Hi p, I developed film on my own for the first time. It was scary! The negatives came out really well though and I'm proud of them. My printer scanner makes them really ugly, even my phone does better! I have to trick the scanner into turning on the "automatic backlight" by lying to it that my negatives are color. I think it's not a very good scanner. Is there a way I can trick it into wanting to turn the "automatic backlight" up higher or am I supposed to cut the thing open and short some connections?

This is the sort of thing I'm getting from the scanner once I edit it, it's very crispy and the resolution is bad compared to looking at it with a loupe.

You should probably just get yourself a scanning setup and use a digital camera
>>
This was overexposed because I thought I was compensating for my broken light meter in the correct direction. I was wrong.

I'll make myself one tomorrow and post it here to compare

film works backwards from digital, if you want to underexpose, you have to set the ISO higher. You'll get used to it. So far good pics though.

holy shit a gondola plush

film doesn't work backward from digital. a lightmeter will work the exact same way whether you use a film or digital camera.

I'm very proud of you.

oh fugg

Yes, but if you tell the camera to expect 200 ISO film, while using 400 ISO film, it will overexpose.
While if you set the ISO to 200 on a digital camera, you will underexpose, if the scene required 400.

Found a model for a film carrier I printed, does a very nice job but not very automated. Much happier with my D3's scan compared to the printer scan.

Thanks anon! I thought you were supposed to overexpose to preserve highlight on film :P whoops.

Thank you anon :)

Nothing he said is wrong. You're a moron. That's exactly how film works and if you owned a camera you would know.
