Recently learned that apparently there is a trend of """street photographers""" making videos where they approach strangers and ask them if they can take their photo.
I think they way it's done is kinda cringe, since at least of the handful of examples I've seen some look super staged and I can't help but think that they're taking the photos not for the photos' sake, but for the video of how they take them. Especially since they almost always seem to approach cute girls.
Though I still want to maybe try this myself to build my portfolio and get some practice in (I'm so tired of dragging out the same handful of people for shoots) and just get out of my comfort zone a little both in terms of photography and talking to people. Especially since my country is kinda fucky about street photography and I think you technically would have to ask the subjects for permission, which ruins the whole point of street photography. So I guess street portraiture is the closest I can get without worrying that some boomer will harass me about my camera.
What are your opinions, has anyone here ever done it?

yes the highest-view street portrait vids are corny and probably staged. but obviously there is a world bigger than what you see pushed in social media feeds.

Question in general
When should I use black&white and when color?
I like my b&w pics but now I think I'm overdoing it

How do I choose?

Yeah IRL streetsnappers are reviled and avoided like the plague
No amount of social media fakery will change reality

If you ask beautiful women to take their picture and you are like an 8 or below they will most likely find you creepy and deny it. If you're exceptionally handsome it may work. I would be sceptical of these videos on social media, I don't think they're real. They always feel very staged, in that their backdrops are typically very scenic, like they just happened to meet in a perfect spot for portraits. The other thing is, who, walking around a city, has the time to just do a random photo shoot? Female workers? Perhaps!

Why would they be staged? I remember back around 2014 in Tokyo I had a hipster looking guy and a separate punk looking chick ask to take my portrait on a couple of occasions over a month. But in Europe I've never been approached. Maybe if you're a fat neck beard you'll be getting 98% rejections

I'm an average looking young dude and that was before I had an interest in photography. I imagine in a big city you'll have a 40-50% rejection rate, more anywhere people are busy. Probably want to focus on tourist or university areas

Anyway you're all autists and I'll try my luck at street portraits on the weekend and post back results

>why would social media just heckin be fakerino?????
>>
>>4348622
I think it's easy to sense a fake vibe in a video, hot chick and some scripted obviously acted conversations

In reality people will be nervous and kinda suspicious, more autism in conversation. Eg look at that Trevor wisecup guy

>comparing a guy who nearly gets beat up for sticking a camera in your face to fake instagram street "portraiture" videos
retard
>>

He's might be getting beaten up by feral niggers but his photography isn't scripted tiktok trash
