How to get a consistently pastel look like this guy? https://www.instagram.com/visualsbypreet/

Or for that matter, Frank Bohbot etc
I tried many things but I can't seem to manage to get these consistently soft shadows and colors, my contrast is too high, shadows too deep, colors too vivid.

I don't have a relevant RAW to catbox rn but I'd appreciate it any of you guys had one that we could try together (something with a nice blue sky and pink walls or something)

here the skin does reveal the very low contrast settings, is that the gist of it?

yeah ok about the glow, that's a diffusion filter, but that's not gonna give this pastel look

The easiest way is to buy his preset.

Legitimately tho, there's a lot of curve and shadow manipulation going on, it's not just dumping contrast and lifting shadows, is doing so on each individual curve, shooting in good lighting, shooting pastel palettes, and selectively lowering certain colours, sometimes his blue's are strong/teal'ish, other times they are dead, like in that pic.

I wish to gargle Preet's balls
>>
>>4366526
i think it's well done on the one hand, but also disturbing. if someone is photographed who doesn't want it and is also aware of it, it has an effect on the picture and hardly ever a positive one.
>>
>>4366528
Love this one. What did you do to the colours?

it's not mine, it's Frank Bohbot

Shoot Gold 200 at iso 100 and develop normally
wala

>>4366525

Buy a Fuji which is what he did lol, funny that p always trash talks Fuji but it continuously produces nicer colours than the other brands.
>>
>>4366582

Also that guys pretty committed, his look needs blue sky to get that pale blue and then he hunts red and yellow objects.
>>
>>4366526
nigga this looks like the shit i did in GIMP when i was 12. all you need to do is adjust the curves so they start where the histogram spikes on each end, then lift the midtones and adjust the colour balance. play around with the curves for each colour channel and you'll get it

>>4366527
and warm WB
>>
>>4366527
Maybe one of those is correct and you didn’t explain anything about the color balance, lol.
>>
>>4366582
Velvia and Astia sure, but slightly shifted white balance and +vibrance slider is not worth being limited to APS-C and having wormjis

that's basically it, you just need to shoot at golden hour in a kitsch setting with a canon 5d. this style was actually all the rage in fashion mags and vice about 15 years ago, maybe in response to HDR boomers cranking the saturation and vibrance sliders.

Did it though? The latter two (which weren't the OP Instagram page) were called "inconsistent" meaning they looked nothing like them.

You're pushing it too far, desaturate the color instead and either overexpose or lift shadows.

I only recall Asteroid City looking like that. He's early work and work from the last decade does not have that plain color scheme.
