Can we get a Fuji Superia X-Tra/Premium thread going?
I never got the chance to shoot this film and am going to Japan soon and hoping to pick some up. Need some inspo for the film stock.

Came across a youtube video of someone shooting Superia and I immediately fell in love with the colors.
I want to recreate whatever it is this photographer did to achieve this look.

Anon, Fuji Superia doesn't exist anymore.
>>
>>4344540
In Japan everything exist.
>>
>>4344540
They still make and sell premium in Japan.

OP- it's not a bad film...but it's 2000jpy/roll...which is fuckin retarded. I'd rather be shooting pro image for $7/roll.
>>
>>4344535
>hoping to pick some up
Just buy Kodak gold now, Fuji only cares about instax anymore and just repackages Kodak lel

Its an alright film stock from what I could see out of the SINGLE roll I got to shoot before they stopped selling it.

Green greens, no golden haze like with kodak stuff, almost feels a little sterile.

The colors are really good, avoid the "green hue" ppl complain about by giving it extra light in shady scenes. Gonna miss this film in NA

(also rumour is that ilford make acros II, which is funny because nothing in ilfords lineup comes close to the reciprocity of acros)

Shadows do get green, but it's manageable, the tint is easy to correct both ways

Still, beautiful film, can be pushed to 800 with no problem also

Guess I was wrong:

"The production of Fujifilm films, including Superia Premium 400, has indeed seen some shifts over the years, particularly due to changes in the film market and Fujifilm's business strategies. Let's break down the situation for Superia Premium 400 specifically:

Manufacturing Location and Changes
Initial Production in Japan:

Original Manufacturing: Fujifilm Superia Premium 400 was initially produced in Japan, where Fujifilm had its primary film production facilities. These facilities were known for high-quality control and consistent film stock quality.
Shift in Production Strategies:

Globalization of Production: As Fujifilm adapted to the shrinking global film market, it began shifting some of its film production to different plants. This included moving certain production lines to China, where production costs were lower. Fujifilm also sourced some film stocks from Kodak’s facilities in the United States under private labeling agreements, where Fujifilm-branded film was essentially Kodak film in a Fujifilm package.
Superia Premium 400 Specifics:

Before Discontinuation: Prior to its discontinuation in 2021, Superia Premium 400 continued to be manufactured in Japan. Unlike some other film stocks, there wasn't a notable shift to other countries for its production, at least not officially documented.

Post-Revival Production (2022): When Fujifilm resumed production of Superia Premium 400, it was again produced in Japan. The return of this film was more about catering to the niche Japanese market, where maintaining the "Made in Japan" quality was important. There has been no significant change in the film’s formulation or manufacturing process since its revival, indicating that Fujifilm has aimed to preserve the characteristics that made Superia Premium 400 popular."

it's meant to be the same, so that's a good thing

Alex stop posting on 4chan and shoot better pictures.
>>

kek thought the same thing. his youtube is dog shit and he has to drum up views with this sad shit. literally no one thinks those photos are good, you ugly faggot.
>>
>>4350865
I wouldn't resort to ad hominem attacks, but Alex does not know what Superia or even Fujicolor 100 should look like, he over-saturates the skin tones which make them look magenta.

Superia-xtra is not good for portrait work, landscape maybe, but it's got horrible tones for skin.

Fujicolor 100 is great, the only negative is that it's a negative film, most people should be shooting slide film if it weren't so expensive.

Also Alex, stop changing your camera every 2 months, just pick one camera to consistently shoot with and stick to that, maybe you'll get better from there.

Also finish Can this street?
>>
>>4350964
>Superia x-tra is not good for portrait work
skill issue.

every individual and group portrait my family ever did was on superia x-tra and they look great. negative film is so flexible you can even salvage a photo that got fogged from a brief camera opening. if you suck at scanning/enlarger use that's on you, on superia.
>>
>>4344535
just bought a Canon AL-1 off ebay and it came with 4 rolls of Fujicolor Super HQ 200. does anyone have any experience or photos with this stock? I love Superia 400 and I'm bummed it's been nixed... I still have 5 rolls in the freezer I'm saving for something special

Also, he's not even big on social media.

ok. well as an architecture student, when I say post-modern I mean the actual post-modern movement. The idea being that in lieu of an actual era defined around some monoculture, like the modern era being defined largely by the advances in materials and processes developed over two world wars, ( plastics to continuous materials to engineered skin & frame structural design and mass production etc) ...instead the post-modern era is defined by its lack of such a homogenous concerted zeitgeist, so the effort & style aren't defined by the creation of new technologies, instead it's quotation and commentary on existing artifact. So there is no difference between old and new, all are in the landfill of humanity together. We have digital and film photo available and artistic comps of both together, we get remix culture, hip hop, sampling, mashups, endless covers & reboots reexamining and dismantling context and using appropriation to communicate new perspectives on existing artifacts.

3/4 of the fuckers in this Architecture program are as uncreative as hell, couldn't come up with a new idea to save their life, and have no sense that they'll ever be asked to when they get into the workforce because we're taught from day 1 that there's no such thing as new ideas, all ideas are influenced by what came before, and all artists have always copied and emulated what someone else did prior.

It's a convenient but poor excuse to allow uncreative individuals to lazily indulge in blatant copying when you're taking $80k from them and telling them all they have to do is regurgitate other peoples work into new art museums and Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style homes for mad fat stacks as soon as they graduate. At work, our principal arch listened to this noob give an endorsement about what Jeanne Gang did that was similar, and he was like sounds great, we'll get rid of you and hire Gang.

It's monkey see monkey do bullshit. Same goes for music. Imitation is shit.

This era is defined by the computer and its freedom to remix and synthesize every media of the past. Thats what it'll be remembered by you faggot. I bet you would be the boomers back in the 80's who woulda gone "OH MAN THESE SYNTHESIZERS AND DRUM MACHINES ARE RUINING THE DEFINITION OF ALL MUSIC AS WE KNOW IT!!!" while it pretty much defined all contemporary music as we know it.

Just give it some time, something new will come along within 10-20 years.
