a D800 and a Sony A7R II. The Fuji was better than the Sony in terms of ergonomics and speed but significantly worse image quality.

It will be an upgrade in every way except color science than the D200. I still have my D200 for a reason.
>>
>>4336223
you are a moron if you think the Fuji has worse AF than a D200. I >>4336393 have owned both. They aren't even in the same league in terms of AF.

I never thought the "pentaprism" Fujis started looking good until the X-H1.

>what's wrong with it?
There's nothing wrong with the shape; it's the dimensional proportions.
It's too thin to have a pentaprism hump.
Since you ask though, the mount and VF should be moved as far to the edge of the body as possible, with the lens lock button being in the corner.

Got my silver XT3 this year for $625.99 during the price gouge, super happy with it.
most used len is Sigma 30 f1.4, fast AF, but lacking a little bit of "Fuji color" in post-proccessing.
Customize all the macro butttons cuz the default is trash.
Right now im looking for Viltrox 13mm but not in a hurry, just wait for the right time.
For extra $150, it's totally worth choosing this over XT2 because of the bluetooth, the mobile app has been useful for me in many situations.
XT4 got baited with the "industry standard" lcd screen.
XT5 is just plastic.
XT3 is the equivalent of Thinkpad T470.
Took it to several trips and confident with the weather seal.

Looks like you're having a hoarding issue, did you just describe yourself with the 3rd line?

>>4336502
it only looks thin is because the lack of grip compare to A7C, A6000 series.
Fuji has those for X100, XE, Xpro and GFX you can take off the VF like a extension.
that fake pentaprism hump is there to match the manual dials.
Picture this, XT user put the camera on the tripod, both hands adjust separated dials instead of swinging the left hand to the right, hover VF and turn on and off the screen.
That's the whole reason people buy a XT-X series, manual dialing.

I am glad you like the D200. A fine camera indeed. I often prefer its images to my D300s, but...

The D2x is even better, with noticeably more resolution when shot in uncompressed RAW with the finest lenses, and with greater color accuracy as well.

I wouldn't trade my D2x for anything!

>>
>>4336552
D2X has better IQ than the Z5?
>>
>>4336175

Viewing its sample images indicates that its image quality is consistently acceptable, with better results achieved in RAW.

It's JPEG rendering subtely distorts everything distant or in less than perfect focus, where its RAW images are cleaner and more refined.
>>
>>4336557

Is it in crop mode?
>>
>>4336560

I pitted the Zfc against my D2x. The Zfc does manage to outresolve the D2x in almost all shooting situations.

The D2x has more consistent color accuracy however.

A downgrade

Fuji ergos are quite shit. Fuji firmware is also quite shit. Fuji IQ is quite shit. Only a high performing FF flagship, with no options that aren't crippled with other copes, could justify putting up with the ergos alone.

See: the state of nikon's FF mirrorless lineup
>normal camera but fujislug brick
>high speed low dr hybrid garbage x3, going from big, to bigger, to proper boomer blob
>2x "ok" cameras with less competent AF than an ancient snoy (still better than fuji)
>the old shit: who greenlit this?
>dx shit: see above

t. used an xt4 before, went to niggon, had to cope and settle for a zf because nikon's next cameras will probably be another 60+mp baby z8-like thing and a z5ii with who knows what crippled to separate the product line
