Why won't the clowns at smegma release a Foveon X3 APS-C camera in a L-mount body?

Idk ask them not us.

Because foveon was shit above base ISO and these days people expect cameras to see in the dark. Also, if all you want are better colors and are willing to sacrifice some ISO performance, just make the CFAs stronger like they were on ccd or early cmos cameras.

strong cfa is a myth. on the science side of imaging, cfas are not weak enough to have accurate color. the strong cfa look is highly inaccurate with some colors being overly vibrant and others being dull. a technologically enforced creative decision.

the change was not technology, it was default settings. some companies have been using the exact same sensor for ages but the colors from the jpeg engine and the adobe/c1 profiles change every year getting more contrasty and saturated as if they're imitating apples color science.

give us foveon in a based body
adaptable brains backhalf+handle with sensor+shutter mechanism
customizable lens mount front half you get to choose from

shoot micro four shits lenses then switch to full frame stuff like nikon 50mm and then pop on a sony zoomer all on the same sensor, with no no artifacts/moire from bayer

make it happen
